Summary: Almost good
Review: HHH begins with a lot of promise. Geoffrey Rush is the ideal modern Vincent Price, and the early scenes, particularly the ones in the amusement park, suggest the sort of campy, witty mayhem that made films like Re-Animator and the Evil Dead trilogy great. Unfortunately, the rest of the movie fails to deliver. SNL's Chris Kattan injects a bit of comedy, but his role so inherently one-dimensional that his presence quickly becomes tiresome. Another problem with the script is that the least interesting characters are the ones left standing by the end -- analogously, one wonders if the director's least interesting ideas were the ones that made it into the film.

Summary: VERY SCARY MOVIE!
Review: if you want scares, this movie has it. if you want smarts see the scream trilogy, if you are looking for great atmosphere see sleepy hollow. basic enough.

Summary: WAY SCARY
Review: Whenever I watch a horror movie I think that if I were actually in the movie...would I be scared. And the answer is totally YES for HOHH. This film is full of disturbing imagery and chilling production design. It may be a little corny in places but I had the feeling that was the intention. This movie is WAY better than The Haunting (which was a real lame-o). Buy this DVD and I assure you...YOU WILL BE SCARED.

The DVD is in Dolby 5.1 and is undermatted at 1.78:1 instead of the theatrical 1.85:1.

Summary: Hollow Horror
Review: I can't believe how boring I found this film. "The Munsters" is more frightening. It's just another slasher film with no suspense. Comparisons have been made to older films like Vincent Price's wonderfully campy "The Abominable Dr. Phibes," but this doesn't come close. Maybe it really points out how significant Vincent Price was to those other films.

Summary: House on Pants Hill
Review: House on Haunted Hill has the classic flaws of the bad modern horror movie, with the characters taking inexplicable actions just so that they can be launched into perilous situations. Even worse, there is liberal use of the witless one-liner to dispel any semblance of atmosphere.

The plot is basically lifted from the "so bad it's good" 1959 original. As if that wasn't foolish enough, the script writers have added some additional events that serve to make it even less believeable than it predecessor, which is no mean feat.

Members of the wasted cast must have hoped they'd be rescued from the dire script and nonsensical plot by the SFX department. Alas, the CGI team played a cruel trick on them. Do you remember the skeleton from the first film? This is worse.

On the plus side, whenever Coombs is on screen it looks like a completely different and even stylish movie, but this only accounts for 5 minutes of the running time. Also, for reasons best known to himself, Rush does a good impression of James Woods. That's it.

Neither scarey nor funny, it would be possible to make you own superior film in the time it takes to watch this effort.

Dreadful.

Summary: FINALLY!
Review: THERE IS A GOOD HAUNTED HOUSE MOVIE! In my genaration(X) we haven't had to many haunted house movies. The closest would be People Under the Stairs. Another good one is The Legend of Hell House. The Haunting was not remotely scary. But this one has atmosphere and uses the shadows quite well. I finally have a new haunted house movie that just happens to be the best.

Don't listen to people about the cgi ending. They would rather have guys in sheets.

Summary: Not a great movie, but a scary one.
Review: This isn't the kind of movie that is supposed to be particuarly good. It does well what is supposed to do, however: scare the audience. I really found this to be a scary (and gory!) movie. If you want to see an intellectual movie, this isn't for you, but if you just want to see a scary one, it is.

Summary: Complete fun from beginning to end!
Review: This movie in my opinion was alot of fun! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was simply because of the ending. I was quite dissapointed with the ending simply because it was too quick and didnt really make much sense and left the story hanging in mid-air. But other then that I was enjoying the movie right from the start. If your lookin for a movie that will have you on the edge of your seat and that will make you laugh every now and then this is definetly it! So what are you waiting for go out and buy/rent this movie! You'll love it!

Summary: Totally Terror
Review: I think this movie was excellant. It was scary but also funny. When I saw this movie in the theater with my friends we had to jump out of our seats and leave the theater 3 times. When the movie began with the Insane Assylum I was freaked, especially how the doctor tormented his patiences. When a man who owns a theme park has a party he has it in the House on Haunted Hill he is offering 1 million dollars to anyone that spent the night in the assylum, but it turns out it wasn't a choice anymore...... this flick was a non-stop thriller and I loved it! It is a must see movie!

Summary: ESCAPING FROM REALITY..!
Review: If you're down and want to have some fun in your VCR at home, and want to rent some funny terror movie, rent this one! It is very, very funny, action-paced, with absolute no pretension to be a state-of-art picture, only a great "B" class-movie. This humildity resulted in the fact that directors and cast know fully well what they're supposed to offer the audience, and they don't try to take themselves too seriously. When the public perceives that, they enter into the fun easily!
