Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Best Science Fiction Horror Movie
Review: This movie is excellent. Yes, an explanation is not given at the end; but it shouldn't be. These are the things taken to coffee shops afterwards. Anyways, if the characters don't know what it is, then the viewer doesn't either.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: THIS MOVIE WAS VERY DISAPOINTING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I rented this because I have seen every good movie I wanted to see, and from there where do you go? Down! It was a while till I resorted to watching this atrosity of a movie. I didn't stop watching it because I can't stand walking out on any movie, but I should have in this case! It had no good point, was nasty, and an unsettling ending. I would not recomend seeing it, let alone buying it.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Deserves zero stars, but that'd just make it a cult film
Review: I had the misfortune of seeing this in a theater. That I was the only one in the theater should have served as an important warning.

This movie is beyond a doubt the most insipid movie I've ever seen. I sat there, waiting for the plot to be revealed, only to discover that the "secret" was dumber than the rest of the movie.

On DVD, this movie would make a very attractive coaster.

Summary: Mind-Boggling Horror
Review: This is an excellent science fiction horror flick. A party of specialist returns to the lost spacecraft that can travel through the use of black holes/worm holes, hence the name "Event Horizon". Oddly, the bad guy is not the ship, nor is it Sam Neill; the being to detest in this movie is the universally foreign inhabitant of the "Event Horizon"

Summary: great visuals--plot falls apart
Review: The sets and special effects in this movie are fantastic. The premise is, too: an artificial black hole used as a space-drive opens a wormhole into a dimension so different from ours that it is incomprehensible to the human imagination. The crew of the rescue ship is great, too: a rough and tumble bunch of merchant-marine types sent on the Mission from Hell. The script has plenty of wit and explores deep psychological dimensions of the characters. So why was I so DISAPPOINTED by the end of this movie that I'm giving it two stars? Because the plot completely fell apart about half way through the movie. You never learn why, how, or what the crew is up against. None of the threads so carefully woven in the beginning of the film are tied up at the end, and the whole movie just disolves into a blood bath (literally), climaxing in a half hour of everyone screaming at the top of their lungs and running around aimlessly to escape less and less plausible or explicable forms of horror. To compare this movie to a masterpiece of suspense and plotting like Alien is rediculous. My advice: get this movie, and don't bother watching the last half hour. The spectacular opening zoom sequence is probably worth the cost of the DVD (or tape) anyway.

Summary: First "good" horror movie in years!!!
Review: This has to be the first good horror movie in years! Most movies that have come out lately that classify themselves as a horror movie would not scare a 5 year old! This one has some definite lasting power as a good one! The movie starts out great and just gets better as it goes. The plot needed some extra attention particularly to provide more attention to the origional idea, but was not bad in any case. Pay attention to the subject of where the ship has gone...and if you really think of how scary that would be then you will love the movie!

Summary: Cure for Insomnia
Review: I carefully avoided all the gossip about this film so that when I went to see it at the cinema I would be watching it untainted. What I saw was a dull, predictable film with little to comment it. Some of the scenes were good but the whole thing was boring. A few months later when I had the chance to rent it I watched it twice more to see if perhaps I had missed something, but no - it was still boring.

I have heard rumours that nearly half an hour of footage was cut from the film and I expected the DVD to feature this extra footage, just to see if this changed the feel of the movie. No such luck. Until then, this must rank alongside films such as the Critters series and Titan Find as plain dull.

Summary: Fantastic actors/direction/plot
Review: I loved this film. With everyone playing against type, Paul Anderson's work was cut out for him. From Sean Pertwee to Sam Neill, the cast was perfect!!!! Outstanding!!!

Summary: Hell commeth to the big screen
Review: By far the best SciFi horror film made to date. This movie is the door way to hell, that you can't help taking a peek in the key hole. Crazy good you must get it.............

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: To many effects and not enough plot
Review: This movie started off okay but then it just got stupid and then eventually got to the point where I almost turned it off. The gore in it was far more the was needed. I mean there where guys puking up their guts and getting eaten by what looked like magits. The only reason I give this movie 2 stars instead of one is because the effects were pretty good at the begining. If any of you have seen the movie Scream or I Know What You Did Last Summer and thought those were gorey enough DO NOT GET THIS MOVIE.
