Summary: THE MOVIE THAT SHAPED MY YOUTH
Review: I first watched this film when I was but 8 years old and was immediately enchanted. The movie is primarily visually captivating. Scenes such as those during the opening credits, which set the scene in Santa Carla, present a thrumming mish-mash of people of colourful cultures, living a hedonistic existence, creates an intoxicating ambience which continues throughout the film. The cast admirably carry off an at best ropey plot, but still the film remains a masterpiece. Jason Patrick pulls off the role as a hormone-driven, confused yet courageous adolescent, driven to distraction by our largely silent heroine, Jamie Gertz. Keifer Sutherland makes the film. His sarcasm and cruel wit are darkly attractive,(not to mention his pure sex appeal). His aesthetics and attitude make for an incredibly convincing vampire. The soundtrack, to be brief. Is blinding. Not only does it contribute to the film's impact, but dissolves to become as much a part of the movie as the visual iconography of 80's America, the characters, or the plot itself. The theme track, 'Cry Little Sister' is as beautiful as it is eerie and menacing. While this film is no more than a basic story of good vs evil, the pure,(aka Haim's young and innocent Sam and the Frog bros)against drug-taking, murderous, juvenile delinquent gang,(with Sutherland's David and crew). Star represents the temptation towards evil for Michael. This is a genuinely classic piece of cinema, targeted at a younger, rebellious generation, with Lucy, representative of a benign older generation. The vampire head, seducing innocent youths into his group to do his dirty work, another negative rep of adults. As a young teen, I lived by this film, watching it every day when I got home from school, falling asleep listening to the soundtrack every night as a ritual, and reciting lines such as "they're only noodles, Michael", and the classic "sleep all day, party all night. Its fun to be...a vampire." no doubt driving my friends mad. There have been others, but none with quite such an impact. I love this film. Watch it.

Summary: Superior cast, clever script, and interesting sub-text...
Review: Most agree that this movie is entertaining, fast paced, with amusing dialogue and an excellent ensemble cast. And its scary - lots of jolts - however the real suspense is rooted not in vampires, but in Jason Patric's dilemma - how far will he fall? Can he be saved? There are two sub-themes of note as well. One is, yes! - family values. The love of his brother (Corey Haim) brings Jason Patric's character back from the brink of personal disaster. Mom (goofily played by Dianne Wiest), whose tolerance for her relations' peculiarities almost costs her her life, is obviously the soul of the family, while it is Grandpa who saves everybody's skin (pun intended). The screenplay - very hip for its time - does not seem to engender the actual respect it deserves because of its very cleverness, which overshadows the real depth and warmth that actually make the movie cohere. The symbolism of the "lost boys" obsession for blood and their addiction to being cool is a clever analogy for the addictions of a generation caught up in drugs. The symbolism of the blood-suckers' seduction of otherwise happy youth seems fairly obvious, yet appears opaque to most viewers riding the surface entertainment of the movie (the amusement park and rides setting is no accident) "Lost Boys" can be pure fun, or something deeper - with its excellent ensemble cast, family values, and symbolism, it also boasts fast-paced action, wit and a surface that is hip, slick and cool, making this an excellent example of its genre, and a far better movie than most reviewers give it credit for.

Review: I loved this movie from the first time I saw it to the last time I saw it, which was just a few days ago, its a good movie with a lot of good actors, including Feldman and Haim, and as anyone knows they always have a good movie when they are working together, I would recommend anyone to buy this movie!

Summary: This movie typifies the MTV era of classic 80's America
Review: I loved this movie from the first time I saw it, the excellent soundtrack adds a superb atmosphere to the plot, which, ok, is not the most taxing, but who cares, its meant to be all about fun isnt it! I would reccomend this film to any "80's child" who likes to look back on the "good old times"!!

Summary: A wonderful start to the vampire fetish sweeping the nation
Review: The Lost Boys is a cheesy 80's movie, true. But the cast and crew still made it fun, and enjoyable with their work. I think it was a wonderful beginning to the vampire fetish sweeping the nation now, along the lines of the hit show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you haven't seen this movie, you really should. It is worth watching at least once. Besides, aren't you wondering what everyone is talking about?

Summary: What happened to the sound ?
Review: I really looked forward to watch this movie on DVD. I got the region 2 disk and was very disapointed. The story is good, but the soundtrack was aweful. Is has all the elements of being rocking, but has no merit to label it Dolby Digital 5.1 since the LFE output is almost not existing and the mixing makes the sound a bit monotone instead of being great. A shame that they put this version on the market and can not recommend this to anyone.

Summary: THE COOLEST VAMPIRE FILM EVER!
Review: THIS FILM HAS IT ALL, AN EXCELLENT SOUNDTRACK, AN EXCELLENT CAST, EXCELLENT SPECIAL EFFECTS AND AN EXCELLENT DIRECTOR. JOEL SCHUMACHER IS THE GREATEST. JASON PATRIC, COREY HAIM, COREY FELDMAN, AND KIEFER SUTHERLAND MAKE THE MOVE WHAT IT IS. BOTH COREY FELDMAN AND HAIM PROVIDE HILARIOUS COMEDY RELIEF, AND PATRIC AND SUTHERLAND PROVIDE THE HORROR AND ACTION IN A SPECTACULAR FACE TO FACE CONFERENTATION AT THE END.
