Summary: Sins From The Past
Review: in spite of its low, very low body count- whatever happened to all that people surrounded by the fog in the beach- and some corny characters- the granny and the little boy seem to belong to a silly spielberg-like flick-, the fog is one of john carpenter's best, a scary nightfire tale of betrayal and community redemption# run-away-from-the-fog-there-is-something-in-the-fog, radio lighthouse keeper adrienne barbeau repeats over and over in spine chilling voice mood## avoid-any-not-letterboxed-edition-of-this-classic, veryolivari suggests anyone out there hearing

Summary: A good spooky movie
Review: I strongly recommend this one, if you love horror & spook stuff as much as I do you'll love "The Fog". John Carpenter is a master director of horror movies, starting with his now-classic "Halloween". One of his best movies is "They Live" which has the added distinction of starring former wrestling star Rowdy Roddy Piper, who has since become much less rowdy. If you liked the "Illuminati" novels and spin-offs, this movie about alien ghouls controlling the world through subliminal messages will be just your cup of Heinlien-esque tea. I have no guess if Carpenter was inspired by Robert A.Heinlein's novel "The Puppet Masters", which has already been made into a separate movie, but the main concept matches. And some critcs gripe about how Shakespeare already did it all and whatever followed was just a re-telling of his works. Well, my opinion is; sometimes once is indeed not enough. Thank you Mr.Carpenter for the entertainment you've given, please keep up the great job! And reading back over this, it suddenly occurs to me I have rather widely digressed from the main jubject which is "The Fog". Go ahead rent it or buy it, remember...make sure ALL the doors and windows are locked tight and don't turn off your lights and especially DON'T go outside!!

Summary: An underrated masterpiece!!!
Review: First of all, in agreement with others, this movie MUST be made available on DVD! I mean, it's great that it has finally seen the light of day once again on video, but what a great widescreen DVD (plus some nifty extras, right?) this film would make! More people need to see this moody, suspenseful, effective and snappily paced scarefest from Carpenter. His music for this film is excellent, the ensemble of actors are a blast to watch, the fog is creepy lookin', and this film features what is probably the most excellent final shot in all of horror history! I LOVE THIS FILM! If you like horror, suspense, or just a creepy, well-crafted film, see The Fog.

Summary: Is DVD afraid of 'The Fog'?
Review: I only have one comment. Why is this film, (John Carpenter's 2nd best film - Halloween is #1 of course), NOT available on DVD? PLEASE! We are officially asking the powers that be - give this great film the DVD treatment it deserves...

Summary: One of John Carpenters best
Review: The Fog scared me to death as a kid. I saw it the other day on cable and it still gave me the creeps. Along with Halloween, Halloween II, The Thing, and Escape From New York, I think that this movie ranks right up there. It's a well crafted, scary ghost story with three of the great scream queens we have come to love over the years all in one movie: Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis and even her mother Janet Leigh (from Psycho)! The rest of the cast consists of other familiar faces from Carpenter films as well. This film also has (in typical John Carpenter fashion) a minimalist synthesizer-driven score composed by Carpenter himself that adds tremendously to the nail biting tension of the film. I can't wait for a re-mastered DVD release of this classic horror film.

Summary: Classic Horror
Review: Ok...when you start watching this film for the first time (or read the plot summary), you may be thinking that it is not worth your time, and even I will admit that when I first started to watch it, I was thinking that the whole premise was lame. BUT...I found myself watching the film every time it was shown on television, and each time it created extreme chills and a tangible eerieness. One thing that definitely contributes to the eerie mood (as in Halloween) is the music. It is the perfect addition to a terrific horror movie. Watch this one with the lights off (from midnight to 1 a.m.)!

Summary: Great Movie, Too Bad MGM Released It
Review: Modern filmmakers need to watch this film and learn. If you like movies where the atmosphere alone is enough to scare you, this is worth watching. The isolation you feel when watching this film is incredible. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because MGM owns the rights to this film. My VHS copy of this film is brand new, yet the picture quality makes it seem as if the tape has been sitting up in a dusty attic for 20 years. The picture quality is poor and the 2 channel stereo sound has no bass response and sounds harsh. It's a shame Anchor Bay Entertainment can't release this with their typical THX widescreen and dolby surround upgrades. I have read that the upcoming DVD version of this film will be from a new interpositive. The picture is supposed to be as good as the restored Halloween. Since it is coming from MGM though, don't count on it having interviews, behind the scenes, or deleted scenes. Technical stuff aside though, this is one of Carpenter's best films in my opinion. It's truly a classic ghost story.

Summary: Great Movie, Too Bad MGM Released It
Review: Modern filmmakers need to watch this film to learn how to make a horror film the right way. If you like atmospherically scary movies, this is definitely worth watching. The isolation you feel throughout the movie will leave you with chills. The only reason this gets 4 stars instead of 5 is because MGM owns the rights to the film and released it without any remastering. My brand new videotape has the picture quality of a VHS tape that has been lying in a dusty attic for 20 years. The 2 channel stereo sound has no bass response and sounds really harsh during loud sequences. I wish that Anchor Bay Entertainment could get the rights to this film since they would probably use THX remastering with widescreen video and Dolby Surround. I have read that the MGM DVD version of this film will be from a new interpositive and have picture quality like the restored version of Halloween. Since it is coming from MGM though, it will likely not have extras such as interviews, and behind the scenes like the laserdisc had. MGM doesn't believe in that sort of thing apparently. Technical stuff aside, this is one of Carpenter's best films in my opinion. It's truly a classic.

Review: This movie is eerie, creepy, and just plain great. I enjoyed the way the movie built up to the climax.
