Summary: 'BLAIR WITCH' a modern horror classic
Review: Whether the hype of the film got you, or the film itself missed the mark with you, for me, 'BLAIR WITCH' is a modern classic. You may not know it now, but nobody knew the impact Hitchcock's 'THE BIRDS' or 'PSYCHO' had when they came out. 'BLAIR WITCH' requires a degree of audience participation. If you're not willing to let yourself go, and believe in the movie, then you're probably not going to appreciate it. But if you believe in the movie, then the movie has worked it's spell on you, and you're FREAKIN' SCARED! That's what's so revolutionary and classic about this film. Like Hitchcock's movies, it envokes the rawest must vulnerable of human emotions, fear, suspense, and uncertainty.

If you'll let yourself go into the woods of Burkittsville ,Maryland with Josh, Mike, and Heather, then you've done your job. The movie will do the rest... (Watch it in the dark, it's better.)

Summary: Watch this alone in the dark for the genuine effect
Review: I put aside the hype and settled down for one of the most inventive and truly scary horror movies I have ever seen. The dread is so oppressive that by the end of the film you feel as though you have experienced it personally. Is there anything more scary than hearing a noise you can not account for? Do shrieks of abject terror in the night not reduce you to a quivering mass of anxiety? You will walk away from this movie with the final image burned into your mind, even if it takes you a while to understand what it means. A well done movie.

Summary: Save your money!
Review: My neighbors an I both rented this movie at the same time. About thirty minutes into the movie, I called to ask them how they liked it. And, not much to my suprise, they had turned it off, just like we did. RI-DIC-U-LOUS!

Summary: Not scary as hell , but pretty creepy!
Review: Those of you who hated this movie probably didn't listen to all of the hype very good. They said at least a million times there were no special effects , hence ,no monster! It was pretty overhyped , though. U.S.A. Today said it was scary as hell. A little overexaggerated, but almost true. When I saw this in theaters I found myself getting more and more nervous as it moved along. The night scenes were very scary! The best part was when they heard kids laughing outside the tent. I just said it was creepy in the summary in case my dad happened to see this review. It was pretty freaky. As for the person who wrote the first review , I wouldn't trust anyone who spells isn't izn't and uses z in every word. Don't expect a whole lot , or you'll end up hating this movie like my dad did.Perfect for Halloween! One question: What was in that bundle of sticks Heather discovered? All I know was it was real bloody and there were a few bones , I think. Well, maybe they'll show it in the new footage on video. I need to buy that real soon!

Summary: Scariest movie of all time.
Review: That's right, the scariest movie of all time. Am I a 12 year old boy with an I.Q. of 67? Nope. Have I seen the Exorcist, Psycho, Halloween and all the other horror classics? Yup. What's my point? A whole lot of people hate this movie because they expected things to pop out and blood to fly all over the place. Sorry, folks. This ain't that kinda movie. Can anyone actually see what this movie is doing? Why it is being called a classic? Because it does what classical horror movies do: leave things to the imagination. There is truly nothing scarier than the unknown. Michael Myers is one scary mofo, but you KNEW what he was gonna do to Jamie Lee Curtis if he ever caught her. In this movie, you have no clue what is gonna happen next. The acting is pretty darn good, especially by Heather Donahue. People say she was too annoying and she cursed too much...oh, shut up. These are the same people who watch Scorsese-De Palma-Tarantino movies all the time, and they use the "F" word more than any of the other movies out there. Okay, this review is going on a bit too long for something for a video store on the net. Scariest movie ever, not to be missed, those without an imagination, take a hike. Those who have one, prepare for the ultimate in cinematic terror.

Summary: more intense on the home screen than on the big screen
Review: not since the days of Val Lewton and his RKO unit that produced CAT PEOPLE (and others) has so much been made of so little - and so effectively. the feeling of terror and dislocation these three ill-fated people feel is magnified on tv, in the dark. Heather's final confession, so moving, chilling, and horrifying on the big screen, goes straight into one's psyche when watching it at home. the last film that made me scared to go up the stairs alone was Robert Wise's THE HAUNTING (1965). BLAIR WITCH achieves this level of horror and at times surpasses the level of THE HAUNTING. The absence of special effects coupled with the canny use of sound and the subjective camera translate perfectly to home video. This is a movie destined to be a classic, and the video transfer is a must for the home librart of any aficienado of quality scare movies.

Summary: it was watchable, but i'm still lost.
Review: this wasn't the best film i've seen, but it was interesting trying to figure out what was going to happen next. i wish it could have been more specific so that i wouldn't fill so lost.

Summary: Superior and original horror story.
Review: Blair Witch Project examplifies what "Indies" can do these days. The use of hand-held cameras is not new but the use of hand-held cameras by the actors while they improvise their lines and deal with "things that go bump in the night" bring a new level of terror to film much as Alfred Hitchcock did when Psycho was first released. Top grades to the cast and crew of Blair for a truly entertaining film and the second feature ("Curse of the Blair Witch") helps tie up some loose ends. I can hardly wait to see their next project.
