Review: This movie is a work of darkness. Coming from satan.This movie produces no fruit, and is unprofitable for gaining faith towards God. William Peter Blatty says that this movie will help your faith in God, but it won't. It will only make you despair. If you wan't to see a movie that will help you have faith in God, then watch Mel Gibsons "The Passion of the Christ." This movie is obscene, gross and dirty. Especially having 12-year-old Linda Blair, a child doing those grotesque things. What kind of adult would allow a child to say and do those wicked things, even for the sake a making a movie? Perversion. I wouldn't allow my kids or my parents or friends to see this wickedness. If you want to have faith in God, you don't need to watch a movie that's filled with kitsch, shlock, and profanity. Just get out your King James Bibles. And another thing. You don't need to go through a "Roman Ritual" to expel unclean spirits. That whole exorcism scene was a waste of time. Read Mark chapter 5, in your King James Bible. This movie scared the living day-lights out of me. I haven't watch it, or another horror movie since.

Summary: Best Horror Film available to date
Review: So much has been said on the Exorcist by the other reviewers that you might think there wasn't anything left to say, well you are wrong. A very 'Bright' person in a review I have seen has recommended 'Jaws' instead of the Exorcist. Now I am asking myself whether that person has been using something called 'Brain' or whether the Demon of Stupidity actually possessed this person and Forced him to write his review! Anyway, if you want a film with a disturbing plot that will send shimmers down your spine, I strongly recommend this film, and particularly this version.

Summary: Shocking, Thrilling, Disturbing
Review: This was a movie that was extremely shocking and verbose for its time period (1973). We see a tale of an 11 year old girl being possessed by a demon followed by continous suspense. I believe this movie revolutionized the way people looked at horror flicks. Between Regan's rotating head, the disturbing scene of her masturbation with a crucifix, and the unbelievably random scene where she spider walks down the stairs. The extra scenes really added to the value of an already classic movie. From beginning to end this movie will keep you on the edge. It really makes you think about what is going on. The part that I especially felt was when you could see the imprints of the words "HELP ME" on Regan's stomach when they lift her shirt up a little bit. That was a wild scene to say the least. The acting was superb. Ellen Bursten and Linda Blair are amazing in their parts. William Peter Blatty created a real gem with this masterpiece. As of now, I haven't seen a tale of possession that has been able to touch this classic. If you enjoyed this movie, also check out The Omen movies, which were also great ones.

Summary: A Warning...It's Rubbish!
Review: I just don't understand the avid adoration of this film! It's right up there with the over-rated "Amityville Horror"...neither one of these films is scary or even necessarily watchable. Yes I watched it alone. And at night. I was bored out of my mind. It's graphic. It's necessarily rated R. It's about a little girl who gets posessed for some reason that no one wants to share with us. And um...that's about it. The makeup and special effects are laughably bad and haven't stood up well to time--maybe people think this was good for the 70's? I've seen better from back then. I'm old!
Why is a fake rotating head scary? I know this film is from the 70's. I know it's a "classic". I know Avacado was a really popular color back then, but PLEASE people, vomit is rarely--if ever--bright green. And I'm still trying to figure out why a demon would make a kid pee on the floor. What does that have to do with ANYTHING? Why is that scary?!! I don't feel anything for these characters. What did this kid do to get posessed in the first place? I'm pretty sure it doesn't happen like that... don't you have to invite that sort of thing on yourself? Why do people always assume that demons care what religion you are? That demons would care about religious stuff at all for that matter? I think 99% of this film was done for shock value which is the ONLY reason it's a cult classic. Please, for the love of God, watch the original 1960's version of "Psycho" or "The Changeling" or "Jaws"...just watch something else! There are so many other good movies that are worth watching. As for me, I want my two hours back.

Summary: A classic tale of guilt, grief & demonic possession.
Review: A highly original & grotesquely disturbing film that makes the unbelievable subject of demonic possession believable. For the very few of you who haven't got a clue as to what this movie is about, it goes something like this. Regan (Linda Blair), the sweet & lovable daughter of a famous actress (Ellen Burstyn) is suddenly struck down with a rare, cerebral disorder- or so it seems. What's really happening to this poor girl is far worse. Satan has decided to leave his cumfy lodgings in hell and take residence inside Regan's body. The demon takes total control of Regan transforming her from a sweet 12 year old girl into a violent, cussing, vile spewing creature with a bad temper and who likes to do bad things with holy relics. A young, troubled priest (Jason Miller) and an older, more experienced priest (Max Von Sydow) are called in to exorcise the demon. The film, when released, was extremely controversial (and still is today). People in the audience reportedly screamed, fainted and vomited when presented with the film's grotesque and grisly spectacle. Many of today's younger audience may not understand fully as to why so many acted to such an extreme extent considering they are all use to seeing violence at a far more graphic level. However, even some of today's hardcore, younger audience have found this film frightening and quite distressing. I think the main reason is that we, as a society are not use to seeing 12 year old kids behave in such a manner. It's shocking indeed to have a 12 year old yell out derogatory swear words. The masturbation scene especially is very hard for many viewers to fathom. Another frightening aspect of the film is the extremely well done make-up effects. Regan's face, in the final stages of her possession is very visually unsettling. Her face becomes scarred and mutilated. Her lips, chapped and her eyes are pasty and colourless. It's very easy for the viewer to forget that we are looking at a very young girl. But as frightening as the visuals are, in my opinion the most disturbing aspect of the film is the sound effects. The demonic voices which emanate from the poor child's mouth are upsetting- to say the least. At times, the voice is deep and masculine. At other times it's more feminine, sounding very much like an evil old lady. And at other times, we hear several overlapping voices giving us the impression that Regan is possessed by more than one demon. The star of the vocal effects is Mercedes McCambridge and I must say, she did an incredible job. Also impressive is the film's human element. We feel for every single character in the film from the guilt-ridden Father Karras to the tormented Chris McNeil. And the performances from the entire ensemble is outstanding- most notably Ellen Burnstyn's moving portrayal as the victim's mother. The Exorcist is definately not for everyone as many will find the subject matter far-fetched and the contents offensive. But for those wanting to experience the ultimate in first-class horror, The Exorcist will not disappoint. It's revolting, distasteful & crude. Everything you'd expect from a first rate and unforgettable horror masterpiece.

Review: I saw this movie for the first time in high school and just recently had a chance to see The Version You've Never Seen. It still remains the scariest movie I have EVER seen. I watched this movie during the day and it still took me several nights before I could sleep. The spider-walk scene was new and definitely disturbing. I'd give it more than five stars if I could. This movie is a must have for any horror fan!!

Summary: Vomit, cussing, and masturbating galore!
Review: I am an average 13 year kid who is a fan of horror movies, and this movie was at the top of my list of 'Must see horror movies' After i watched it, i thought it was pretty good, except the possesed girl's behavior completly ruined the film. I let it go when she threw up green stuff, and her head spinning on her neck, but the part when shes masturbating with the cruicifix, that was the last straw. D.I.S.G.U.S.T.I.N.G.!!
And i do admit, it was pretty creepy, but it was more 'weird' than 'scary'. But this movie is good, even though some scenes are quite disturbing. So unless you worship vomit or your name is Joe McMasturbate, this movie is terrible.

Review: Im an average 13 year old kid, and ive read facts that when this film came out, it caused "mass hysteria", i dont know what those hysterical weirdos were thinking, this movie was utterly disturbing, but not scary enough to faint! but the movie was pretty disgusting, and the language was way too explict. Also very, very gross. Like the green vomit.
