Summary: Correction
Review: I just wanted to make a correction to one of the reviews I read. I just rented Kindred the Embraced DVD's before I decided to buy the set, and the epiosed with Sasha being embraced are included. The series was very short lived, and to the best of my knowledge all of the episodes are included on the 2 disc set. It is a shame that it didn't catch on more, the series is extremely well written, and focuses more on how the Kindred mix with the humans rather than treat them like cattle.

Summary: Too Much Revision for DVD
Review: I never had the pleasure of trying out the role-playing game, but this series and vampire mythology has special meaning for me. Like others, I am deeply disappointed this TV series ended so quickly. Most programs that eventually do well on television take a couple seasons to even find their "voice", yet this one, by only the second episode, was becoming cohesive and compelling. I can only imagine where it might have gone given time...

My gripe here is with the DVD version of the pilot episode. The VHS version contained the pilot seen on TV, but the DVD version has been altered. Some tidbits were put back in the DVD version, while others were taken out. For instance, the original had Sasha introduced in the pilot, during a long scene of Julian's grandson's funeral. This was chopped from the DVD release. Regrettable, I think. Not only was it a cute scene, but it immediately established a connection between Sasha and Julian.

But the worst alteration they made in the DVD release of the pilot was that they changed the soundtrack music. Why they would do this is beyond me, as the music in the series is one of the best features. The new soundtrack sounds like rather cheesy porn music at times, and - God help me - they inserted music from Bram Stoker's Dracula in several places. I'm sorry, but when did the Dracula/Mina Love Theme become the Frank/Alexandra Love Theme? That's just plain wrong.

I love this series. I'm happy it's on DVD now. But, as weak and flawed as the pilot episode of this series was, I wish they'd left it as it was in the VHS release.

Summary: Incomplete story, only good for nostalgia
Review: This was an excellent series a little ahead of it's time. I think it would have done better if it came out later with shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Witchblade and such as it would have gathered the rise in fantasy fans to it.

If you found this item, you probably already know it features vampires in the city, with various genres of vampires or creatures focusing on the different aspects from the animalistic warriors to the lusty entertainers. It would have been a fantastic drama. Hell, most of those actors are fairly unemployed. ;-) I'd like to see them re-air and try again!

My only complaint is that watching these shows makes me yearn for an ending. If you get this set, realize in advance you're getting a series intro. It's good, but an awful tease. =)

Summary: KINDRED THE EMBRACED NOT THE COMPLETE VAMPIRE COLLECTION
Review: I was, and still am a big fan of this series, but I assumed I was getting the FULL series on DVD not just 8 episodes. My favorite charters are Sasha & Cash, the episodes I so wanted to see were when they feel in love and then she was turned by a Brujah well I was shocked that those episodes are not on these 2 discs and if you have never seen the series there is so much missing that you probably will not fully enjoy these 2 DVDs or understand what's going on. I am happy to own it, but it is not what I believed I was purchasing. I can only hope they will come out with the missing episodes so I can then have a complete set. VERY MISLEADING ON WHAT YOU RECEIVE! To my knowledge the actor who played Julian died after the series was canceled.

Review: i saw the episodes when it came on t.v. i thought the show was great, and it's nice to see thet they are out on dvd.i've never read the book it was based on,fully, but from what i've read the short lived series is better than the book.although,i wouldn't advise anyone to jump and get it because there are other movies
that are ten times better than Kindred.

Summary: Such a good idea going to waste! Love these 8 episodes!
Review: Well, I just wanted to say I really like this serie and it should have been continued... but from what I heard, it wasn't stopped because of low ratings, etc... but because the "lead actor" playing Julian Luna (the late Mark Frankel) died in an accident after only 8 episodes were done!

Summary: Good if you like the Game
Review: Let us keep this DVD series in perspective. Ken Burns "Civil War" should be rated 5 stars. This series at best should only rate 3. I have given it two stars because I enjoy the game Vampire: The Masqurade. If you are into the game and wish to see a visual application of the concepts then this video is for you. Keep in mind though that this tv series was cancelled for a reason ... it ... ! Oh yeah, and the lead actor got into a motor cycle accident and was decapitated (strange but true). Lord knows Spelling, who brought us such classics as 90210 and the Love Boat, would have made much more of this if he had time. However, time was taken away when 90% of the viewers changed channels during the opening credits.

I am not trying to slam this video. And I am glad that I bought it for the games I play. But I want to add a little realism to the other comments posted on this item. If you are interested in this video - rent it first. If you love Vampire the Masquerade - buy it. And if you are starved for any type of entertainment what so ever ... read a book, cause you won't be satisfied here.

Summary: Why I won't give this series five stars
Review: I love the masquerade. Let me say that first. This game line rules all and I defy anyone to find a game that is darker, more realistic and better produced. That being said. What was this .... Don't get me wrong I have this Dvd and the VHS mostly because it's the only way I can see the masquerade on tv without it being on the news with some kid killing his parents and you know what I'm talking about. I'm with those of you who picked this show apart. Where are the other clans? Where are the disciplines? and when, Caine tell me when did gang and gangrel become the same thing? The Brujah were punks and not in a good way. The Toreador were the only clan that actually fit the game standards. The Nosferatu were actually pretty nice looking and yes I know that sounds bad. Where were the Tremere and my beloved Malkavians. Now I did like the idea of them being able to walk by day, I use that in my game sessions but the rest was just .... While Sasha the brujah girl was ... she was just so annoying. We know she's Brujah can she shut up about it all ready. Julian while cool to look at he had the look of a prince but he would not be able to survive he would have gotten torn apart but the Anarchs or other Primogen along time ago. That brings me to Eddie Fiori the Brujah Primogen. I know this is getting long but come on. Can you say dead man along time ago boys and girls. You attack the Prince's bodyguard, your turn the Prince's granddaughter, you defy the Prince on numerous occassions and yet that ... was still walking. Julian should have put him down like a dog in the Primogen room in front of everyone. Okay pretty rough but I take the masquerade very seriously and yes I know it's a roleplaying game so don't bother to point that out. Now you want to know why this show was bad? two words, Aaron Spelling. You game a vampire roleplaying game to a man who makes soap operas what the hell did you think was going to happen. Now if Todd Mcfarlene had of done it the show would still be on today.

Summary: Kindred: The Embraced isn't finished
Review: I bought this collection on vhs a few years ago and enjoyed every minute of it. The Kindred were seductive, intimidating, powerful, and extremely real like. They were nothing like the movie vampires that are, as James Woods would say 'They're not romantic. It's not like they're a bunch of (bleeps) walking around in rented formal wear seducing people with cheesy Euro-trash (no offence meant) accents', they were more like regular people in positions of power; sort of like the Godfather meets Dracula. The only problem I had with it was that at the end of the last episode they left it wide open for a continuance. Even Aaron Spelling let 90210 go on for more than 5 years before ending it.

Aside from that, I seriously think they should come up with a new series picking up where Volume 3 left off. But if you like the game, you'll definitely enjoy this. As always remember this 'We're all around you.'

Summary: Kindred 90210
Review: Is the phrase that my friends and I coined for this series back when it was first airing on FOX.. Since then I still call it that but, with love and affection..

I am a fan of the RP game that this series is based off of (Vampire: The Masquarade). And I must admit that if you look at it from the stand point of an avid RP'er of the game you will go "what the?" the characters all had the same powers (if you never played all the clans have different and unique powers).. And only the most mighty of the vampires could dare stand in the sun for any time at all (non of this if we drink blood we can be out in the sun for a time)..

Now go beyond that.. you have a very powerfull movie that deliveres a unique look at vampire life.. with it's love, mobster life, action, and death..

As the series pointed out the Prince has the power in the city and it is the Prince's decisions that can change the outcome of how the "mortals live or die".

It is a shame that this series was canceled.. To bad someone will not take the reigns up again and give it a new try..
