Summary: A Gory Nightmare...
Review: Chris Finn (Desmond Harrington), a recent graduate from Medical School, is on his way to a interview when he is held back in traffic by an accident. Consequently, he turns back in order to find a detour to his interview, and on his merry way through the back roads of West Virginia he gets into a car accident with a group of five preppy college students. Chris and three of his newly gained friends begin to hike to a location where they can find a phone, since their cellular phone won't work. However, something malevolent is lurking in the woods around them that has been brought about through decades of inbreeding. Chris and his friends realize that they have been thrown into a hellish nightmare where death seems to be the only way out. Wrong Turn is a gory throwback horror film that offers several gruesome shots that can be compared to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and the recent House of 1000 Corpses. However, this film does not offer much more than deaths of the characters through the actions of some grotesque evil inbreds. Overall, it is a gory film, but it is not sufficient for a good scary cinematic experience

Summary: Same old horror
Review: I really would not recommend this film to anybody. Its basically about eliza's boyfriend breaks up with her and her 4 friends take her out on a trip to the woods and they get stranded because a guy crashes into their car. They all go to find a phone what sense does that make?? I dont know of any phones in the woods and its basically the same kind of concept you see in other movies they get lost killers come after them blah blah blah eliza survives with the guy that crashes into them while the other two couple are doomed to die. It is so predictable and corny. The "truck" that the monsters have is such a copy of the jeepers creepers concept its basically a rip off of every horror movie there is. Rent it dont buy it.Its good to people who are new to watching horror. Spend your money on something better!

Summary: GREAT MOVIE!
Review: Wow this movie is awesome...I've watched it a
million times already. First of all Eliza Dushku and
Desmond Harrington are in it - they have great chemistry.
Eliza is gorgeously beautiful and cool while Desmond
is amazingly hot. I love the fact that the villains in
this movie aren't "monsters" but more real..which makes
the movie a lot scarier. In general the plot of the movie
is cool.

I recommend watching the movie in its original form and
then watching it with the commentary..I loved that part..
it was like watching the movie w/ Eliza, Desmond and Rob.
They also reveal some stuff that I missed watching the
movie the first time around.

The other extras on the dvd are cool but WAY too short..
that's the only complaint.

The score on the this movie equally rocks and I would
recommend buying it as well.

Summary: Wrong Turn
Review: I found this movie to be chillingly realistic. It's not unusual to get lost - anywhere. But to be completely unfamiliar with one's surroundings can have disastrous and tragic results as it did in this movie. Inbreeding occurs in more families than we'd like to think. I especially enjoyed the performances of the three actors who portrayed the "mountain men." Their cool, tireless, unending hunt of the four lost youth was vicious and frightening.

Summary: No thrills, no chills, no originality
Review: This is the sort of film that really disappoints me...a movie that does nothing but remind me of much better and more original films. I realise it was the directors intention to return to the kind of horror film that scared the bejeezus out of people in the 1970s like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Hills Have Eyes, but while those films changed the landscape of horror cinema forever, this film has nothing new to offer longtime horror film fans. Instead, it more closely resembles the many cheap and inept "spam in a cabin" movies of the 1980s with titles like Prey and Madman that now gather dust at your local video store. The only positive that this film offers is that it may entice people new to the genre to check out the much better films that inspired it. Save your time and money and check out some of the films listed below instead.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
Deliverance
Southern Comfort
Just Before Dawn
The Hills Have Eyes
Evil Dead
Tourist Trap

There's also The X-Files episode Home which features a similar storyline and manages to be a heck of a lot creepier than Wrong Turn. It's well worth checking out.

Summary: a very good movie
Review: Wrong Turn is definitely one of my favorite movies. It's about three vicious canabals that are out to get a young group of friends who are stranded by running over some barb wire that were placed on the road. There is also a guy named Chris that takes a wrong turn and crashes into their vehicle. Then basically the rest of the time they are all trying to survive. There is lots of suspense and quite a bit of gore. I highly recomend you rent this movie it's definitely a must see! Brrrrrrrrr! the scene still gets me when they're hiding under the bed of a sleeping canabal!

Summary: THIS WAS ACTUALLY A GOOD MOVIE
Review: A GROUP OF TEENAGERS ARE LOST IN THE WOODS OF WEST VIRGINIA. BUT THE TERROR BEGINS WHEN A GROUP OF CANNIBALS BEGIN KILLING AND COLLECTING THEM ALL ONE BY ONE. THIS VIOLENT HORROR MOVIE DEFINITELY HAS SOME CLEVER PLOTTING AND IT HAS SOME GOOD MURDER SEQUENCES. EVEN THOUGH ''THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE'' [THE 1974 VERSION, NOT THAT CORNY-A** VERSION THAT CAME OUT THIS YEAR] IS THE MEASURING STICK OF THE CANNIBAL-TYPE HORROR MOVIES, THIS IS UP THERE WITH THAT INCREDIBLE MOVIE. CRITICS MIGHT SAY THIS IS TRASH, BUT I SAY THIS IS A HIGHLY ENTERTAINING HORROR MOVIE. HORROR FANS SHOULD BE THRILLED BY THIS MOVIE.

Summary: Hillbilly Hellaciousness
Review: I have to admit I didn't expect much from "Wrong Turn." I was living in another city when the film was released this summer and it came and went from theaters there faster than you could speak it's title. Furthermore, every single review I'd read of the film described it as being pretty terrible.

But I've always been a bit of a fan of the "Rampaging Redneck" genre of filmaking which this movie fits squarely into so I was curious. Furthermore, the film stars Eliza Dushku, who won me over ever since she first appeared as Faith on TV's "Buffy The Vampire Slayer." Any opportunity to watch her spend 90 minutes running through the woods in a tight pair of jeans and a tank top strikes me as pretty good deal, so when it came out on video and DVD I counted myself in.

In the end, I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

For those unfamiliar with the Rampaging Redneck genre, pretty much every one of these films follows the same basic formula with minor variations. It almost always boils down to this: a group of A) well-armed but arrogant male hunters or B) over-sexed young people traveling through a rural backwater run afoul of a bunch of hateful and/or inbred rednecks. They then spend the rest of the movie running through the woods, trying to avoid being picked off one by one in particularly gruesome ways.

Not surprisingly, "Wrong Turn" wears its influences on its sleeve. Those influences include the infamous "X Files" episode "Home," Wes Craven's "The Hills Have Eyes," and, of course, the twin towers of the Rampaging Redneck genre, John Boorman's "Deliverance" and Tobe Hooper's original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre."

While "Wrong Turn" cribs shamelessly from all of the above sources it does so with style and intelligence and never degenerates into a blatant rip-off .

First off, the killers here of are of the cannibalistic inbred variety and as a result are a pretty fearsome lot. The film boasts more than its fair share of gore but it doesn't rely on splatter alone to generate thrills. Some of its more powerful scenes are those that leave the horror to the viewer's imagination.

For example, the scene where four of the travelers are forced to hide in the killers' cabin and two of them watch through a keyhole as the corpses of their friends are dismembered and devoured before their eyes packs a hell of a wallop. And the automobile graveyard scene, where they stumble across scores of stolen, ravaged vehicles that were owned by previous victims will haunt you for days mostly because of what it implies rather than shows.

The film does have its share of flaws. It's never explained why the killers here are cannibals in the first place. They can drive cars and are proficient hunters with enough intelligence to use guns as well as design and make their own knives, bows, and arrows. One wonders why they don't simply hunt deer, rabbits, and other game animals for food.

And though they are clearly the products of generations of inbreeding they are also all male. The fact that they slaughter and eat gorgeous young women as readily as strapping young men makes you wonder if and how they ever intend to procreate.

The film's protagonists mostly serve as victims and are never really developed as characters. Suffering most here is Dushku. On Buffy and in other film roles, her appeal always lay in the perfect balance she struck between sexiness and toughness but that doesn't come through as well here.

But if you've got some extra money burning a hole in your wallet and are looking for some hillbilly hellaciousness to spice up your DVD collection you could do worse than to pick this one up.

"Wrong Turn" is not a great movie but it is a surprisingly entertaining one.

Summary: One of the Top 10 Horror Movies of 2003
Review: This film is absolutly genius period.I was watching this at two am and it scared the crap out of me.If I had watched it in the daytime it would have been less scary, but it is still a highly effective movie the type of slasher horror film that you would want to watch with your girlfriend. The movie is about a man named Chris who ends up in a traffic jam turning around and hitting a car filled with five young kids, including Jeremy Sisto from another great horror film "May" and Eliza Dushku as well as others including Kevin Zegers. After four of them end up in a house looking for a phone they discover various human body parts, when the predictable thing happens. The cannibals show up.
With two of the kids hiding under a bed and the other two inside a closet, the suspense builds up as they discover some of their friends are about to be eaten for supper. All and all this a awesome horror film well worth the four dollar rental charge!

Summary: The Hills Have Eyes?!
Review: Wrong turn is a good suspense horror movie for 2003 but with a 70's feel. It is very close in plot to the hill have eyes, traped in a desolate location, crazy mutated hicks. The kills are good but typical, the acting is ok, and the charactors are likeable. All in all if you like horor movies check this one out it's worth a viewing.
