Summary: Can I Get A Woo-Woo!!!
Review: Will you ever go camping again? Will you ever go into WOODS again? Will you think about which way to go?This film was great. I bought it on the off-chance that I would like it, plus it had Eliza Dushku in it. I couldn't find any DVDs that I literally had to buy - plus I had plenty of money! - so I closed my eyes and made a grab for one. And this was in my hand! I wasn't sure what to expect from this - I vaguely remember publicity for it coming out, but didn't know the storyline or anything. I was quite surprised to discover that Stan Winston had a hand in producing this movie. I was disappointed when I saw his inbred "monsters". They weren't up to his usual standards from great movies such as Jurassic Park and the Terminator movies. I didn't find them scary at all, and they have very little screen time for the amount of makeup the poor guys have to sit through. Quite often the inbreds are seen from far away, or from behind. It's your typical 'teen' slasher flick, but with a more interesting approach to the film itself and the killings. The killings are very well thought out, and not your usual killings that you find. The best killing has to be Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui), who is decapitated through the head. This is a very freaky scene, as it's shown how they managed to do it in the extras. They also mention wanting the eyes to blink before you realise what's happened, which would have been absolutely wicked! But they don't do that unfortunately. Also, everyone gets separated, which is a must in these kind of films. Jeremy Sisto is very hard guy to place! He is so familiar, and I had to look him out before I discovered he played the mum's boyfriend in Thirteen - duh, only like one of my favourite films! Eliza Dushku is a great actress. She has a terrific screen prescence, and can certainly act her little socks off! She's lit up the screen before in True Lies and Bring It On, and hopefully will appear in lots more films. There is NOT a lot of cast in this when you think about it, and most of them get killed off pretty quickly. Most of the girls are wandering around in too small tops, with peanuts stuffed down them by the looks of it! (They're called bras, wear them) I tend to find from the start of these films, I know who's going to still be alive by the end of the movie. I was right with this one. As shown during the deleted scenes, there's a deleted scene between Desmond Harrington and Eliza Dushku, which shows the attraction between them. This scene would have been better left in, as I was rooting for them to be together! There are quite a few extras on this, although don't expect much, they're short and sweet just like me. The featurettes are pretty pointless, they're barely a couple of minutes of screen time. The extras include: an audio commentary by director Rob Schmidt and stars Desmond Harrington and Eliza Dushku; deleted scenes; four featurettes: "Making of Wrong Turn," "Eliza Dushku: Babe in the Woods," "Stan Winston," "Fresh Meat: The Wounds of Wrong Turn" and a poster concept art gallery. (The latter is very dull). There's only four deleted scenes if I remember correctly, and most of the time, they are slight extensions of the original scenes. Pretty basic. It's also a short and sweet movie, only 80 minutes. It's simple and straightforward, which means it doesn't take a lot of thought. This is definitely a must have for any horror movie fans collection. Don't believe reviews that say it's rubbish. Even for someone who hates it, has to give it stars at least for Eliza Dushku (or Desmond Harrington, depending on which way inclined you are).

Summary: Slightly above mediocre backwoods horror film
Review: While this isn't one of the best horror films I've ever seen it wasn't half-bad and was pretty entertaining. Finally the horror genre is becoming more and more popular again and some decent horror films are getting made again, finally! (enough with the I know what you did last summer part 8 garbage) Wrong Turn follows the over-used story of teens lost in the middle of nowhere, getting stalked, chased, and hunted by rednecks. (only this time they're crazy mutant rednecks) While this film would not be scary to the avid genre fan, it might be to some people. The acting is not terrible, but it is far from great. The main characters do so many stupid things throughout the film I wished they got killed sooner. There are a couple of good kill scenes (the axe half-capatation) and some shots of dismembered corpses and body parts, but I was thirsting for more. (I guess I'm just sick) The stand outs of the film are the redneck mutants, (one giant, one avg. size, one wirey little one) they look really cool, are really entertaining to watch, and sound like Sloth from Goonies. (yea!) If you're a casual or avid genre fan, this one is worth a watch. DVD extras: A making-of short, deleted scenes, audio commentary.

Summary: Cannibalism and suspense
Review: Okay a piece of advice. Don't watch this movie if you are jumpy. This movie is filled with suspense, gruesome act of cannibalism and more suspense. Eliza Dushku (Faith in BtVS & Angel) has done an explicit job in this movie as a girl who is in control of her situation and right on the minute. The villain, inbreed mutant who cannibalised their victim, mostly hikers, aren't as stupid as they look.

Summary: Finally a good Horror flick like in the golden years
Review: Wrong Turn is not original, believe me.It's Deliverance revisited with some influences from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Actually the story is really close to Deliverance. It's a slasher movies with great kills. Good direction, great visual effects, good acting. Many positive points indeed. If you like Horror genre from 70/80's, good on ya, hire or buy this one, you won't be disappointed as long as you don't really care about creativity and plot.The only thing I didn't like, is the 3 monsters who looked like Quasimodo. According to the Producer, they've been influenced by real life deformed people but well, it doesn't look too good and make them funnier than scarier. Well It didn't work for me. Most of the times, a man looking normal but with a deranded side, is scarier than a deformed mongol monster. Think about it ;) But don't wait another minute and enjoy this good Horror movie (Take it with the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and you get a cool Halloween night :)

Summary: Turning Points
Review: Right off the top, I have to admit the only reason I even wanted to see Wrong Turn at all, was because of my "friendly devotion" to Eliza Dushku. I waited though, after being unimpressed with any of the footage, I ever saw. I finally sat down recently to have a look. Chris Flynn (Desmond Harrington) is late for an important appointment. He decides to take a short cut in order to save time. The plan doesn't work. He ends up in a car accident with a group of friends on a camping trip for the weekend. Jesse (Dushku), Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui), and her future husband Scott (Jeremy Sisto) decide to leave the scene for help. The group soon find themselves on the run from a trio of gruesome backwood mountain men, who are hunting them, as both reward and nourishment. Director Rob Schmitdt calls Wrong Turn, a throwback to 70's cult horror classics like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Hills Have Eyes, among others, wanting to steer clear of the Scream formula. Unfortunately, as valiant as the effort is, it still falls short. Frankly, the desire to make a homage to past, just comes across as mostly recycled fare without much spark. The film itself runs only 84 minutes, therefore, there's not much to latch onto. I'm not saying there has to be oodles and oodles of character stuff here but a bit more development may have help. Produced by makeup and effects guru, the great Stan Winston and his team offer plenty of high quality gory scenes. But other than that, and one intense scene with Harrinton and Dushku under a bed, trying to aviod capture, it's not all that scary really. At first glance, the feature packed disc, sounds like it would be good fun in the extras department. Sadly, the sum total doesn't live up to the billing. The audio commentary from Schmidt, and stars Harrington and Dushku is just ok. They repeat themselves quite often and leave a few gaps of silence along the way. The Four featurettes: "Making of Wrong Turn," "Eliza Dushku: Babe in the Woods," "Stan Winston," and "Fresh Meat: The Wounds of Wrong Turn" are just fleeting 5 minute glimses of EPK style material. The "deleted scenes" amount to a sequence at a waterfall and alternate quick takes of a kill that occurs early on. Rounding out the disc are the usual theatrical trailer and a poster concepts gallery. You can watch the film in either the full-screen or widescreen formats on this double sided DVD. Despite Dushku's appearance and a nice amount of the gross out factor, I was still disappoiinted at its lack of true scares. ** and a half stars

Review: My Tital says it all! scary as hell! this is one of the most scary movies to come out in a long time!!! This movie is way better than 28 days later, the texas chainsaw massacre (the re-make) and just about any other scary movies! this is definatly worth alot of $$$money$$$ this is one of the best scary movies of all time!

Summary: What do you expect? Just have fun!
Review: I love horror movies, so I'm always a little biased towards schlock like Wrong Turn. My DVD collection includes vampires, werewolves, a man-eating mermaid, a killer tooth fairy and now: inbred mutant West Virginia mountain men! The flick is almost identical to Texas Chainsaw Massacre, but has some fun scenes up in the branches of California redwood trees. And how can I neglect Eliza Dushku? You have to love this fiesty, lovely tomboy. If it were not for her I don't think that I (or anyone else, for that matter) would have given Wrong Turn a second glance. She manages to carry the film to an entertaining conclusion. It's predictable, violent, and fun. Nothing new or original, but the movie embraces horror film stereotypes and does them justice. Don't pay much for this movie and don't go in with high expectations -- but break out the popcorn and enjoy.

Summary: Almost perfect slasher
Review: This movie....scared the crap out of me and my partner in the theaters and then it scared our friends when it came out on DVD. It is a lot like the Texas Chainsaw Masacre but a little more straight forward. It's one of those films where you can't help but blurt out "Don't go in there", "Run!" and my favorite "You are so dumb!" The characters aren't deep but they keep you interested in what will happen to them next. This is just a good movie to watch in the dark with "Surround Sound" on a widescreen TV. Don't forget the popcorn.

Review: Wanted to let y'all know, I just finished dinner before writing this, and my was it tasty..haven't had a meal from Connecticut for a while..ooops...got some hair in my teeth. Yessirree, Billy Bob, I come from West Virginia, home of the cinderblocked cars, extra tv satellites and inbred kinfolks. This here movie sure skeered the pants off of me and my wife/sister, but I don't think it was filmed here in West Virginia...didn't see any Dale Earnhardt Jr. license plates. Oh, well, WRONG TURN ought to keep furners out of our hills, and if it don't , you can stop by our hut for dinner.....we'd love to have ya!
