Summary: The father of splatter films
Review: Dawn of the Dead is the film that started it all. It began the bloody violence and gore that's overshadowed story these days in horror films. That's not to say Dawn of the Dead doesn't have a story. It's rather ironic that Dawn's special effects are cheap and its story is excellent instead of vice versa as many horror films are in the 90's. The film's plot is about four survivors zombie chaos in a city who take refuge in an abandoned mall. They must defend their new home from zombies as well as looters. Still, the film's low budget did make the zombies look fake, but that wasn't the major problem. This film wasn't scary, but that could have improved on if the zombies moved quicker or moaned loudly or if the characters in the film looked scared more often. (For crying out loud, Roger kept whooping "yee-ha" as he knocked zombies down) Heck, when Tom Savini entered the film, he was hugely outnumbered by zombies and he didn't even seem the least bit scared, nor to deny the fact that the zombies were moving slower than slugs. There was a scene that didn't make much sense. When those two child zombies attacked Peter, they were running, and I've never seen a zombie do that before. Well, it's still a pretty good movie. I can understand why so many people call it a classic, although I am surprised that only few people hate this film despite the poor special effects.

Summary: The greatest horror film of all time....
Review: This coming from a tough critic. DAWN OF THE DEAD is an epic horror, and no other zombie film in exisitence, or ANY horror film has been able to out-do this masterpiece.

This film in Romero's dead trilogy takes place a few weeks after Night of the Living Dead. Society is going to hell...people are rioting, killing each other, and destroying everything...and isn't that funny? Most of the problems are not caused by the zombies THEMSELVES...but by the humans. A very accurate statement on the human race. However, a TV traffic reporter decides that he and his girlfriend, along with a couple of SWAT officers, should "borrow" the station helicopter and get the hell out of Dodge. They do so, and find themselves landing on a large shopping mall after a series of close calls. The longer they hole up in the mall, however, the more they become ambitious. They then decide to take over the mall, and shut out the dead....they live in a paradise that quickly eats them away...but they have a trouble headed towards them worse than any zombies.

This movie has it all, awesome music by GOBLIN, adventure, action, horror, and comedy. You really love the characters, who develop quite nicely throughout the movie. In my humble opinion, this film has one of (if not the best) endings in horror history. No, don't expect any twists...it's just one of the best, and represents a sour victory perfectly.

Every human being owes it to themselves to be treated with this wonderful movie. Buy it.

Summary: NUDITY? Where did that come from?
Review: I first saw this film 15 years ago. It was the first tape I ever rented and I still get a kick out of watching it today. After buying it on tape 2 different times, the second with a bogus promise of being a Directers Cut, I'm happy to say the DVD version is actually that. Although why did Romero delete the groovy Goblin music in the opening TV station sequence? And after seeing this movie many, many times, it's the first time I noticed that Gayleen Ross is showing her breasts when she's sitting up in bed after her "romantic evening" with Flyboy. DVD clarity strikes again. But I have to say, there is something a little spookier about watching this film on a worn out VHS. Savini's effects look better when diffused. I doubt this film ever looked this sharp, even in the best movie theatre in Pittsburgh.

Summary: More than a horror novel and film, DAWN is a way of life!
Review: Simply this: The film, DAWN OF THE DEAD, changed my life back in 1979 when I was a kid. I honestly and truly never have been quite the same since. Seriously. The film novelization sticks relatively close to the actual film, though does add some interesting little expositionary passages, conversations, and character motivations--not to mention a bit more background into the characters' lives. If you love the film you'll definitely love the novel! It's gripping, chilling, and mind-bogglingly exciting and addictive. What a story and what an epicly grand and inspired stage Romero chooses to play it all out on! Amazing stuff...at once nightmarish and bleak, yet also life-affirming, hopeful, and humorous. Tell me Romero isn't a genius (this and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD is all the proof I need!). This book is just a rousing rollercoaster ride--as is the film. I eat, drink, and sleep this novel (and the film, which even inspired me to publish a bi-monthly zine devoted to it), and you will too. A masterpiece!

Summary: One of they best horror movies ever made!
Review: This one of the best zombie movies ever made I went out and bought the movie I loved it so much. This movie has a great plot and amozon charters. I can't wait till the movie he is making for the Sony Playstaion video game Redient Evil comes out. This movie is not simialar to any movie I have ever seen. The reason why I love this movie so much is that is so scary and very intense. Also there is one thing in common with the most of these movies is that they never really exaplian much on how the hole mess even satarted. Then agian it is kind of good to be left in the dark about some issue.

Summary: BEST MOVIE OF THE TYPE EVER MADE
Review: THE MOVIE IS SPINE TINGLING ENTERTAINMENT FROM THE BEGINNING TILL THE END, IT FEATURES SOME FINE ACTING BY THE LEAD SWAT CHARACTERS AND A GREAT SUPPORTING CAST. THE ZOMBIES ARE A LITLLE UNREALISTIC BUT THE MOVIE IS OLD AND EFFECTS HAVE IMPROVED SO MUCH THAT WE ARE A LITTLE SPOILED BUT THE OLD FASHION GOOD SCRIPT IS THERE. THE STORY MAKES SOME SENSE AND THE PLOT IS ENGAGING AND MANAGES TO MAKE THE VIEWER TRULY INTERESTED IN THE CHARACTERS..IT IS A MUST HAVE MOVIE FOR ANY HORROR FAN-A RARE MOVIE THAT TOPS EVEN THE FINE ORIGINAL FILM.THIS MOVIE REMADE TODAY WOUDLD BECOME AN INSTANT BLOCKBUSTER.

Summary: Dawn of the Dead sucks
Review: This was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The plot, dialogue, and special effects are all completely laughable. I did not get scared once during the movie and I laughed the entire movie because of how bad it was. I don't understand how people think this is a good movie.
