Summary: Yes Indeed The Zombies Have Come Back For a Rematch
Review: Personally when I saw this in the 5th grade, it did not scare me one bit. I loved all the killing of zombies and of course "Theyre coming to get you Barbera". I recently watched it and it scared the Hell out of me! I also watched the origional which has a different storyline than this but thats okay. I like the origional almost as much as I like the remake. Barbera goin catatonic in the 1st movie kept annoying me anyway. Iv'e read quite alot of reviews trashing the director for changing the movie. Keep in mind he just directed it, you should be attacking the writers. I watched Dawn of the Dead after this which is still my fav. of the trilogy. This DVD is to...die for, MAHAHHAHHAH

Summary: Pretty Goofy and Hysterical... but Very Enjoyable
Review: I used to think zombies freaked me out, especially when I saw those types of movies when I was little. I openly admit that "Resident Evil" scared the hell out of me and I thought they did a great job of making that movie scary and creepy. Well... the same cannot be said for "Night of the Living Dead." The zombies are goofy, slow, stupid, and not very scary at all. In fact the film is rather humorous at times when it's trying to be serious. And yet... I still found it all to be quite entertaining.For those who are looking for a movie that will make their skin crawl, give them nightmares, and make them scream... well, I suggest finding another horror movie. Because this one is most likely going to do none of the above. But that does not mean you will not enjoy it. As stupid and ridiculous I found the movie to be, I still enjoyed watching it. I haven't seen the original, but I plan to being that I have seen this one and "Return of the Living Dead." Zombies that are by themselves are pretty funny and humorous. However, I do admit when they attack in packs it does get a little bit creepy, but not by much. There's really not that much of a plot, and the movie never really gives us a full or complete explanation of why the undead walk. One of the main problems I had with the movie is at the end when it tries to give us a "message." I'm all for movies having a message at the end... but leave them out of the friggen' zombie flicks, okay? It's already impossible to take the movie seriously, so please spare us the "theme" or "message" you're trying to send to us. Horror flicks don't need messages, or at least that's what I think. I don't want people to get the wrong idea and think I hated the movie, as it does seem I'm being rather harsh. I really did like it and enjoy it. I enjoyed it for what it was. I wasn't scared by it, and I laughed more when I should've been scared, but it was still a pretty enjoyable flick. The DVD's got some cool extras, such as commentary, trailers, widescreen and fullscreen versions of the film, a featurette, and more. The picture and sound quality is actually pretty decent, considering how low of a budget this film was made. Are you going to be scared by this movie? Probably not. Are you going to find the zombies goofy and hysterical? Most likely. Will you still be able to enjoy the movie? By all means! If you're looking for a serious horror flick, then I'd recommend you to look for something else, but if you'd like a fun horror film, then check out "Night of the Living Dead." It's not the best, but it's far from the worst. It is something I can see myself seeing again, without question.

Summary: Awesome remake of a classic
Review: The original scared the hell out of me, this one is no different. A modern day version of the classic that started it all. If you liked the original you will enjoy this too. A little different story, but 95% the same. I actually like this one better. But it's not as good as the original, nothing can top that one. The end has an interesting moral to it. Pure hell on earth and pure enjoyment...THEY'RE COMMING TO GET YOU BARBARA!

Summary: Tom Savini astounds with Romero's updated script.
Review: I was so skeptical about this that it was out for years before I ever saw it. Why bother remaking a classic? Well, because frankly it fixes the things that bugged me in the original. Barbra has been transformed from a comatose gimp to a heroine who rises from her initial shock to find more strength than she ever knew she had. The acting is great! I watched the original again last night, and I must say that the acting alone is worth remaking it. The conflict between Ben and Cooper makes a bit more sense this time around. Ben's fate, which was needed in the original, gets a satisfying twist, but Cooper's fate is even better. WOW! Classic lines like "Here's another one for the fire" get a stunning spin. The lighting is too bright and I must admit some of the creepiness of the original depended on shadows in black and white, but that doesn't keep me from loving this fantastic remake. (I swear, they must have found the same farmhouse.)

Summary: Almost a compleatly different movie........
Review: When a remake is made of a movie that you enjoyed you go see it no matter what. I wish that were not true. Tom Savini, the make up wizard behind Dawn Of The Dead and other classic horror films takes over the reign of director and try as he might the magic is gone.
The movie becomes very politically correct very early and never seems to let up.
The premis is still the same. The dead return to life and attack the living. Pat Tallman plays Barbara the heroin who in the first film became almost catatonic a half hour into the film
(people have compared this to what Hitchcock did in Physcho killing off the lead). This time however she's more of a take charge kind of woman and that would be fine if not for the fact that it totally underminds one of the main plot twists. Tony Todd is the only one who comes off well in this film as the hero Ben. He comands the proformance the way that Duane Jones did in the original. The rest of the cast is very forgettable.
Remakes have been made befor and have been good (remember that Ben-Hur was a remake) this one however fails to live up to even Day Of The Dead the weakest of all the trilogy.
I have no problem with this film being remade. There are points of the first one that could be updated and if this movie were in better hands (John Carpenter, John Landis, Wes Craven or Steve Spielberg) this could have been a very good remake, instead it seems that Savini was more worried about how it looked than what the final result was.
I have heard that a remake of Dawn Of The Dead is in the works and ,I'm sorry to say, I will go see it.

Summary: Great Fun!!
Review: This is one of my favorite horror films ever. I like this remake just a little more than the original. The reason I like this one more is because of Patricia Tallman's character. She doesn't whine the whole time as the lead female did in the original. She's right alongside Tony Todd's character kicking Zombie[s]! That's the other reason I like this film better. Tony Todd. A better lead could not have been casted! He does a wonderful job.
As far as just how scary this movie is, I think the original was a little scarier. The reason I think this is because I believe that the dreadful feeling and sense of helplessness was captured better in black and white. Don't get me wrong though, as this remake does offer up many scares.
One reason I think this is such a classic is that it's completely original. Seven strangers boarded up in an old farm house, while zombies are all around, trying to get in and eat them. I can't think of many situations that could be more terrifying! Great horror film.

Summary: Decent Horror film
Review: This one was one of the best Zombie films I have seen. The acting is good and the actor who plays Ben does a really good job and Patricia Tallman does a good job too. The character cooper is just plain dumb. I can't beleive anyone in the situation would act so stupid. Had he even tried to cooperate he would have seen the keys downstairs where he was at like 80% of the film. I don't know why I harp so much on this character but stupid characters just annoy me. I am so glad he gets his head blasted off in the end because I was seriously thinking about doing it myself. Anyways I have not seen the 1968 noncolor version but I am sure it is decent since the previous reviews have said its not much different from this one. The ending to this one doesnt really make much sense but I guess thats just me. Good points: decent plot, good scary feeling of being trapped, Cooper dies. Coolest part: Ben wrestling and boxing all the dead people after the gas pump blows up. Cooper dies. Worst part: none really...too bad Ben dies

Review: Maybe Savini, who is a horror f/x master will one day get to remake Fulci's Zombie and instead of having all the Zombies walking on the bridge he'll have them dancing and skipping as they hold hands. It's a more Hollywood ending much like his Hollywood ending in this re-make. I'd expect this from someone outside the genre but not a guy like Savini! I'm currently fearing the remakes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre and both Dawn and Day of the Dead! All 3 are getting remade and I fear what will become of these classic films. Re-makes are made for a whole new audience that wasn't able to get the thrills of when the original came out or maybe for those who haven't seen the original! Why re-make a film when you are going to change everything good about it?

Summary: Decent but filled with problems!
Review: Ok let me first just say this. If Romero had never created the original this film would be a classic. The problem is that this film can't be a classic or a really good re-make because it is full of changes. The most obvious and annoying change is the ending of the film. Why did Savini, who is a good friend of Romero's and did the effects for the last two Dead films need to ruin an excellent ending? Why did Barbra become the hero in the film and the...kicking gun weilding action star in the movie when she was a mumbling mess in the original? Why was it that Ben went completly insane and when did he get killed/bit by a zombie? Was it because of the gunshots that Cooper gave to him? If so why have the pain in the...guy kill of the main character from the first in the updated version when it was the main character, Ben who killed off the pain in the ...guy Cooper in the original, not Barbra! Another main problem I had was the whole part with Cooper's daughter Sara. Savini changed it all around and once again ruined one of the great scenes from the original film. Sara was supposed to kill her mother, which she did but of course she didn't with the tool, which we do see but hanging on the wall (people who didn't see the original most likely were confused as to why it showed it twice hanging on the wall). Of course then we have Sara come out of the basment and there is a showdown with her dad, who doesn't want to shoot here and Barbra, who once again plays hero and kills her, which once again isn't how it happend in the original! I loved the original where Ben wasn't just shot accidently by the guys killing the zombies. This movie made him out to be worthless! I also loved in the original how the t.v. told alot of the story and what was happening but in this it didn't play much of a role. I just loved the original too much to completly enjoy this. I know Romero had a hand in it but mainly it was Savini's movie. I was also upset with the lack of gore in this film, which was shocking because I thought the original had more! Whenever a zombie was killed you didn't see it... This is a movie from one of the greates f/x guys in the horror business and there wasn't much gore! The movie just lost it's creppiness, something that the black and white added and something that all the great make-up and gore added to Dawn and Day. This movie is ok and is way better than alot of the lower budgeted so-called Romero tribute zombie films out there...It's a decent movie but nowhere near the original or the two follow-ups! I actually enjoyed Return Of The Living Dead much more than this movie, which is more of a comdey than a horror movie....
