Review: Let me begin by saying that this movie is absolutely hilarious. Opposed to the the Evil Dead and The Evil Dead II, this movie has less gore and more humor. Ash has become an all time favorite for not only myself, but also my son with his satirical humor. This is definately a movie for the light-hearted, who can look at things in a different light. Definately not a realistic movie, but not one that should be taken seriously either.

Summary: Bootleg Edition - Director's Cut is Grooovy!
Review: Basicly, this is just the Limited Edition Director's Cut DVD, in a 'homemade' style package. It looks like it has a paper bag wrapped around the cover, and all the front art & back infos are written in felt-pen. There is a short message from Bruce Campbell scribbled on the back of the 'bag' as well. The dvd disc itself has been made to look like a 4x DVD-R, labled with a felt pen also. Pretty funny stuff! The contents of the disc are exactly the same as the limited edition version, even the menus are exactly the same. A great disc, and much cheaper than that hard-to-find limited edition version... if you missed the LE version, or just want a copy with hilarious packaging, then grab this now!

Summary: Bad Ash
Review: Well here it is, new packaging, same classic film. This film has got to be in one of the best trilogies ever made, i mean, its all classic stuff, horror, comedy, and an unbeatable performance by Bruce Campbell. This DVD is definantly one to have, i have enjoyed this film many times over, and its still good after all the times i've viewed it. All of the extra's on this edition are the same as the Director's cut, which this is what this is, but it is almost impossible to find the original anymore, if you do, the price is pretty steep. Anyway's back to the DVD, any fan of this series should own this edition, it is a must for a collector, and any one who missed out on the first directors cut, i like the original ending better, seemed somewhat like what you would have expected ash to do. So what are you waiting for, go out and get this DVD now.....

Review: Okay, Now let me just say right off the bat that I love this movie. It's Irrellvant, Campy, Tounge in Cheek, And immensely entertaining. It's directed with a mentality of a high school kid just having fun, but fortunately, that 'Kid' Is Sam Rami and he directs with Talent and skill. Many Scenes in this movie Pay homage too Cult classics such as "The day the earth Stood still", "Jason and the Argonauts", "The Wolfman", Gullivers Travels", and "The Three stooges". Meanwhile the original stuff is entertaining and mostly humorous. Good performances and Creative and innovative sets round out this move, but The main Attraction is Bruce Campbell In the role he's known for; Ash. Formally Employed in 'S-marts' housewares section, now working for king arthur trying too stay alive agianst Undead ghouls, He's Perfect As the Irrevelant, Dopey, obtuse, yet Witty, heroic, and charasmatic Main Charachter. Legend has it Campbell wrote most of his own lines for the film, And This Film is Famous for it's one liners. But what impresses me is that I can't imagine Mel, Jaun-claude, or Auhnald, making me bust a gut while saying these one liners. Bruce Campbell will entertain and amuse all but the most humorless of individual with his performance. The movie drags here and there for Brief periods... But it is a sincerely entertaining way too spend eighty minutes of your life. Groovy

Review: Hilarious!!!! I saw this film before I saw either of the evil dead movies and it does fine on it's own (it did get me to rent the other two though). Don't go looking to get scared here. This movie is not a horror film but, rather, a sarcastic spin on all those bloated, bigger than life, action hero movies (which I usually like as well) in a horror film wrapper. My favorite line.... "Lady I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave the store." How many films could make losing your hand funny?

Summary: This is my BOOM STICK!
Review: Army of Darkness, the third movie in the cult classic, is the crown jewel of the series. Whereas the previous two were more of the classic horror movie, this one is geared towards a more comic genre. This one picks up where the last one left off and we find Ash stranded in the Middle Ages surrounded by Knights who think he is an enemy. Our shot-gun packing hero soon takes charge of the situation and what follows is certainly one of the most hilarious movies I've ever seen. Bruce Campbell is perfect as Ash. He obviously relishes the role and plays it to the hilt. Director Sam Raimi would go on to bigger and better things (For Love of the Game and other movies) but this one is my favorite by far. If you love horror and comedy, this DVD is a must have. 4.5 stars.

Review: this movie is just a blast to watch. it's a bit of a change up in the evil dead series, it's even more willing to make fun of itself then the previous two movies. bruce campbell is great, he plays his character with such an absurd seriousness that you just have to laugh whenever he's on the screen. and while the effects aren't exactly the best in hollywood, they do a fine job and the dvd has a lot of stuff. just having this cut of the film plus the alternate ending and all makes it worthwhile to me. and i don't think you need to be a horror fan to enjoy it either..i think this is more of an action film then horror, but maybe that's just me.

Review: Confused by all the Army of Darkness DVD releases (some in print, some out of print, some lingering halfway between)? I know I was. But I've done some research and figured it out, and here's how it breaks down: 1. The original DVD release-- was the original theatrical version of the movie with few extras. Good picture, good sound, S-Mart ending. If you just want to watch the best available version of the movie, you might get this one (if you can still find it; it's out of print now). It also has the familiar movie poster cover with an overly muscled Bruce and the hokey "Low on gas" slogan. 2. The director's cut-- with the silly Molly Hatchet cover and the original ending. There are many minuses: key lines are changed (not necessarily for the better). Much of the footage looks really horrible, including the entire concluding battle. All the deleted scenes have the feel of an eBay-purchased bootleg. Bottom line: AOD fans will like to see the material, but this is hardly the movie's best presentation. It's still circulating but they're not making any more of them. 3. The special edition-- probably the best DVD release of the movie to date. The 2 disc version (which, like the director's cut, is nearing the end of its availability) is great. It features both the watchable theatrical version and the borderline-unwatchable director's cut. It has commentary, unlike every other release, although the commentary is only available when viewing the director's cut. It has a making-of featurette. The single disc version (now the primary version of AOD available) is only a slight downgrade; basically, it's the theatrical release, lookin' and soundin' fine, with the original ending as an extra, and the making of featurette also included. (The commentary is sadly missing.) In summary: You can't go wrong with the single disc special edition or the even better double disc special edition. Avoid the director's cut unless you already own the original DVD and just want to see all the new footage in all its grainy glory. The original DVD is a fine purchase if you just wanna watch the movie, already.
