Summary: Just to second what everyone else is commenting on...
Review: ...Yes the cheapskates have stopped putting the 3-D glasses inside the product, in spite of the fact that the packaging stlii claims that they're included, and in spite of the fact that one entire side of the disc is rendered useless without them. So don't bother re-ordering multiple copies in the hope that one will turn up; If you get an early pressing, yeah, but it really isn't very likely. A pair of 3-D shades retails for around 40 cents (if you can find just one pair for sale), so it isn't a great financial burden to get them, but the aggravation is considerable, not to mention the feeling that the only reason you are having to go through said aggravation in the first place is due to the mendacity of Columbia/TriStar Home Video. I would've kicked my rating for the disc up a star if the manufacturers had only kept their word.
As for the movie itself, it's a wonderfully entertaining idiot's horror movie, as good (or "good", if you know what I mean) as HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL, and better than THE TINGLER. William Castle never made a good movie, but he never made a boring one either, and for goofy period thrills, you can't beat his overwought exploitation pics. How can you not love a movie which contains an average American family with two young kids named Buck and Medea?

Summary: NOT ONE OF CASTLE'S BEST.....
Review: A displaced family complete with a cute little kid gets a bargain on a creepy old house complete with a sinister housekeeper. Then they learn it has a still very active history of spooky doings. The father finds a journal of the former owner that explains the house is haunted and a weird pair of glasses that enable him (and the audience) to see the "ghosts". It all turns out to be about money on the property and someone's after it. Despite the 3-D gimmick stuff, I find this William Castle spook effort frustratingly disappointing. The combination of "haunted house" movie and family flick just doesn't work for me. It's just too silly and too many good ideas are used to inane effect. Interesting, though, to see Rosemary DeCamp in a Castle movie but she's wasted as the mom. Still, I can't recommend this with much enthusiasm. It plays like a 50's family sitcom. If that's your cup of tea then you might enjoy this. Otherwise, it's too tame for a "horror" movie. I like Castle's other films a lot better.

Summary: 13 Ghosts is Scary & Fun
Review: Another chilling low budget horror film from William Castle and Robb White. This one has the penniless Zorba family inheriting a haunted house that contains 12 ghosts. They need a 13th to set them free. This has some interesting casting. Margaret Hamilton, who is best known for playing the Wicked Witch of the West in the 1939 Wizard of Oz, appears as Elaine, the housekeeper who is also a witch. Very fun movie with real ghosts. It can be scary at times, especially the scene where Sy Zorba is locked in a secret room and sees all the ghosts. The spectre of a butcher with a meat cleaver is frightening. Good family entertainment for a stormy night.

Summary: Very good William Castle film
Review: As I watched this film, I was prepared for a cheesy haunted house flick, but I dicovered the essence of this film that makes it remain a classic after forty-one years.
As the opening titles are about to set out, we see the twelve ghosts that haunt the house throughout the film. Some look shocking, but others are cheesy. Oh well.
The story centers around a family that inherits a house and find out that it is haunted, much to the son's excitement. They enter the house and discover that it really is haunted. But watch out for the laywer that handled the estate before the uncle's death. Also, watch for the witch like housekeeper that seems too creepy to be true.
Overall, a good movie to watch, but not a terrifying film that other movies may supply.

Summary: The orginal.
Review: As the case with many other old horror films most people see the new one and think the old one's bad too, well I can say this film is far better then it's re make, it has some good jumps, and the classic message of becareful what you wish for.

Summary: 13 Ghosts not much scary, not much fun
Review: I bought this film thinking that I would be scared to death and have fun watching it because of the ghost viewers. I thought that was a cool idea. I saw it and it was not scary at all! The ghosts aren't scary and you don't even need the ghost viewers to see the ghosts! Another dumb thing was that the family knew the house had 13 ghosts, but they still moved in and after someone gets attacked, they don't even bother to leave. I was a bit dissapointed. Some ghosts are not even shown! The remake is way better then this one.

Summary: Creepy Castle Classic!
Review: I first heard of William Castle when I bought the movie "House on Haunted Hill", which quickly became one of my favorite "ghost shows". I watched the re-make of this film before I had a chance to see the original, and was intrigued. When my birthday came about, and I found this movie, I had no excuse. What a thrill! I was unfortunate enough to have missed out on the 3-D craze of the 50's, but thanks to Columbia/Tristar, Illusion-O is back with a vengance! The movie makes great use of deep, haunting sound and the ghostly visuals to keep it creepy. Now, don't get me wrong, mostly this is Mayberry horror, but there are a few scenes that honestly got me to jump! Like the others, I lament not having more "ghost-viewers" to share with my friends, but even without the viewers, this Castle show is definately worth seeing. So make sure you keep your viewers close, and after the movie, give your dark house a good look-through with them to be sure none of the strange specters followed YOU home......
