Summary: one of the best horror films ever made
Review: I first saw this movie on the sci fi channel. i could never forget the last movie's final scenes. they stay with you forever! if you like this movie, be sure to check out the Dario Argento collection just released on achor bay video. It includes TENEBRE, PHENOMENA(CREEPERS), DEMONS, and DEMONS 2. More horror films should be made this way!

Summary: Amazing music video masquerading as a movie
Review: This movie is an amazing feat of music, directing, and atmosphere. Turn off the lights, sit back, and be scared out of your hair.

Summary: "Suspiria" is one of my favorite horror movies
Review: This movie makes no sense! Why would a coven of witches start a dancing school? Why would they kill people in such gory and attention-getting ways (couldn't they have just caused them to vanish, or make them appear to die of natural causes, thus deflecting attention away from the school?) What was going on with Susy Banion and her first roommate, Olga (was Olga in on the scheme, or what? Did I miss something?) That said, Suspiria is a wonderful film! Just ignore the storyline (it makes no sense, obviously)--and appreciate the camerawork, the startling, almost lurid colors, the unique soundtrack and, I believe, one of the scariest scenes ever filmed (yes, those last five minutes are horrifying!) I highly recommend this movie!

Summary: If ever there was a turkey of a film, this is it
Review: Dario Argento definately hit an all time low with this overlong excursion into the absurd and ludicrous. Jessica Harper is a ballet student from New York who is attending the German Dance Academy run by Joan Bennet and a Naziest dance instuctor. The story is convoluted and filled with holes and the music score is the most annoying in film history. The acting here is not even amaturish, it is just plain awful. On the box of the video, it states 'the only thing more terrifying than the last 5 minutes of this film are the first 90!', it should of stated, 'the only thing more ridiculous than the last 5 minutes of this film is the entire film itself. I cannot begin to trash this film enough, it is that bad. Stay away from this movie!!!

Summary: A HORROR CLASSIC
Review: Sure there are some weak spots in this, as in all other Argento pics. I encourage all viewers of the recent "Screamsummerbuffy" set to sit through this one though. You won't see a visual presentation like this anywhere else. The climax of the opening scene in "Scream" is a direct homage to the start of SUSPIRIA. They don't make them like this anymore, Argento included.

Summary: Dario Argento's Suspiria
Review: Suspiria is an excellent startingpoint for those who have never beenexposed to Argento's style of horrorfilms. The film is perhaps the bestexample of his use of color filteringto provide an almost "acid trip" voyagethrough a young dancer's nightmareexperience at school that is home to acoven of witches. I promise that anyonewho watches this film (horror fan or not) will never forget it. To anyonewho seeks out a copy of Suspiria (whichwas recently re-released is its uneditedform) and wants to see more of what Argento has done, I would suggest thatyou look for Deep Red and Unsane. Bothare out of print, but can be found atmany video rental stores. An uneditedversion of Unsane (in its original title-Tenebrae) can be found on some ofthe Argento web sites. Tenebrae is myfavorite Argento film, but Suspiria isthe work he is known by, and the filmthat should be seen by anyone who wantsto know who Dario Argento really is.

Summary: Great fun
Review: To the average horror fan, Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA is a gothic and wonderfully terrorfying film with eye-popping sets and a delightful score by the 'Goblins' and after the first 12 minutes of the film, people with weak stomachs may feel a little green but to anyone besides that, SUSPIRIA is a must-see. END

Summary: Stylish scares!
Review: Dario Argento's magnificent horror film about strange goings-on at a world-famous ballet school. Argento adds tons of style and atmosphere to this marvelously logic-defying tale of terror. Definitely not for the faint-hearted or weak of stomach! END

Summary: Yikes!
Review: Suspiria was made a long time ago, in film terms, anyway. Yet it still seems modern, despite being very stylized. This film is unmistakably European and decidedly scary. The story goes something like this: A naive and innocent American girl gets sent to a deadly, decadent, and wicked European dance school (in Germany, no less); soon all hell breaks loose and our American ballerina is fighting for her life; I agree with another viewer that the heavily synthesized score really under'scored' the stylized horror of the film. You may be wondering about my use of the word style, but once you've seen the film you're sure to agree after seeing just a few minutes of its eerie sets and haunting music. It's like a truly terrifying haunted house at the fair; and those have never frightened me. Or maybe it's because I was really really stoned when I saw this movie. That tends to heighten the excitement.
Cheers!
R.
