Summary: If you don't like it, it's your own fault!
Review: This is one of those movies that you should apply just a little thought before watching it and using your standard rating system. Anyone that is mad because they hated this movie only needs to blame themselves for not checking it out beforehand. It's a movie about a VIDEO GAME. Just about everything bad in the movie is supposed to be that way. Characters gratuitiously dying off as they are no longer needed, a miraculous appearance of a box full of guns, "holstered" gun reloads (they were strangely both obvious and tactful with this), a house that is obviously bigger on the inside than on the outside, an evil doctor behind it all, etc.

If you want to watch a shameless and valueless movie of video game quality, here it is. If you don't want to see that sort of thing, it should be obvious enough that's what this movie is so don't watch it.

But I do have to give the game/movie credit for not being another movie with zombies that do a slow sleepwalk. These zombies want to $%&# you up and don't waste much time doing it.

Summary: INSULTED BY HOUSE OF THE DEAD
Review: I just saw a piece of Crap Called House of The Dead. This movie is a slap in the face of Very good horror movies, and a slap in the face of Very Bad horror movies. I mean I've seen them all, and this is the Dumbest movie that wasn't worth watching. I've seen Mindless garbage that held my interest. and I've seen garbage that held and sustained a level of intelligence, which doesn't hide the fact these movies were retarded. I'm a lover of bad movies because they are a joy to watch. Because they again are so aweful and captivating. These guys call themselves film makers? Jesus I haven't seen such dribble in my life. i litterally saw so many mistakes in this film it makes me wonder who are the amature film makers in the world? I remember one scene where this girl was swimming naked in the water and you could see water dripping and sliding off the camera lens. I saw this twice in fact. then the worst mistake is when the zombies started coming out of the wood work. I litterally saw a zombie jumping onto a ground projectile or something to make someone appear as if they were leaping high into the air like some zombie acrobat. I actually saw the device lift this guy up into the air. Now that is really cheap. and then there is the issue of the so called gore and special effects. I thought it was very poor quality. and then the matrix rip off scenes. How did these people get all these guns? and when did they train to be such good shots? And why is the guy from Das Boot in this peice of crap.

If I could live my life over again and be forced to watch on multiple tv sets, the golden girls Punky Brewster the facts of life, fried green tomatoes or anything involving Kathy Lee Gifford. I would do this in a heart beat. This piece of Crap makes Battle Field Earth, the epic film of the Century. I say Shame on Artisen Pictures and Shame on Sega for creating crap.

Summary: DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!
Review: Usually I am very tolerant to movies that entertain, even when the movie get 1-2 stars from movie critics.

But, I can tell you in my second sentence, DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE, even if (1) you are very tolerant to crap movie, (2) you like the SEGA Video Games, (3) you have 2 hours to spend for practically doing nothing.

It is not only will waste your time, but most important, you will feel very-very-very irritated.

Why?
1. Worst Acting. Before this, I consider Indonesian artists who play local TV series are suck, but now they look much better.
2. There is no character..... I repeat no character. I do not say weak character. All roles seem to have multi-personality. Sometimes so coward, sometime heroic, sometime melancholic... *yuck*
3. Irrational. Again... this *irrational* word is not enough to show how this movie insulted my mind. A girl who showed that she is very afraid, suddenly can fight like Jet Li, use weapon like Arnold in Commando, and use sword like McLoud in Highlander.

I will not write more....... DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE. Definitely 0/10.

I could've been better.

Summary: Worst...movie...ever.
Review: In conclusion, is a weird way to start a review since it usually ends it, but after watching 5 minutes of this movie, you'll wish it would end. This is more like a cancerous mole on Hollywood's [...], than it is an actual movie. To give you an idea how bad this movie is, it makes "Freddy Vs. Jason" look like "Casablanca."

First of all, the storyline makes no sense at all. A big rave is taking place on some island of the coast of Washington, and despite the fact that it's being sponsored by a major corporation like Sega, there is no security or anybody to keep the riff-raff out. The background info makes no sense. A boat with some prisoner on it is traveling from Spain, and after apparently traveling all the way around the world, the prisoner ends up on this island. The was already killed though, and despite being dead, he manages to revive himself using his own magic potion. That is exactly how it takes place, makes a lot sense, doesn't it?

If there was an award for worst director, the [person] who directed this movie would win it. This is a man who used scenes from the nearly 10-year-old arcade game (without taking out the health icons or GAME OVER from the game screens) as transitions and to apparently remind us this movie is based on a game. The director also has a flashback scene, of some sorts, when a character dies during the big battle scene in the middle of the movie. The flashback is just a quick montage of the first half of the battle that is still being fought while the character is having the flashback! One last thing, this is a note to all movie-makers out there, if your going to put Matrix-esque slo-mo and spinning camera movements, make sure it looks better than when it was done in "The Matrix," a movie that was released 5 years ago!

The acting is a confusing topic, when talking about this movie. Where is it? Basically, you could replace every "actor" and "actress" with labotamy patients, and you would still have the same movie! The movie's best actor would have to be Jurgen Prochnow, or the captain in "Das Boot." Surprisingly, he plays a ship's captain. He is the only likeable character and has the movies best line. When one of the "helpless teenagers" is yelling at him to shoot one of the attacking zombies and yells "SHOOT IT! SHOOT IT!" his response is: "What do you think I'm trying to do, you ... moron."

The zombies are another thing. While the zombie makeup is on par with "Night of the Living Dead" and "Dawn of the Dead" (and by that I mean the makeup is exactly the same, and hasn't improved on one bit), the zombie movement is horrible. The extras and director apparently couldn't decide what kind of zombies they wanted. Some move like the classic Romero zombies, and others move like the new-age "28 Days Later" zombies. And neither kind zombie is any good at the style they chose.

Overall, the only way to describe this movie is:
[Expletive Deleted]

Summary: Avoid this movie at all cost!!!!
Review: Worst Movie Ever!!! - I'm a big movie buff. I've watched many movies, both good and many bad. Even most of the bad movies have some redeeming quality, feature, or theme that make them tolerable. This movie has none. This movie has the silliest plot, the corniest actors, and horrible special effects. Do yourself a favor and avoid this flick.

Summary: Y slag off a gud movie
Review: This movie has not bein released here in the uk yet and i doubt it will if people like you slag it off so much that the film producers dont bother giving it to us (i own it after having to import it from u lot and i think it is an ok film not the best ive seen but better than what ur making it out to be). If your complaining there aint enough horror and gore out there then you should watch the awsum film "Cradle Of Fear" by Alex Chandon. It has everything you need horror, gore and a story line.

Summary: Horrible Horrible Horrible
Review: I would give this movie a -100 stars if I could. People shouldn't even be allowed to make movies as bad as this one. TERRIBLE acting, I'm actually at a loss of words...I don't think I've ever seen a movie this bad. It was extremely corny, everyone in the movie knows karate I guess? And knows how to fire heavy artillery? Lame nude scenes to make up for the bad plot, I could go on and on but a word of advice, DO NOT RENT THIS.

Summary: How much more lame can you get!!
Review: I mean seriously what were they thinking when they made this movie!! Have you ever watched a movie an when it was over just thought, "why did I waste an hour in a half" Well that's exactly how this movie will make you feel. Pathetic story, nothin like the games, not even close. Most games made into a movie somewhat follow the story to the game, this one is far from it. And the cutscenes to the actual gameplay really do not work, really really lame idea by the writers. And how come all of a sudden you hve ordinary teenagers, who become weapon experts! Do not waste your time with this movie!! don't make the mistake I did of wasting an hour to two hours of your time!

Summary: 3 and a Half Stars-Good for Fans of the Game
Review: I was really excited to see the House of the Dead in the theaters. I had been following its progress in the pages of a couple of different gaming magazines since it was announced, and as a huge fan of the original, (and second) arcade games, as well as the Typing of the Dead spin-off for Dreamcast, I was almost sure I'd like the movie.
Well, it came and went from the theaters in a matter of two weeks or so, so I never got a chance to go see it. But now that's it out on DVD, I recently rented a opy, and got more or less exactly what I expected, and didn't anything by not seeing it on the big screen.
Many reviews of the movie I've read online have been unbelievably hard on the movie. Some of what those reviews said are true. The editors of the movie did insert little bits of footage from the game trilogy in the middle of the film, but I personally feel they add to the overall mood of the movie, and put further emphasis on some key parts, as well as offer transitions from one scene to the next. But why someone would pan this movie for using this game footage is a little beyond my understanding for the two following reasons: A.) We're not talking minutes of footage at a time here. The game footage is only seconds long each time you see it, and it couldn't possibly amount to more than one or two minutes of the total movie length, (excluding the opening credits, which use some game footage as a background). B.)it's a movie based on A GAME! The game footage simply adds to that overall atmosphere, and does it quite well.
Now, moving on to the actual movie. I'll start by saying something other reviews have already said countless times: The acting is horrible. Especially in the beginning, it really is quite bad. But, again, this is exactly what I expected renting a B-movie like this one, and I wasn't in the least bit surprised.
But beyond the poor acting is actually a pretty fun movie, blending action elements from movies like Resident Evil and Blade, with some special effects and fight scenes from the Matrix. This isn't a horror movie by any means. It is gory, limbs are hacked off, etc, but it isn't meant to be frightening.
The action scenes were actually really entertaining. The main one towards the middle of the film, when the heroes are seeking shelter in the house, (more of a large shack), was long and a bit repetitive, but very fun to watch. The camera pans around each character as they pose in action, frozen still, and the shows that specific charcater in combat, which reminded me of perhaps switching charcaters in a videogame. The slowmotion, "bullet-time" effects don't add anything to the movie, but didn't take away anything either, and there are two shots in particular I thought were very impressive.
When characters die, the camera shows them standing up again, frozen still, and pans around them as blood drips down the screen, also reminding me of "game over" screens in a number of different games.
And, most importantly, the movie does a remarkable job of capturing what it felt like playing the original arcade game. Sure, the run-down shack of a house isn't anything like the mansion in the first game, but some of the scenes - particularly the underground tunnels in the end of the movie - are almost straight out of the game, and the movie proves this by splicing in footage of the game during these sequences.
So, overall, if you were a fan of Blade or the Resident Evil movie, and can stand some terrible acting, then by all mean,s enjoy this movie. Better still, if you liked the game, check this movie out just for fun, and you might actually enjoy it.
