Summary: Good system for the price
Review: I like all the media types this DVD Changer supported, especially mp3 format. DVD movie is a blast and the remote is easy to use, however it might be small for people with big hand. For mp3 music, you cannot randomize the play list. Also the changer is slow when change discs. Over all, it is a very good system for the price.

Summary: Good Performance, Low intelligence
Review: Toshiba did a decent job of providing a good DAC for their video and digital audio options for excellent sound. However, it lacks the intelligence that I think should be standard for a device like this. For instance, it does not seem to have continuous play (or at least I can't find a way to enable it). When playing CDs, it stops after each disc and you have to manually tell it to play the next one. duh. So, you press the "Skip Disc" button on the remote and it goes to the next disc (somewhat slowly) and then stops again. duh. You then have to press play to get it to go. Repeat the above after each CD. It's smart enough to know that it's a CD and not a DVD, but not smart enough to know that you want it to keep going. The only way I could find around this is to do a Program play and specify each disc. This is a pain to do every time I want to just dump 5 CDs in, press play and have music for ~4 hours. My current CD changer which is 5 years old can do this, why can't the SD2805?

From what I can tell after running it through the ringer for three days, it plays DVDs quite well. However, the purpose of this machine is to be multi-function device and be able to be a CD changer which IMO it fails at. Why else would you have the capability to hold 5 discs and be able to play CDs and MP3s?

Summary: Best Player/Changer for the Money
Review: I opted not to get a progressive scan player, but at the same time I wanted a high quality player without sinking too much [money into one] - the SD 2815 perfectly fits! It sounds great even through my old bookshelf Aiwa stereo and the S-cable connection makes my Sharp 25" TV look like its a Sony.

The only minor drawback is that the 3D sound feature sounds 'tinny', but you need to check it on your own speaker set-up - no worries - the Normal feature works well with DVDs & CDs.

Summary: Great value but lacks
Review: Great DVD player but falls short with mp3 and cd playback and features. Slow to read cd audio and not much options with mp3 menu. If one of your main reasons for buying this player is mp3 go with a panasonic, much better. Pnasonic has no skips when skipping or searching audio.

Summary: Don't Do It!!!
Review: I bought this garabagio last month as a present for my Mom & dad. I read the other reviews saying that there were problems with it, but figured the law of averages would work in my favor, with me getting a good unit.......NOT!!!

The player played once and never again. The disc got "lost" inside the player, over and over again.....no matter what disc we tried.

This type of stuff NEVER happens to me...I always have success with an otherwise bad product...but not this one. Leave it right where you see it....just don't but it.

Now I have to go through sending it back and choosing another!

Summary: Defective
Review: I agree with Erica's review....mine came defective and would not read CD's or DVD's, nor would it display fully. I don't think I would re-order this item. It became quite frustrating trying to make it work. Lucky to get 1 star.

Summary: Defective
Review: I ordered two DVD players for gifts. Unfortunately neither one of them worked right out the box. I would have reservations about ordering another one of the DVD players.

Summary: I Love it (And Hate It)
Review: I love my DVD player! And I hate it!
I love my DVD player with an "E", because it's so easy to set up and get running. Literally took me 10 minutes from box to first view on screen. I must qualify this by saying that I was lucky, I had extra inputs on my TV. If your TV has only one input, or all the ones you have are taken, you may need to do some finagling. But that's not the player's fault.
I hate my DVD player with an "A", because it's addicting. I may never leave the house.

The Toshiba SD2805 is a great deal for the money. Doesn't have tons of features but it DOES have enough to handle all the features of any DVD movie out there, and for a price that will leave you plenty of money to invest in DVDs.

Summary: Dead on Arrival
Review: The package came in a little wet - appeared to be crumpled here and there. The player looked to be in good shape - no visible damages. Waited for a day for the player to reach room temperature (It was freezing when I took delivery from UPS). Plugged the player - got the welcome screen and Toshiba logo on TV. That and the screen saver were the only pictures I got out of this player. The player would not read any disc put in it - tried DVDs, VCDs, CDs - (original and the ones I burnt), MP3 discs.

Incidentally the same thing happened when I bought a Toshioba dual disc player from UBID about 3 years ago! At that time I was told that the reading lens was misaligned on a bunch of units! (but someone at Toshiba decided to ship them anyway!)
Will keep my fingers crossed - I am about to get another one from Amazon.com any time now. Hopefully the next one will work.
In the meantime I am going to retreive my trusted 3 yr old Panasonic A120 from the basement.

PROS:
Good looks
Silent, smooth tray mechanism

CONS:
Apparent poor QC at Toshiba
Remote is not illuminated, small buttons

Summary: Great Player
Review: Stunning video and surprisingly good audio, both dvd and cd.

Used S-video connection and direct input to stereo.

Changer nice for dvd's requiring multiple disks.
Haven't owned it long enough to evaluate durability.

One annoyance is disc selection from remote, but great value for the price.
