Summary: As it happens review
Review: I perused amazon dvd reviews on FRIDAY morning. Friday eveningpurchased my Toshiba dvd player . . . Arrived home at 9:30 pm, andwithin one-half hour my new dvd player was hooked up and playing my one and only dvd movie (Bonnie and Clyde). Absolutely magnificent picture quality on my big screen tv (using the connect to tv directions and s video out cable). Interrupted the movie to listen to my brand new cd (The Doors In Concert). Stopped the cd almost immediately as the tv speakers are just not worthy of the Doors sound, especially when compared to the Martin Logan speakers in my living room. SATURDAY morning my 11 year old son excitedly announced he was able to play a dvd on his first attempt! "Mom it's so easy to use!" I quickly woke up to retrieve what may be an R rated movie and made a mental note to read more about the parental lock that is part of the Toshiba settings. Also, plan on using the connect to audio system and tv connect as soon as I have the time. SUNDAY decided to print amazon EDITORIAL review for my husband to read as I handed him the receipt from my purchase. Will continue review "as it happens". Thus far, I am ecstatic about my new Toshiba SD-4109X dvd player and actually look foward to reading the owner's manual (written in very simplistic terms).

Summary: Missing One Important Feature
Review: I purchased this player because of the 6 disc capacity carousel. I assumed I would be able to load 6 audio discs in and play them in random mode. This is not the case with this unit. You can only play one CD in random mode at a time. After this is completed it will switch to the next disc and play that one in random mode. Very annoying if you want to load in six discs and have an afternoon of continuous music. Also, the carousel is very noisy! Not worth the money, keep looking!

Summary: Good product but....
Review: I really like this thing except I can't play CD-Rs in it. This is a major downfall for all the CDs I have created myself.

I bought this to replace my existing CD player with the added bonus of a DVD player and I haven't had any problems playing normal CDs or DVDs.

Summary: As It Happens Review - FINAL REVIEW
Review: I'm finally done with my connections. My Toshiba CD/DVD is now connected to an Audio System, while the T.V. and VCR remain on the television speaker. I recommend this speaker separation if you like to mute sports on television and play CD's at the same time. I honestly can find nothing wrong with this product. I admit I am still adapting to the control, but only because, I can rarely get it in my hands!

Summary: TOO LIMITED
Review: It does a great job on DVD's and CD's...sound and sight.....HOWEVER it can not play CD's that I have recorded from my other CD's.....where I have just my favorite numbers...so I had to purchase another CD player than has that capability........I wanted to save space......and in that it failed........so its 4 stars for performance......and 1 star for other features that were critical such as space-saver

Summary: Why spend all the money, I'll tell ya...
Review: It doubles as a CD player. If you are putting together a new home theater system you are getting a DVD and a Carousel CD player for less than the price of the individual components.

Review: RE: Toshiba SD-4109X CD/DVD Player. On MONDAY my husband became the proud owner of a brand new CONTROL, and he is doing fine! Personally, I think it somewhat of a pain to possess so many controls, yet it appears to be a status symbol for the 21st Century. About the Toshiba DVD/CD CONTROL, it is awesome for its DVD use, which I now believe to be the main function of this machine. There are about 50 million features on the control (I'm exaggerating). Along with the normal stuff, e.g., reverse, etc., there are some new features: slow motion, zoom, 3-D sound, locating specific frames from a movie (they call them chapters or titles or something), repeating these frames, extracting them into your favorite order, and actually programming up to 28 of these frames and placing them into memory. You become the director at your own movie show! You can even change the angle of a scene. I realize this is difficult to believe, and I certaily wouldn't unless I had seen it (I'm still in awe of the fax machine). A word of caution: DO NOT, under any circumstances, look at page 14 in the Toshiba Owners Manual ( a diagram of the control naming and locating all of the features). If by mistake you do, as did I, squint your eyes and make the page blur into an abstract piece of art (nobody understands abstract art).On TUESDAY I dismantled my stereo amp and Infinity Speakers (he wouldn't let me have the Logans), and placed them near the Toshiba player (but not too close). I'm ready to rewire, maybe tomorrow. For today, I remain ecstatic about my new Toshiba machine and also the proud owner of the Matrix DVD.
