Summary: Poor DVD format
Review: A good work out in theory, but trying to put four different instructors on one DVD means the DVD keeps skipping, you constantly have to pick up the remote to get back to the position you were in.

The positions are okay - but again they concentrate too much on giving you too many modifications rather than really explaining the stretches and breathing. Gets boring after a few times.

Overall this DVD has focused too much on being interactive and giving too many choices - it messes up the format and takes away from the actual yoga.

Summary: excellent basic yoga instruction for all fitness levels!
Review: Although I began the path of yoga with Baron Baptiste's Power Yoga many years ago and love the more active yoga workouts like his and other Ashtanga-type programs, I cannot rave enough about this workout! It is basic, contains all aspects of yoga but inversion (which is for more advanced students anyway), and is the perfect way to start or end your day. The four fitness levels are realistic and demonstrated thoroughly, while the setting in the red rock of Sedona, Arizona is divine. Even those who like more active yoga will benefit from the slower, Iyengar-style of holding poses longer and more deeply...so if you are in great shape and think this workout easy, you're missing the point of yoga. Yoga is a spiritual discipline which coordinates and heals the mind and body (although daily yoga does reshape your physique!)

What I love most about this workout, however, is that it presents on DVD and VHS a complete introduction to yoga that focuses the breathe, quiets the mind, fine tunes the body, and (most importantly) aligns the whole person so that he or she is revitalized and focused, able to accomplish any goals within reach.

For the sedantary or older, this workout is perfect as it begins slowly and offers a complete workout at this level. It is also a great stretch for those with backaches or headaches!

For the overweight or out of shape, this workout puts individuals back in tune with a part of themselves that they've lost track of. This yoga practice WILL help you lose weight, but it is not a magic pill or power yoga...its emphasis is upon returning to health and awareness, and through that it is the best yoga I've found for weight loss yet. You finish this workout stress-free, balanced, and energized...and I can attest to the fact that a yoga lifestyle will shed your excess weight. NO SINGLE workout will do this for you on its own, though.

For the athlectic and fit yoga practitioner, yoga is all about pushing yourself deeper into the pose...and each of these poses are classic standards that are done in ALL yoga programs to some degree. If you know yoga well, there are even some poses that you know you can choose to take further than the instructor, and sometimes I do so.

I recommend this without reservation for all fitness levels!

Summary: Great video
Review: Excellent video with 3 sections to the workout.

Summary: Only good if you are an absolute beginner
Review: I am not experienced in Yoga. Although I work out regularly, I have only attended about 8 yoga classes and I only started about 9 months ago. Therefore, I assumed that I was a beginner. However, I would say that this DVD is only for people who have NEVER been to a yoga class and probably have not exercised much at all. Overall, I found the program pleasant and they did have some good tips and reminders within the workout, however, I did not get a good workout--just a good mid-day stretch.

Summary: great for beginners
Review: I did this tape reluctantly at first, being a total beginner and out of shape. Forunately it is slow and simple, easy for beginners to follow along. The other instructors modify the poses for those who have stiff shoulders, not so good balance or who are not very flexible. It's great for total beginners, nice scenery too.

However, after a few times it didn't challenge me. The last time I did the tape I nearly dozed off, the mellow music and slow relaxing poses made me sleepy.

But if you have never tried yoga and need a slow and easy start this may be the tape for you. The instructors are normal looking women, not intimidating super muscular twenty year olds. I found myself thinking if these women can do it, so can I.

Summary: My Second Yoga Workout!
Review: I have been Jane Fonda's Yoga Workout for the past year or two, but decided I needed a little bit of a change. I saw the DVD for this workout and thought I would give it a try. I must say, I am glad I did. I still do Jane Fonda's Yoga Workout, but do this one also as an added bonus to further improve my fitness.

This is very good yoga workout. I really like the idea of having four different people doing different levels of the same workout. This way, it can be accessible to people of all levels of fitness, flexibility, etc. There is also a feature on it called the Personal Instructor. This is great if one is not sure how to do a position. It was filmed in a very beautiful location in Arizona which makes it that much more relaxing. Suzanne Deason is a great instructor. She has done voice-over which takes you all the way from beginning to end without leaving you hanging wondering what to do next. There is a warm-up period, the workout period that includes a variety of poses, then there is a 14 minute cool-down ending in the Relaxation Pose. Suzanne tells you to stay in Relaxation Pose as long as you like. Really good for reducing stress, etc. I highly recommend this workout for anyone no matter what one's level of fitness may be. Each instructor does great with each level of the workout. There is fully modified for people with that are not flexible. There is 1/2 modified for people with some flexibilty (which I do). There is 1/4 modified for people that are a bit more flexible. Then there is the full pose workout for experienced yoga practitioners.

Summary: Well done practice video. . .
Review: I have been practicing yoga for about one year, and have taken classes at several different studios. This video is a very good home practice tape. Suzanne Deason is a great instructor and the video includes modifications for all fitness levels.

It seems as though some people are missing the point of yoga. The movements are supposed to be slow. It is both a physical and spiritual exercise and should inspire you to have a better appreciation of your body, and to take better care of yourself. Of course, you will not lose weight just from doing this tape, anymore than you would from aerobics if you don't incorporate other lifestyle changes. I use yoga as a vehicle to develop flexibility, strength, toning, and peace of mind. In conjunction with walking several times a week, changing to a more healthy diet, and taking better care of my body overall, I find yoga to be a valid tool for weight loss.

Summary: Ehhhh ok
Review: I wasn't crazy about this video. It is good for beginners, but for someone who has practiced yoga before, it just didn't hit the spot.

It WAS painfully too slow (like another reviewer said) and also even the most advanced yoga person performed modified yoga positions that I felt watered down the yoga quite a bit--I did not get even the stretch that I wanted.

The idea of using different views is nice, but I wouldn't recommend this video to anyone I know.

Summary: Best Way to Ease into Yoga
Review: I'm 22 yrs, 5'4"/145 lbs. and this was my first foray into yoga. While I'm not much thinner, my back pain disappeared and I feel more flexible and energized. Deason is a gentle, calming teacher, the workout is well paced and 45 min. long, in a beautiful outdoor setting w/ great music; 3 additional women practice simultaneously in different modifications of each pose. Great for basics and when combined in a regular routine w/ Pilates, after 15 sessions you'll be ready for a more strenuous level of exercise. Relaxing while envigorating, perfect for the morning or when stressed after a busy day.
