Summary: great for a beginner
Review: I love this tape, i started with the am/pm yoga series , which i don't recommend if you are a beginner. The Yoga Zone video is wonderful. Alan Finger gives concise and clear instructions, taking you slowly through the various poses, encourging you to only do as much as you can. I've used for about a month now and noticed a difference within a week. If you are a beginner this tape is for you.

Summary: Easy to follow, very well-done
Review: I purchased this video as the first in a set of 4 by Yoga Zone, led by yoga master Alan Finger. After 4 months of use, I'd say this video and the others in the set are an excellent choice for those new to yoga. Instructor Alan Finger's pleasant voice gives clear, encouraging, and careful direction from move to move, and the three yoga practioners with him perform at different flexibility levels, so you won't feel intimidated by advanced pretzel maneuvers. The production quality is first rate, and the accompanying music is pleasant and unobtrusive. I'm grateful for such a positive first yoga experience, and I highly recommend this video and the other 3 Yoga Zone videos in the set. Enjoy!

Summary: Excellent for the beginning yoga enthusiast
Review: I took a yoga class many years ago. I still remember how delightfully flexible I was and how peaceful I felt. Now a working mother with all the challenges and stresses we all feel from day to day, I yearned to recapture that feeling.

Though I walk on a treadmill for 30-45 minutes every day, I knew that my muscles weren't what they were in my twenties so I thought it best to start with a beginning video. I am happy with my decision to do so.

This video is an excellent starting point for someone beginning yoga, or someone like me who yearned to return to it. The instructor's voice is soothing and guides you through each posture coaching the location and tension of each muscle through entire postures - a very important key to yoga.

Though the video is 55 minutes long, it most definitely doesn't feel so long. There were no tedious moments. My mind didn't wander from what I was doing to the inevitable stresses of work and daily life - your mind and body really do become one. At the end of the session there is a calming relaxation portion - the hallmark of any good yoga program.

One more thing I liked about this video - there were four individuals doing poses at alternating levels. If you are still not as flexible as you would like to be, you can follow the lesser version of the posture demonstrated by one person on the screen. As you attain greater flexibility you can pose with the member demonstrating the most complex version of the pose. In short, you can individualize this yoga session to suit your own fitness level.

I highly recommend this video for all of the reasons stated above. You can learn and grow with it and attain tighter muscles and a more peaceful mind.

Summary: What a waste!
Review: I'm glad this isn't the first yoga video I bought, because I would have never kept going with it! This video is excrutiatingly boring, the instructor sounds like he's floating among the treetops, the participants look like zombies, the music is mundane, and to top it all off, it's way too long! The first and only time I used this tape, it put my 18-month old son to sleep! If you don't like to waste time or money and are looking for effective yoga videos, I highly recommend "Crunch: The Joy of Yoga" and Karen Voight's "Yogasculpt".

Summary: Excellent
Review: I've been looking for some time for videos/books to learn yoga. I wish I had found this video and the yoga zone set for beginners earlier. It would have saved me a lot of money and frustration. I recommend this!

Summary: Low-key.
Review: If you are looking for the most basic yoga video possible, you will like this. I on the other hand can't imagine watching it for a second time, a full hour, because it moves so slow and I'm sure I'd fall asleep from boredom. The music is so low, it's practically inaudible. The demonstrators hardly ever crack a smile. If your looking to get energized and pumped up to learn yoga, this is not the way to go. But if you just want a no-nonsense, very low-key type video, you can handle this.

Summary: I'm hooked on Yoga Zone!
Review: This is my second Yoga Zone tape. I like Yoga Zone over any other yoga tapes because they aren't too fast or too challenging for beginners. I also like that different skill levels are shown so I can modify poses. Other yoga tapes I have only show one way of doing things, so I feel inadequate or like I'm doing something wrong. On Yoga Zone tapes and their show, they constantly stress that going at your own pace and that not overdoing things is key. I look forward to buying the rest of the Yoga Zone tapes.

Summary: Good Starter Tape
Review: This is the first yoga video I have purchased and it won't be the last. This is an excellent video for anyone who is just starting out with yoga and it is easy to follow even the first time through. Alan Finger is very soothing and relaxing as he tells you not to push further than you can go. Yoga isn't just for human pretzels anymore! Even performing modified poses gives a good workout for both mind and body. I worked up a sweat and then had the best night's sleep in a long time. I highly recommend this video to anyone!

Summary: excellent foundation
Review: This tape was an excellent foundation for learning yoga. I did this tape to learn the basics and found it extremely helpful when I started the other tapes by yoga zone. It's simple enough for even the most out of shape beginners and effective enough for everyone to feel like the had a nice relaxing workout. Leaves your muscles worked and your whole body rejuvinated. It's a great tape to start your Yoga collection with. The other beginner tapes are also easy to follow but with this one under your belt you'll feel well prepared.
