Summary: Great Workout, at home
Review: If you are the type of person that enjoys feeling great after a workout, but hate going to the gym- or attending crowded classes, then this is a good purchase for you. I feel stronger and leaner afterwards.

Review: Challenging and great form techniques.

Summary: This is a top-notch pilates workout
Review: I agree with the other reviewers that this a a good quality pilates video for beginners. Ana Caban is an excellent instructor, providing good cuing and proper form. I also like the fact that there is a second person demonstrating a modified version of each of the exercises---which is great for those of us still developing our strength and flexibility. I think it is is important to point out, though, that pilates doesn't take the place of a cardio workout. It is a great compliment to your cardio and strength-training programs. I think it is inaccurate for anyone to say that pilates can substitute for aerobics or other cardio activities.

Summary: this workout is great
Review: I love doing this tape! I usually hate working out but I look forword to doing this everyday. The actual workout is only 20 minutes so its not so much that it wears you out, but enough to give you that worked out stomach feeling. I was surprised that I could do all of the chin to chest exercises without hurting my neck like I do when I do sit-ups. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to work their abs but hates doing hundreds of boring sit ups.

I picked this on up and before i even opened i read some of the ratings on this video and decided well i bought it so i will try it and i loved it. for those of you who didn't enjoy it you need to open your ears and listen to what ana is telling you to do to be effective she concentrated on certain parts of the body and was right on

Summary: Flattened my stomach and lifted my "buns"
Review: I have been using this tape for about two months, and I am very pleased with the results. My stomach is flatter, my "buns" are way higher, and my legs look tighter. The instructor is excellent, and the tape is FUN FUN FUN...

Is it just me or did anyone else notice that many of the one star negative reviews sound as if they were written by the same person?? They slam this tape and then they recommend other pilates tapes instead of this one. Well, I'm not a girl who's into conspiracy theories but this makes me wonder....LOL

Don't believe the nasty reviews. This tape will give you great results in a very safe manner.

Summary: Let's get honest about Ana and Living Arts Pilates tapes.
Review: I am a certified fitness instructor, a nurse and a former dancer. I read Brooke Siler and Mari Winsor's books before purchasing any Pilates videos. I purchased Ana Caban's Beginning Matwork because it was purported to be just that-- beginners' matwork. It is what it says it is. The quality of the video is not the best, and Ana sometimes makes silly comments (the "perky buns" thing is pretty uncalled for). Still, I believe that the tape is a good intro to Pilates, safe and motivating. I've mastered the Intermediate, the Dynabands and the Fitness Ring (my personal favorite), and the difference in my body proves the value of this tape. I'm appalled at the Jennifer Kries ads disguised as reviews of the Living Arts videos. And I'd really like to know exactly what these supposed medical professionals find unsafe about the instruction. I, too, am a medical professional and very experienced in fitness, so I'm qualified to question those naysayers. Thanks for listening.

Summary: Fantastic Results
Review: This was the first pilates tape I bought, and it is still my favorite. Ana Caban is a great instructor. She really emphasizes form and her cuing is excellent.

It includes the following exercises: hundred, roll-up, leg circles, rolling like a ball, single and double leg stretch, open leg rocker, corkscrew, saw, side kicks, teaser, and the seal.

Ana demonstrates the actual exercises and another instructor demonstrates a modified version for those that are just starting out. I initially followed the modified version and was amazed at how quickly my body gained strength and tone. Another benefit that I've had since strating Pilates is that I no longer have any back pain at all. I am very happy with the results I've had using this tape and I highly recommend it.

I bought several other pilates tapes, but I always went back to this one because it is the most fun to do, and most importantly the instruction is top rate. I have since graduated to the intermediate version, but I am very fond of this tape because it hooked me on Pilates.

Summary: I love Pilates
Review: This was my first intro to Pilates and I'm hooked. I tell everyone who will listen that it is a good way to tone abs and shape your body which is so important as we age. It should be used as a supplement to cardio workouts, especially if you need to lose weight.

I have this one and the intermediate. Both are excellent. I particularly love the length of the workout, about 25 minutes and the instructor. Ana Caban is great. She is helpful and friendly without being too chatty like some of the others. I highly recommend both tapes.

Summary: Not impressed
Review: Agree with other reviewers - instructor is much more concerned about her appearance on the video than showing proper technique. I bought this because I thought it would be a good "beginner video" and emphasize the correct postures. The tape is too choppy and hard to get a good look at correct movements. Am now looking for another video.
