Summary: Tedious
Review: Laden with new-age comments like "feel the heat rising from your belly", this video has that quality typical in Living Arts productions--ultra-peaceful voice-overs and music that wear on me with their above-it-all tones and plodding pacing. And, of course, there's the prerequisite desert setting that's pretty but overused. True beginners who have a preference for new age moods will find this more enjoyable than I did.

Summary: Got Past DVD Problem
Review: I really like this workout. It makes you feel like you've had a good workout (muscles are sore the next day), but there's no impact and you don't feel totally exhausted afterwards, but totally relaxed. My version of the DVD also froze up about 23 minutes into the work out, but I found that if I stopped it, backed up, and fast forwarded over the part where the glitch occurred, I didn't have any further problems (still kind of a pain). Overall though, I like the workout enough to put up with it.

Summary: It's alright, nothing to rave about
Review: The various levels of performance make this video one which is suitable for a wide range of flexibility. I enjoyed the beautiful Arizona surroundings. However, I felt that this tape moved very slowly. While a gentle yoga workout is my preference, I agree with the other reviewers who stated the words "for weight loss" seem to be present only for the purpose of eliciting sales. I did not hear any information substantiating the "conditioning for weight loss" that the title professes.

Summary: DVD doesn't work
Review: Please be warned - this DVD did not work on my DVD player or other players of the same make. Which is a shame really because it looks like a good workout...

Summary: painstakingly slow [and boring]
Review: i have only been going to yoga class for a couple of months, so when i decided to buy a yoga tape to practice at home i thought i should get a beginners tape. unfortunately this video is not what i was looking for.

the set and music are nice, and the multi-angle feature is fantastic. the actual routine however, was disappointing. i didn't even break a sweat! it's excruciatingly gentle and much too short. i kept waiting for the pace to pick up or for the poses to get harder, but it never happened.

i am not in the greatest of shapes myself and have just recently started to excercise regularly and still after finishing the routine i was ready for more. i think this video might be good for people who are overweight, much older, or who have NEVER exercised at all. otherwise, it's just a really long warm-up.

Summary: Defective
Review: I really like this DVD, the workout was great for the morning... BUT I never saw the end of it. TWO copies were defective, they played to about the middle of the workout, and then skipped forever, froze the computer and crashed the system. I tried 5 different DVD player programs and never got it to work. FYI I was trying to run it on a Dell 3800. Eventually, I gave up and returned both copies

Summary: Great tape for beginners
Review: This is an excellent tape! I am a beginner in every sense of the word. What I like most about this tape is that Ms. Deason uses 4 different instructors to demonstrate modified poses. She doesn't make me feel like I am wasting my time because I can't fully complete a pose. I also like the fact that she is not very new-agey. Her instructions are easy to understand and follow. Unlike the 20-minute, beginner tapes I have seen, I don't feel rushed or inadequate.

Summary: Change the title
Review: This is a great DVD - and I must admit that I was originally attracted by the words "Weight Loss" in the title. However, after owning it for 4 months and trying to do the sequence at least twice a week, I don't think that this workout on its own will promote weight loss. That's not to say that it wouldn't help someone as part of a balanced exercise and diet lifestyle. I just think that by having the words "weight loss" in the title means that the DVD might not appeal to those who don't want to lose weight, but just want to do a good yoga routine.

The DVD is a really good introduction to yoga. I especially like the fact that there are 4 different instructors leading the routines, which progress from a basic beginner's sequence up to Suzanne Deason herself leading a fairly advanced routine. It's good to be able to progress without having to buy more DVDs.

Suzanne is a good teacher - and she really explains the moves well. I've haven't gotten bored yet - there's enough variety in the routine. The features of the DVD are great - skipping from one section to another, changing the angle to follow a different leader, etc.

There are 3 parts to the routine - the first emphasises breathing and is good to do first thing in the morning. The "Active Conditioning" segment is also good - none of the poses are really challenging in themselves, but the length of time they are held for provides a good stretch. The cool down section is also good - I often do it separately at night.

I would definitely recommend this DVD.

Summary: It could be better
Review: I really enjoyed this DVD.It made me sweat when I reached to the full workout however I wish they include more variations of actual yoga movements. Or I expected more levels of difficulties. But it did help me to gain flexibility and strength back after 15 years of non active life since I quit ballet.

Summary: This workout video ...not... for non-beginners!
Review: I have been doing yoga for a few months now at a yoga center. I wanted to be able to practice yoga at home as well, so I bought this video. It was a horrible workout that had little variety in terms of yoga movements. If you are interested in getting a varied workout that will allow you to break a sweat, this video is not it.
