Summary: Improve your posture and lose that tummy!
Review: After having a baby I tried aerobics and weight training but just couldn't lose that stubborn fat around my mid section, within a few weeks of using breaktrough core conditioning pilates I noticed that I was losing my tummy, and as a bonus my posture was improving. I also had less lower back pain from the improved posture. I gave my tape to a friend and am ordering a replacement copy for myself. This is a great tape for someone who is able to do an aerobic workout, but if you are looking for something hardcore, this isn't the tape.

Summary: Clear and focused Pilates workout
Review: Good workout - Michelle and Tracy give good instructions and keep things moving at a good pace. The workout is all done on the floor - no standing work. Since the total tape is only about 30 minutes long, I often tack it onto the end of my workout and find that it also helps me to unwind, center, and relax. This tape is not very difficult, but it does provide a good workout even for an intermediate.

Summary: CHALLENGING & GREAT WORKOUT
Review: I bought this about three weeks ago and have been practicing it three times a week. I love it!!! This is the first time I do Pilates. I would say that you need a strong abs to do the exercise but nothing that you can't build on over time. I started to lift light weight for four months already and happy to say that I could actually do the push-up exercise even though it's still challenging.

The only thing I wish they explain more is the breathing during the exercise. As a beginner, I tend to get confused on when to exhale or inhale. I would definitely look for more dvd series from these two people.

Summary: Definitely Non-intimidating Pilates Workout
Review: I discovered pilates not long ago and was impressed by Michelle Dozois who was the instructor in "Pilates for Dummies". When I saw that she was one of the instructors in this new DVD I ordered it without hesitation. I was not disappointed. The poses are simple but effective, and definitely non-intimidating. The instructions are clear. The pace is just right. You don't have to be a super-fit person to do these exercises.

Summary: My Least Favorite Pilates Video
Review: I have been practicing Pilates for two years and own eight Pilates videos. What I have enjoyed the most about Pilates is the serenity and fluidity that goes along with the teachings. If you have never tried Pilates you may like this tape however, if you have been accustomed to the quiet teachings and svelte instructors this video may not be to your liking. In my opinion this video lacks fluidity and concentration which are essential components in Pilates. Although the instructos do offer several movements I have never done I was afraid to bulk up like the instructors so I figured it was best for me to stay with my tried and true Pilates teachings.

Summary: Another winner by these instructors
Review: I love this series. Non-intimidating instruction with several modifications for those less flexible/strong. This is a great tape to start after Michelle's Pilates for Dummies. Its not too long and gives you just enough for the nice burn in your core. A winner.

Summary: Great workout for advanced pilates students
Review: I watched this video only one time, and decided it was too advanced for me. After I become more flexible and strong, I will go back to this tape and try it. I would not recommend it to someone who is a beginner to pilates. The moves at the end of the tape in particular are just too difficult, but Michelle Dozois and Tracy York are a great pair of instructors!

Summary: My 1st Pilates Tape: A Good Introduction...
Review: I've flipped through pages of The Pilates Body book & before buying this video, I've never taken a Pilates class. So given my limited exposure to Pilates (& 3 years of practicing Yoga) I bought this video & tried it out.

Together, two instructors each demonstrate pilates motions in two separate parts. They clearly offer how to safely accomplish the moves at their level & some at reduced fitness levels (such as the sit ups using your thighs if you need to). Out of all the moves in the routine of this tape, there was only one that I couldn't do which involved a push-up type position & taking one or two extremities off the workmat (yikes!). However with some strength & concentration (& practice) that move isn't unachievable - just like all the other moves are not at all unrealistic.

Otherwise, I found the routines they offered were sincerely fun (yes, fun!) & you only need a good mat & a towel for this tape!
