Rating: Summary: Great For Getting Back INTO Shape too! Review: You don't have to already be 'IN' shape to enjoy the benfits of this DVD. I have not exercised regularly for years, though I still retain quite a bit of flexibility. I just (20 minutes ago, actually) completed the Metabolic Booster Section (without weights, thank you very much!! *grin*) with little trouble. I was a tad clumsy, and my balance is not so great anymore, but I finished, mildly out of breath, a sheen of sweat, and feeling loose and fantastic! I couldn't believe the 20 minutes was over already! When I got up to walk around I felt a little... like jello, but that's a good sign to me, it means my muscles really felt it. I need a little more stretching when I am done than she gives you, but then, I didn't do the DVD from start to finish either. Maybe in a couple of weeks...
Rating: Summary: Lousy quality Review: This has very little to do with Pilates and the quality really [is bad]. It was a real disappointment. The best DVD I have seen was Pilates for Dummies...
Rating: Summary: Mac DVD player users beware Review: The DVD totally freezes up my Mac so I haven't been able to view it. Sending it to a friend and using Ana Caban's DVD instead (which works fine).
Rating: Summary: Excellent, if you learn to breathe correctly Review: I purchased this DVD to increase my flexibility and tone my body, especially my abs. That is exactly what this video offers; HOWEVER, you must learn to breathe as Jennifer demonstrates at the beginning of the Core Conditioning (1st section). If you pay attention to your breathing and concentrate on your abs during the Metabolic Booster (2nd section), you will finish dripping in sweat when using 5 lb weights. If you don't 'feel it' when Jennifer mentions a particular body part, adjust until you do. I usually get bored after a week or two of most fitness videos. But, this video was different for me. I purchased this over seven months ago and still enjoy alternating it with running.
Rating: Summary: Nothing new... Review: J. Kries and the Method fans, everything you see in the New Method Series (all 3 tapes) are in other Method tapes already. Kries just mixed some movements from other tapes like Dance to Fitness, All in One Workout...etc. and titled them as "NEW METHODS". They are not new at all in movements or anything, but just how she recycled and mixed them.
Rating: Summary: good core conditioning and stretching Review: This is my first try for Pilates. This dvd (or tape) is divided in 3 categories. First one is the core (abs) part. Very effective. I like it a lot. My abs were burning. I will do this part everyday. The second is the "metabolic booster". You need some dumbells to execute it. Well this part is ok to follow but I did't sweat as much as I expected. Maybe I should have heavier dumbells. I guess it is ok in the morning when you don't have too much time, just before going to work. But the stretches are very good. The last part is "am/pm rejuvenation" it is a soft mix of pilates and yoga: good for relaxing and stretching at the same time. I do it at night. To sum up: good core conditioning and stretching DVD. If you want to sweat a lot, buy another dvd.
Rating: Summary: Perfect Method Review: As usual Jennifer does a terrific job! Yes it takes a few tries to get the moves down, but with patience it really does come easily. It is not fast-paced, but if you are looking for a good workout that combines cardio and strength training without collapsing a lung, this is it! Your body will move in non-traditional ways, which is a great change from jumping up and down aerobics. You use more muscles, different muscles with this style of exercise. When I started working out, I started with the method because it was different, not annoying but still challenging. Now that I workout regularly (cardio weight training, etc..) I still try to use one tape a week of the method to keep my flexibility and agility. Give it a try, it may be the key to keep you on the fitness track!
Rating: Summary: Average Review: I was somewhat disappointed with this dvd. The dvd is not visually appealing and this seems to have a negative impact on the overall workout. It feels as though I am watching a videotape from the early 80s, rather than a dvd purchased in 2001. If you can get beyond the poor visuals, the workout is good. For an overall much better workout I highly recommend the New York City Ballet Workout or the Power Yoga Complete Workout with Rodney Yee.
Rating: Summary: From a Pilates beginner Review: I have tried numerous other exercise videos through the years and none have EVER kept my interest. I cannot say enough about this wonderful video. I find myself truly looking forward to doing the video, and even after weeks of using it, I am still constantly challenged by it. I never enjoyed exercising, but I tried through the years because of the obvious benefits. I truly enjoy exercising now because of this video. I lost 20 pounds a year and half ago, and had kept off every pound, without lifting one finger towards exercising. After losing weight without exercising, I was not going to be an advocate of exercise! This video has changed everything. I love Jennifer Kries's style, the music, the moves. It is a very challenging exercise which actually only gets more challenging as your body gets stronger and you start doing the moves the "right" way. I would recommend this video to anyone. I went from never exercising to doing this video or my treadmill 5 times a week! A change for the better - and a change for life! Thanks to Jennifer Kries!
Rating: Summary: Perfect Mix? You betcha! Review: This is the most awesome and effective workout. After 2 or 3 sessions, you can tell the change in your body start to kick in. I noticed and felt the toning and tightening of my abs, buns, legs and arms.I started to feel good, more energize and has better posture. Jennifer delivers clear instructions and very professional. I have become one of her biggest fan and started collecting her videos.I love all of them but this DVD is definitely my favorite. I alternate this workout with yoga from the yogazone videos or the bellydance workout. This DVD is worth your money so go for it!
