Summary: Great for any fitness level
Review: I really wanted to buy a kickboxing video that would not be too complicated. As a user of other Kathy Smith videos, I decided to purchased this one. The moves are fairly simple and you can get a good workout. Unlike a lot of Kathy's other videos, there are no modifications for lower or higher intensity, but since it is not a standard floor aerobics video, it really isn't necessary to do so. If you are looking for something different to add to your routine, this is a good choice.

Summary: First time kickboxer
Review: I bought this DVD to add an aerobic (sp?) component to my daily workout. I have only been doing for two week and I have already notice the difference in my waist line.

Summary: A kickbutt workout!
Review: This video is really fun and pretty easy to do. You probably won't get everything the first time, but after a few tries you'll have everything down. I don't have any experience with kickboxing but the moves were not hard to pick up. It made me sore even though I didn't expect it to, and it's definitely very aerobic.

Summary: So much better than Tae Bo!
Review: This kickboxing workout is wonderful! It is very fast-paced, but yet it is easy to learn if you are new to kickboxing. It is really the type that you can do at your own pace. I have done Tae Bo before, and although it was a good workout, I found Billy Blanks EXTREMELY annoying. I hated the way he "preached" throughout the entire workout. This video is much more of what I am used to in an exercise video. It is well worth the money, especially since the DVD version that I have comes with a 45 minute version and a 60 minute version (I don't know if the VHS tape comes with both versions). This is great to switch up your workouts. This workout is very similar to TaeBo and I would recommed it highly to anyone who likes that type of workout. It is also good for people who like Kathy Smith and want to try a new workout.

Summary: NOT for Kickboxing Newbies!
Review: I bought this video because of the great reviews it got here on Amazon. I sat down to preview the tape before even starting it, and I ended up shutting it off. Smith does not give you intense training on the moves - though Billy Blanks does in his instructional video. I don't think I could have done half of the things she even did in her warmup, because she didn't tell us what position we should be in, or even how to go about learning the moves. If I couldn't even follow her during the warmup, imagine how the rest of the video fared! This may be good for someone with kickboxing experience, but for the kickboxing newbie this is not the video for you.

Summary: Another great workout
Review: I've been doing Kathy Smith's tapes for a while now and really like her style. She's energetic without being too perky. This tape is quite fun, once you get the hang of it. A good stress reducer. Although Keith Cooke participates and offers advice on form, sometimes through split screen graphics, Smith is leading the exercises for most of the tape. The tape is rated for beginners, but the routine demands flexibility and stamina, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who is really out of shape or brand new to exercise. Better to start with Smith's Peak Fat Burning and various toning tapes. It is appropriate for people who've never done any kickboxing, however. It gives you the basics, within the context of lightly choreographed aerobics. (If you're looking to be an extra in a Jet Li movie, go elsewhere.) Smith and Cooke do a nice job of breaking down the kicks and boxing moves and explaining how each works. The cueing is a little late at times, but not too bad. The music is better than average.

Summary: As compared to what is out there ....
Review: I have been searching for a good kickboxing video for a while now. I have some Tae Bo tapes but I get extremely annoyed with Blanks' lack of coordination, I have to do my own counting in order not to bulk up one side more than the other, and the music stinks! The first few times I did this tape I did not like it too much. But after struggling with inadequacies of my Tae Bo tapes, I really appeciate Kathy's accurate queing. The music is very appropriate and invigorationg, and she does not talk too much ( which is great! ). Right now I would say that I am at an intermediate level, and I am sweating bullets at the end of the tape. The extra abs routine at the end is useless. But overall, compared to all the other tapes out there this one is worth purchasing.

Summary: Great workout
Review: Kathy Smith does not pretend to be a kickboxing expert. She is an icon of the fitness industry and with that in mind, this is an excellent video. There have been complaints about her form and that it's too much jumping around, but this is supposed to be an aerobic take on kickboxing, not a how-to. I always get quite a workout from this video and I have been doing tapes for 8 years and am in good condition. You may not be able to do the video flawlessly at first (it doesn't help that some cues are late and some misguided), but being able to DO a tape SHOULD be a challenge. It's a waste of money if you can do it the first time. This tape is upbeat and fun (I do wish she had used Keith Cook more and worn shorts so we could see what she was doing more easily!) This is a staple in video workouts.

Summary: Kathy Smith oughta hang up her boxing gloves
Review: I do not recommend this video. I have a lot of kickboxing experience behind me, and even I was confused by this one. Although the workout is pretty good cardio for a beginner, the production is awful. Kathy speeds through the moves and doesn't tell you what she is doing until after she is already doing it. And then a few times she even screws up (maybe the cue card man screwed up) and tells you something differently from what she is actually doing.
Form is very important in kickboxing. That is why I am amazed that Kathy was allowed to film this video with such atrocious form. Don't watch her, unless you are looking for an injury!! And then Keith was no help, since he doesn't even go through the proper form until after the first half of the sequence is through. What good is that.

Besides all of this, Kathy is extremely annoying throughout this video with her three word vocabulary, aimlessly jumping around. . . and what's with that hair-do?

Keep you guard up with this video (oh, something else they failed to tell you to do?!).

Summary: Kickboxing is not for me
Review: I don't enjoy kickboxing...however, this is a good cardiovascular workout and I am certain it burns many calories...
