Summary: Excellent Workout, Cuing Not Great
Review: Three years I've had this workout...and just until I spent the last three months doing Kathy Smith's Power Step Workout have I been able to complete her "Fat Burning Breakthrough" without losing pace or without injuring myself.

The levels, cardio, weightlifting, and "100 Sit-Up Section" are all excellent. You will see results. You will work your heart and lungs and legs and arms and abs.

What is not so good is the cuing. I believe she is going on the premise that you should know what you are doing with a step workout. However, once you have completed the tape several times, you know what's coming up and can move through all her sets on the tape pretty seamlessly without stopping or saying "huh?" "You want me to do what?"

If you are new to step or a novice, purchase her "Power Step" and master it for several months until you are used to a step, and the cardio it brings. Then, move on to "Fat Burning." She uses some of the same moves in Fat Burning as she does in "Power Step" but at a higher intensity.

With these two tapes, I've knocked off about six inches off my thighs, bottom and hips.

Summary: Kathy Smith's Fat Burning Breakthrough
Review: I love this workout! The first time I did it I was pouring sweat, I thought I was going to pass out. I work out a few times a week at the gym but when I can't make the gym, I work out at home. I like it cause you get a good workout and it goes by fast. You work up to the levels. I've used it five times and I feel great each time I use it.

Summary: Excellent Workout !
Review: I used to attend advanced step classes regularly at a gym until I moved to a remote area. I found this workout to be one of the best that I have bought online. Kathy Smith's Fat Burning Breakthrough has three segments of step aerobics consisting of eighteen minutes each with strength training sessions in between. The step segments are well choreographed with good upbeat music, and one of the four demonstrators performs the entire workout without a step. The moves are simple enough for beginners, yet slightly more complex for the advanced person.
I do it at least three times a week and never get bored. My heart rate also picks up nicely to the cardio zone. The strength training sections with the weights are also adequate for a complete body workout. Overall, this is one of the best step-aerobics/circuit training tapes that I have bought.

Summary: Very good, challenging workout
Review: This was a fairly challenging workout. She does move fairly quickly through the steps, but I didn't find it hard to follow. However, I do have Kathy Smith's Power Step workout, and many of the moves are taken from there. The Power Step workout moves more slowly, so if you learn that one first, this one is pretty easy to follow.

I didn't really like the weight lifting segments. They aren't long enough to actually build any muscle mass or tone, and they cause your heart rate to drop right in the middle of the workout. The aerobic part is great, though.

Summary: Don't run before you can walk!
Review: I have been running regularly for the past 6 months, so with winter here, I thought I could use a good cardio workout. I already own ULTIMATE PILATES and LIFT WEIGHTS TO LOSE WEIGHT 2 from Kathy Smith, and I truely enjoy them. As for FAT BURNING BREAKTHROUGH, my mistake was not reading all the reviews before purchasing it.

I agree with customers who said the step routine was very complicated. I have tried it many times, and still miss quite a few steps. There comes a point where I just can't follow anymore, and my heart rate goes down. The camera angles make it difficult sometimes to see the leg work, and those who don't have a step at home will not always see the lady on the right of their screen who is the only one without a step.

I do like the weight lifting and ab section though, which I combine with other workouts or pop in after a run.

I would love to find a good and relatively simple cardio workout either from Kathy Smith or another fitness expert. Any suggestions?
