Summary: Awful....
Review: I purchased this dvd nearly a year ago and have done the workouts only twice. Actually, I couldn't keep up with the workouts, neither the first nor the second. Cueing is bad, too many dancey moves, I felt I was going to injure my knees (and I don't have problems with my knees!). I quit. This was the first time I viewed it. A few months went by and thought I'd give the dvd another try. My first impression was right, it was awful & I couldn't do it. If you're looking for a GOOD step workout, try Kathy's Smith's Step Workout from 1992. It's a sweatin' workout without complicated moves. I only wish it was released on dvd rather than this piece of garbage.

Summary: First half Very Good.....Second Half Not so Good
Review: I purchased this video along with some Yoga Zone videos, just for variety of workout after having a baby. The first half of this video is very fun and upbeat the drums add an extra to the workout. The steps are explained for you before you start doing the repetitions which is very helpful for a first timer or somebody trying to get back into the swing of things. The second half on the otherhand was a huge dissapoint. The instructors voice is very annyoing and the movements are very choppy at the least. I don't think I will ever do the second half of the video which is a waste. If the second half was as good as the first this would definitely get a 4 star rating, but it fell far short.

Summary: Worth the Money
Review: I really like this DVD. It's nice that there's two separate workouts on it so you can mix and match with other half hour workouts if you want. Like the other reviewers I like Kendall's segment better, mostly because of his great energy and the more interesting setting and background. I agree though that the last pattern starts to lower the heart rate unless you add your own intensity into the mix. The other segment has some more challenging choreography, which I enjoy. If you are just looking to workout and don't want dance-like moves, don't buy this. I like the dance style because it makes me think more about the choreography and forget I'm getting a workout in the meantime. If the 2nd segment was a little more jazzed up and exciting I'd give it 5 stars.

Summary: Brilliant
Review: I think this dvd is excellent. It is a varied workout, very complicated at first but gets easier with practice and I feel this makes the "exercise" aspect of it great fun. If the steps are easy and repetitive it gets boring very quickly, which this certainly isn't. And if you master one workout, there's always another one so you'll never be bored. I absolutely love it, although I still go to my regular gym. As I have a 10-month-old baby and can't get there very often, I am thrilled with this. I recommend this.

Summary: Not for the weakhearted
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this DVD, at least the first segment of it. I have up until now, not been a big fan of step aerobics but Kendall has certainly changed my perspective on that. I love it. While some viewers complain about the ad at the beginning, it's just like any other video and you get previews of other movies. I use it as an opportunity to stretch. I must admit that it did take me a bit to get the moves down pat but now that I've got them this is sooooooo much fun! I look forward to going home each day and putting on my workout clothes and doing the workout. This DVD is a great supplement to weight training. In a word AWESOME!I had to give it four stars because the second segment of the video bites. I just hope Kendall does some more step aerobic dvds. I also use the Quick Fix Total Body Mix workout to break up the monotony.

Summary: FAT BLASTER is GREAT.... STEP&SWEAT not so good.
Review: I used to be a member of a gym where Kendall, the instructor for the Fat Blaster segment, worked. He was always motivating, nice to people but really not a good live instructor. He tended to do the same moves over and over and to put together routines that had tricky segways to the next move. Well I have to give him high marks for this DVD because it's energetic and fun. I think he has found his calling and there are only a couple of times where he works one side more than the other. Not enough to get worked up about. It's short, 22 minutes not counting the warmup and cool down. Towards the end he does a sort of latin routine which is not very good a maintaining a high cardio level. In effect you start to cool down before the cool down. In order to keep my heart rate up where I want it prior to the cool down I just put in some of my own moves. I would give this DVD 4 stars if he was the only one but the other one...

The Step&Sweat DVD is a disaster. I think most of the moves are too silly to be of value especially those just starting out. Not enough cueing and not fun. I give it 2 stars. The instructor seems nice enough but if you don't want to trip over your own feet stick with Kendall.

Summary: Burned more calories in my sleep--but perfect for beginners
Review: I'm a pretty advanced stepper (I have an extensive dance background and the step classes at my gym are now all too easy for me), so I was pleased to see the reviews stating that this was a challenging workout. Bo-ring! I didn't break a sweat at all and my heart rate didn't change one whit, even though I tried adding my own mods to make it harder. I have a busy schedule and don't always have time to get to the gym, so video workouts are a good solution for me. When will *someone* come out with a series of videos for people with advanced fitness levels?!?!?! This video is a huge waste of money unless you're a beginner. Then it's really the right thing for you because the instructions are very clearly laid out and the instructors and atmosphere are very positive and upbeat.

Summary: good complexity
Review: I've been doing step at my health club for a while and have been disappointed in the level of most step videos, just too boring. This is a good one, with enough going on to keep you going. But, I hate the fact that you have to fastforward through the ad beginning of the video.
