Summary: Simply Wonderful
Review: After trying other "level 1-beginner" yoga tapes, I was hesitant to try another. This routine is so relaxing and gentle. I didn't have to contort my body into circ du soleil (?) positions! It is a perfect addition to the pain management program I am in for myofacial pain syndrom, fibromyalgia and TMJ disorders that have been radiating into my neck and back. I felt so relieved after using this program. I would definitely recommend this and others by these particular instructors.

Summary: Wonderful tool
Review: I bought this DVD after having sprained my back last year. I had then to stop my usual workout for a while. I've used it many times since then... every time I feel tensed or my back or joints ache, especially after a tense day at the office.
A very simple, slow, soothing, relaxing 30-mins DVD that shows many postures, from head to toe, to help one heal from chronic pain. This DVD shows modified classic yoga postures. And I regularly choose a specific posture among them, when I want to stretch a particular body part during the day or before I go to bed or when I wake up. The instructors are perfect, smooth, professional and quite skilled (looked their background on the net).
A truly good program for those of us who live a stressful and often painful life! Enjoy!

Summary: Good for those with chronic pain
Review: I was recently diagnosed with mild scoliosis, and I've been searching for a yoga DVD that could help relieve my chronic back pain. I've tried several different DVDs, and was pleasantly surprised by Healing Yoga for Aches and Pains. This program is both gentle and effective, and is well suited for those with mild or moderate pain (particularly neck, back, and shoulder). The postures are simple, but in combination with the breathing exercises, they greatly reduced my lower back pain. The instructors are very conscious of the fact that most viewers will need to go slowly, and frequently encourage you to go at your own pace. For those with previous yoga experience, this program may not be challenging enough; however, I found that if I focused on my breath and deepened the stretch, the difficulty increased. I would certainly recommend this yoga program for pain relief, especially for those new to yoga or with impaired flexibility.

Summary: Very well done but...
Review: I've been practicing yoga with videos for some time now, and I thought that this would be a relaxing workout which would help with my frequent headaches. However, I discovered that the video is more focused towards bodily aches and pains--namely neck pain, back pain, arthritis, or injuries. For someone suffering from one of those conditions and who has only a limited range of motion, this DVD could be very useful. It is a led my a husband and wife team, Charles and Lisa Matkin, and broken into three 10 minutes sections. The first, in which Lisa demostrates and Charles provides voiceover, is a series of seated poses on a chair with a strong emphasis on breathing. Charles leads the second section with Lisa's voiceover; this section includes gentle standing postures using the chair for assistance. In the final section, Lisa again leads, this time demonstrating a series of floor poses for relaxation. Anyone who has some prior experience with yoga is likely to find these practices to be much too easy, but for those who are absolute beginners and/or those who have chronic pain, this DVD could be beneficial.

Summary: Candlelight Yoga is better...
Review: The time for each pose is too short, you'll be busy with changing your body position rather than focus on breathing. I found Candlelight Yoga does a pretty good job on teaching breath, the movement is simple to learn and you'll feel very relaxed after you are done with it.

Summary: Great DVD
Review: This DVD has really helped me alot with my fibromyalgia and chronic pain. The breathing techniques and yoga poses helped me to relieve some of my pain. It also stresses that you should not go beyond your means. I highly recommend this DVD.
