Rating: Summary: Not for someone without a lot of strength/Great yoga Review: I use both of Cindy's video's and am always sore afterward. They are both challenging and flexible and after several years I am never bored. I am surprised that no one else noted the amount of strength in the knees needed for The Next Challenge. This video is not for the faint of heart and requires one to be in good cardio/vascular shape. Take it slow if you are a beginner. I also want to note that I have purchased a yoga tape recently by Rodney Yee. Cindy has been way ahead of the gaing! Her warm up and down is full of yoga type moves and stretches and is the best that I've done or seen. Sometimes I use only this portion of her video and feel very energized. I do her next challenge video on Sundays and do kick boxing the rest of the week because of the time constaints. I highly recommend The Next Challenge to anyone who is looking for a great all over workout (with no equipment). Just have the hot bath ready when you're done!
Rating: Summary: Athletic moves, not jumpy fluff Review: Getting this video used for a buck was the best deal I have found all year. Cindy begins with a good warm up and stretch section. The aerobic series follows. I am not a fan of elaborate aerobics, so I was happy with the basics that are really worked: lunges, squats, kicks and jumps. Three ab segments are spread out across the workout: you will feel the burn. I think there is a total of about 160-200 reps. The stregnth training is very thorough: lots of chest excercises are something kind of different, rows and curls are plentiful. All of this takes place with beautiul backgrounds and ethereal music. Cindy is sweet and inspirational, but as another reviewer pointed out, not even supermodels have perfect bodies. Working out is fun!
Rating: Summary: A Great and Effective Workout! Review: I already own the VHS version of this and often thought how awesome it would be if it were in a DVD format. Well, I have just purchased the DVD format. I have been doing this workout for 8-9 years and still love it. It covers everthing from cardio to toning with weights. I still enjoy doing it after all this time because it is very thorough and very effective. Once I get the DVD, I can get right to the workout without having to rewind anything! On days that I walk, I can pop the DVD in and go right to the abs, chest, arms, shoulders and back section. This will work every muscle group you have!
Rating: Summary: Has a Very Different Look and Feel Review: Compared to my Denise Austin and Kathy Smith videos, this tape looks like something that should be played on MTV. I find that I get so caught up in the sophisticated camerawork, unusual music, and funky backgrounds that it's sometimes hard to pay attention to what I'm doing. I really love the look and sound of this video and that's one of the main reasons I enjoy doing it. The cardio section is really intense, but seems too short. Her sequence of lunges, squats and other moves for the lower body is a killer routine. I haven't felt so sore in a long time, and I'm a runner! Definitely not for the faint-hearted or anyone with bad knees. She spends a lot more time on chest exercises than any other video I've used. I wish the abs section had fewer full-body situps; they're not great for the lower back and I think there are more effective moves that put less stress on that area. I found that the routine for arms didn't do much for me until I started using eight-pound weights for some of the exercises; however, I have to switch back and forth between eight-pound and five-pound weights since I am not strong enough to use the heavier weights with some of the exercises. Overall, this is a video I always enjoy using, primarily because it's so entertaining to watch and I love the music. (However, I'm always relieved when the lower body segment is over!) Although I don't feel I'm getting enough of a cardio workout, all the muscles in my body feel pleasantly tired and challenged afterwards.
Rating: Summary: Interesting change of pace Review: I was pleasantly surprised by this workout. It differs from most in that you're not doing choreographed moves in time to upbeat music - Cindy typically does 10 reps of a move, and then goes on to something else. There's little opportunity to get bored. Her pace can be a bit fast, but I don't try to keep up - I concentrate on form, not quantity, and as a result I focus more on the muscles I'm working. The music is basically a pleasant background. Some of it seemed odd at first but it grows on you. Cindy is not an articulate or motivating instructor (the opposite of Denise Austin or Susan Powter!), but her strong, fit body and proper form speak for themselves. I would not recommend this tape to anyone who's starting an exercise program, is significantly overweight, or has knee, hip, or back problems - many of the cardio moves are high impact, and the cardio segment is too short and intense for those whose primary goal is to burn fat. But this tape includes many exercises for both upper and lower body that I haven't seen anywhere else, especially for the chest muscles (perhaps not surprising for a model!). I don't do this tape often but I always enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite! My boyfriend is even doing it! Review: This is a strong workout. Don't be put off by the fact that it is a model doing the routine. My boyfriend watched some of what I was doing and decided he would try it too. It worked him good and he claims he will do it every week now. It's thorough, too the point and doesn't waste your time. You get a good hour of strength and cardio all around. This is not whimpy fluff that has you moving around, but not really concentrating on strengthing your muscle groups (if that's what you want, don't get this). And to top all that off, Cindy is a pleasant person to be around, with a soothing and real demeanor. Plus the setting, editing and music is qualilty.
Rating: Summary: 5 Stars Review: This is an excellent all over body workout. The music is great and the excercises are fun and challenging. It's a great way to introduce weights into your workout plan.
Rating: Summary: nice! Review: i have done alot of workout vidoes and this is still my all time favorite dispite the fact that it is older than most videos i own.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous workout! Review: Finally my very favorite workout has been released on DVD!! It's about time! In this Cindy workout follow up, Cindy has left her Hollywood glam behind and is showing us the real deal. She has very little makeup and her hair is pulled back plainly and she looks like the rest of us during a workout. I like that. The non -nonsense, straight shooting workout will leave you sore and breathless. Her trainer Radu is the mastermind behind all the exercises and coaches her as she does them. My videotape copy finally broke from too much play! I used it right after I had my twins, and it was the only one I could stick with. Interesting sets, music and writing. There's a comprehensive, well-paced selection of weight training, conditioning, aerobics and stretching. It will take you about an hour and a half to do the whole thing. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks for bringing it out on DVD. I have pre-ordered it and have sent the link to all my friends who are still using the video.
Rating: Summary: Choose "Shape Your Body" Instead Review: After working out with Cindy's "Shape Your Body" workouts for months, I was thrilled to take the "Next Challenge". The leg work/cardio (first 20-25 minutes) is terrific, but I found that the abs and arms in the Shape your Body workouts did much more for me. I now do her leg work and switch to the original tapes for the other sections. If you don't have Shape your Body - skip this one and buy that instead. That tape offers two 45 minutes workouts that provide overall toning. Alternate the two workouts once or twice a week and you will see changes in your body that you never imagined.
