Summary: A comprehensive workout
Review: I bought the Pilates Complete for Everyone DVD after having taken some live classes and have been using it for several months now. I am quite satisfied with my purchase. As long as you have a decent DVD player, the workouts proceed at a nice pace and offer thorough instructions for each move. You really get a workout if you do the exercises properly, and this DVD offers a number of workouts at each level so you can progress and still have a good deal of variety. Despite what some reviews have stated, the DVD does offer 35 full workouts. The first few exercises of each workout are the same, but the routines vary after that. Of course, you can only expect so much variation in a DVD that includes only true Pilates moves, as there are a limited number of them out there. All in all, for the amount of instruction and the variety of workouts you get, this DVD has earned the critical acclaim it has received from various fitness publications.

Summary: not exactly what the title promised-but still good
Review: I do have all the dvd features on my player, but there is still in no way 35 complete workouts. The routines do run in loops. The moves are carefully demonstrated-the beginner modifications are doable and safe. Not to personally attack the announcer but it's very annoying to hear her pant and count out the reps of the hundred, and since each routine includes that it's a lot of panting. I recommend pilates for dummies or ana cabans videos over this.

Summary: Very Annoying
Review: To start, there are not 35 workouts on this dvd. All start with the same thing, so you can't even add two together for a longer workout. I haven't seen any that are over 20 minutes yet. And the lady's voice is extremely obnoxious. Some sections might be a decent work out if you can turn off the sound.

Summary: Awesome Pilates DVD
Review: I just read a review in Fitness Magazine about this Pilates DVD, so I went out and bought it. WOW!!!! It was so incredibly awesome and interactive. I could chose to do what I wanted when I wanted. I am now able to do my Pilates every night without having to go to a class. I am at the beginner level and feel myself getting stronger each time I do it. This is a DVD I will be using for a very long time.

Review: I wish I read more reviews about this dvd before purchasing it. I agree with the previous poster who said the voice-ever was horrible and distracting. I wanted to put it on mute, but I needed the instructions. It was a grating and annoying voice over and the 1-2-3-4-5 made me want to stop the dvd. Also the 5 minutes of warnings and ads before every 5-10 minute "workout" was really really useless. If you tried to skip it or fast forward it, you get brought back to the beginning and have to watch it anyways. The workout was adequate, but you never really get a good flow going because of all the pauses, your muscles get cold in between segments and the stretching benefit seems to be lost in those wasteful moments. I actually thought my dvd was irregular or broken! Alot of the workouts are repetitive, so there really is only one workout mixed up in 35 different ways, and it takes forever to "search" for the next pose, so it kinda freezes up and then suddenly starts up again.

bottom line, really frustrating and not much of a workout.

Summary: A Pain to Use
Review: I thought DVDs were supposed to facilitate use?! Not this one. Every time you want to select a new or different routine you are subjected to the doctor's warning shpeal. Beginner workouts may only be five minutes, others ten, etc. To feel like I've gotten a good workout I might want to do a few together, but it is so frustrating, not to mention unmotivating, to have to wait through the warning before each workout that I often think twice before using this DVD. Also, many of the routines are the same, just in different length segments, so it doesn't feel like a great value. Finally, even the beginner's workouts are challenging in that there is not a great deal of explanation on technique, and the instructor moves very quickly. I know after my workouts I was in pain, and not the good kind. It may be "Complete" but it is certainly not for "Everybody". In my opinion, you have to have a lot of patience and an already well developed body to enjoy this DVD. Bottom line, it is not an easy introduction to pilates physically or mentally. Maybe that is why there are so many warnings???

Summary: Try it everyday for 2 weeks
Review: I've never tried Pilates before but I excercise regularly. With bikini weather here I decided to try this DVD because of what I'd heard that it does for your abs. It's true, the 'workouts' on the DVD are usually only 7-12 minutes long despite what the menu options say, but I've found that doing atleast 4 'workouts' a day has made a huge difference in the way my abs look. What's great about this DVD is the number of 'workouts' included for each level of training. I've been using it for a month and I'm only yet beginning the intermediate level. I can see that I'll be using this DVD for quite a while.

Summary: Annoying Pilates-ish Eercise for Everyone
Review: This DVD looks okay, if you ignore the school-portrait-style background. The real problem is the voice-over. The announcer sounds like a former cheerleader with a sinus problem. I think it's okay, if you're going to just watch and not listen. (She counts out loud, "and in 1 2 3 4 5 and out 1 2 3 4 5" during the hundred, which one does not need to hear ten times in order to want to strangle her). There aren't really 35 workouts on the DVD, instead they are cleverly linked and looped depending on which workout selection you choose. This is fine. What isn't fine is the 5 minutes of heath warnings one has to sit through before beginning the workout. If you want a good Pilates DVD by actual experts as opposed to former aerobics instructors, I highly recommend "Classic Pilates." It has similarly low-budget backgrounds, but the person that chose the backgrounds for "Classical Pilates" has at least a bit of taste.

Summary: a total waste of money
Review: I bought this DVD because it has such great reviews. But as I found out after having it for only one week that it was the biggest waste of time and money. If you have never taken a Pilates class before, and have no idea what it is supposed to be this DVD might be something you would like. In the end though you would be wasting your time, effort, and money on something that is poor quality and poor pilates! (...) It also states that there are workouts for the "less flexible people" and that is completely false, they do not alter the routine one bit from the original "more complex" routine.
