Summary: School House Still Rocks
Review: Revisiting these snippets from my childhood was incredible! I can remember a time when just seeing "Interjection" would mean that I had a great weekend. Now I can have a good weekend every weekend.
I've spent the past three days engrossed in the DVDs. The animation may be of a lower quality than we've become used to, but the lyrics and music are incredible. I haven't been able to stop singing "Sufferin' til Suffrage" and "Rufus Xavier Sasparilla". I recieved the DVDs as a gift and a dozen of us sat down (during a party) and watched these wonderful animated gems. Share them with your kids, your parents, your students, and DEFINITELY your friends. Entertaining, energetic, and educational (we all need a brush up now and then, don't we?)

Summary: Awsome walk down memory lane
Review: This DVD is great. To be able to go back and see all of the old
School House Rock videos was really cool. I now have a little girl of my own and I want her to be able to learn grammer, history, math and science in a fun way like I was able to do 30 years ago. The songs and video hold up as well today as it did 30 years ago and my daughter loves to watch and dance to the music. I recomend this to all parents and people who just want to walk down memory lane, you'll find your self sing conjunction junction and I'm just a bill in the shower.

Summary: Re-live your childhood!!!
Review: As some of my other reviews state, there are many shows that I loved a s a kid and when I watch them now I wonder what I saw in them. This is not one of those shows. This is still as entertaining as it was when I watched it as a kid. Sure, there are some songs not worth watching, but the good ones make up for it. And the DVD is GREAT!!! It is LOADES with special features, the best being the random play mode, which plays EVERY SONG IN RANDOM ORDER!!! Plus some commentary on select songs, a trivia contest, and a bunch more stuff. There is so much stuff it took me like 5 days to finally watych everything. THIS IS WHAT A DVD SHOULD BE!!! I cant wait to have kids of my own and show them this DVD, so I can enjoy it with them!!! DEFINITALY WORTH THE MONEY!!!

Summary: It is time to criticize Schoolhouse Rock.
Review: There's a lot to like about Schoolhouse Rock. I grew up watching it just like everybody else my age.Looking back on it now, sure, the nostalgia factor is high. But sometimes, the various segments can be factually inaccurate.
For example, the "Verb" song identifies "batting" as a verb, when it's actually a gerund that acts as a noun in a sentence. Example: "I like batting." The subject is "I". The verb is "like". And the object -- which has to be a noun -- is the gerund "batting". Now, maybe gerunds are a little beyond the scope of the song, but then it should have stuck to plain old verbs like "bat" (I bat, you bat, etc.), not "batting".
Another problem is that "Interplanet Janet" strongly implies that the sun is a planet, when it is actually a star. (The lyrics briefly -- very briefly -- mention that it's a star, but the overwhelming repetition of the word "planet" in the song, as well as the inclusion of the Sun along with all the other planets in order, implies that the sun's a planet too, just like all the others.)
There are other slip-ups like this throughout the series, if you look for them. Schoolhouse Rock is good fun, but it's not always good education.

Summary: Timeless...
Review: If you grew up in the 1970's, you probably remember most of these wonderful shorts that actually taught you something and were loads of fun to sing. A far cry from the politically correct ... that passes for educational TV these days, Schoolhouse Rock taught everything from math to American government to a generation of kids. I can't wait to hear my son singing these classics in a few years time (he's 5 months old now). So do yourself (and your kids) a favor and turn off that purple liberal dinosaur and his leftist-leaning friends and pop in this great DVD!

Summary: Great!!!
Review: I can't say enough about this product. I am an elementary music teacher, and find this to be an excellent resource. I wish there were more stars. I would rate this product higher if I could. My only criticism would have to be that it seems to be a little difficult (or rather, too time-consuming) navigating through the dvd. That's really just being picky, though. I do love this product.

Summary: Lolly, Lolly, Lolly Get Your Adverbs Here.....
Review: Without a doubt one of the best Saturday morning cartoons even produced and the best way to learn about grammar, history and politics. How many times have you ever found yourself saying "I'm just a Bill" or "Conjunction Junction", in most crowds you will get a smile and maybe even a sing along on those crafty and informative tunes. This DVD offers all of the popular songs with special emphasis on what many fans votes were the Top 10. There is also a new song featuring a voter booth named Boothy who sings about the importance of voting. The menus are fun and easy to click through. The only beef I had are the idiotic and unnecessary Disney commercials placed on the disk, you cant skip them easily and they are annoying! Otherwise this is a most welcome addition to my DVD library and will be a prized for some time.

Summary: general DVD gripe
Review: The actual Schoolhouse Rock DVD is great but the 20 minutes of previews that you are forced to sit through and are unable to skip are really a pain. Unfortunately, this is a problem with a lot of DVD's (especially ones for kids - suggestive selling does work), but this one seems to have more previews and commercials than most. My daughter won't be watching this unless we can take a long bathroom break or something between the time we hit play and the start of Schoolhouse Rock.

Summary: As Good As Ever
Review: I bought the original School House Rock for my niece and nephew. I bought the 30th anniversary DVD edition for my great nieces with great reviews from my niece who stunned her children by singing "Conjunction Junction, What's Your Function," and "I Am a Bill." This collection is a great way to sing and remember important educational "things" without even knowing you are doing it. But don't take my word for it; take the kid's word. At last viewing, they were singing and dancing merrily along, not realizing they were learning.

Summary: Reliving Schoolhouse Rock All Over Again!!
Review: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, this DVD. I bought it as soon as it was issued! I thought I was buying it for my 3-year-old son (who already loves the Audio CD Grammar Rock), but I find myself with him, singing and dancing along to these educational music videos.
My son asks to see this every day, and I feel encouraged to let him watch something so enjoyable, that will teach him SOO much. I can't believe my son has already memorized lots of these, and can sing "Conjunction, Junction" just as well as I can! The guys that created Schoolhouse Rock were geniuses. The 46 complete song-set was more than enough - but the "lost song", Scooter Computer, and the Emmy featurette and documentary are what REALLY make this a GREAT buy for grownups, kids, and grown-up kids.
