Summary: a disappointment
Review: I own Baby Bach, Shakespeare, Doolittle, and Van Gogh and my 15-month-old has always loved them. This video is VERY DIFFERENT. It is not of the quality that Einstein video owners have come to expect. There is a lot of blurry animation and the host, a creepy animated clown, leaves me feeling cold. My son, who is usually mesmerized by the videos, did not even look over. Maybe this has something to do with Disney buying the company, but I don't recognize it. The music is different. It is usually light, airy, and playful. This music is bad adult music. I'm truly disappointed because after personally having to view my other tapes hundreds of times, I still enjoy them. The other videos are wonderful - simple, clever, playful, use real objects and children, and classical music. Newton is not well-made and a true disappointment.

Summary: Not worthy of the Baby Einstein Title
Review: My 18 month old enjoys all of the B.E. Videos. They are one series that we felt confident in allowing our daughter to watch because of the classical music, gentle visuals and real world charm of the children, puppets and toys. Baby Newton is a huge departure from their format and is unwatchable. The computer animation is soulless, the music is horrible and the stock footage is pure filler. It is my opinion that people who care passionately about what images their children are digesting will find this DISNEY version of Baby Newton unacceptable.

Summary: A very different feel
Review: We own all of the Baby Einstien videos. My son started with Baby Einstein when he was 6mos old. I was very excited when I heard of this because at 23 months he loves to point out shapes. What a different kind of video this is from the rest of the series. Hard to explain, but there is a lot of computer animation as opposed to live children. My son likes the puppets and toys(like the old videos) and goes to play when the computer animated crayons are on. Maybe I just don't like change. Still a good video, just different.

Summary: I am VERY DISAPPOINTED
Review: I'll be honest - my 18 month old son enjoys this video. But I don't. I am particular about what my son watches: I don't want him listening to loud rock/soul music, I don't want him watching cartoons, and I don't want his videos to be frenetic and hyper. Unfortunately, Baby Newton is all of this. It's a huge disappointment. The animation is awful and reminds me of that revolting "roly poly oly" cartoon Disney puts out - makes you wonder if it's the same animators. There is a really bad "music video" played twice that consists of this freaky looking animated "clown" made of shapes. At times the song sounds like a bad ripoff of James Brown -- other times it's just annoyingly bad. There are almost no children, almost no toys, and almost no puppets in this video. It's mostly bad animation and stock footage of vegetables. The few times a puppet shows up, my son laughs out loud. That's clearly his favorite part of the video. If you like the other Baby Einstein products, DON'T BUY THIS VIDEO.

Summary: I totally agree with Texas fan!
Review: We, too own all of the Baby Einstein videos. I was so excited to see a new one released. My 16 month old son LOVES them, especially Shakespeare and Van Gogh because of the kids and puppets. I was surprised to see that Disney released it instead of FHE, like the others. Anyway, it was awful and my son screamed for me to turn it off after 10 minutes. What happened to the kids? The music was loud and annoying. The animated crayons and shapes were so unfriendly and uninviting. I am really dissapointed! I only saw one familiar puppet, the horse from Doolittle's neighborhood animals. The rest all looked new to me. If you are reading this Julie Clark (creator) go back to the old way of making these videos! I will hesitate to buy another!

Summary: Very Disappointed
Review: My son and I love all the Baby Einstein videos (with the exception of Baby Bach) and we were really looking forward to the release of Baby Newton. This video does not follow the same format as the other videos in this series. There is an animated "clown" as the main character as well as animated dancing crayons. There is very little classical music ,a few puppet shows, and no children. This video did not hold my son's attention and I really wish I would have previewed it before I invested my money in it! What a dissapointment!!!!

Summary: Very Disappointed...
Review: We are big fans of the Baby Einstein Company and were very disappointed when we watched this video. It has some of the elements of the previous productions, but was too flashy and had more of the quality of your run of the mill video. We liked the previous videos because they were simple and babies could relate to them. Here we have expensive production elements that distract from the learning of shapes.

Summary: VERY DISSAPPOINTING
Review: I eagerly purchased this video like many of the other Baby Einstein videos because I assumed that it would be like the others. I was looking at the back of the box and noticed that Walt Disney had made these. Interesting....
I got the video home and watched it with my daughter, and when you think of the tone of Baby Shakespeare, or Baby Van Gogh...Baby Newton is the EXACT opposite. It's VERY loud with an obnoxious song called "I Know My Shapes" that is sung NOT once, but TWICE in the 30 minute video (This sequence with the clown takes at least five minutes, so just that sequence makes up a third of the whole video). There is an extreme amount of computer generated graphics, and MUCH less classical music and puppets. The only time my 2 year old daughter laughs is when she sees the puppets...once at the beginning and once towards the end!!! Julie Clarke sold Baby Einstein to Disney and you can definitely tell. If you loved her videos because they were quiet and relaxing- those days are long gone. It seems that from now on Baby Einstein will be just another kids cartoon, ALL computer generated, and no originality or "real" anything.

Summary: Another Hit in Our Home
Review: The Baby Newton video seems like the natural progression for my 15 month old from her other favorites (Mozart & Dolittle). Since we have watched each of those videos over and over it seems like she was outgrowing them a little. Now with this new video, our daughter is again glued to the screen watching the various shapes come alive. Thank you Baby Einstein for developing a video better suited for my growing (and now even smarter) daughter.

Summary: Another example of big business messes up small business
Review: Have spent countless afternoons peacefully watching Baby Doolitle, Baby Van Gogh. We have all of them. Love how peaceful, charming, imaginative and silly they all have been. We bought our son Baby Mozart when he was one month old, and he identifies Bard the dragon better than he could identify Mickey Mouse.
Baby Newton is an unfortunate example of how high quality graphics do not enhance a given product. The puppets are overdone, the video itself is overdone, disjointed and redundant.
My baby was more interested in his shoes than in watching this video, but glanced back every so often to see if there was something that interested him more..even he wanted to give it a second chance.
I hope Julie Clark and Baby Einstein Company will be able to convince Disney that they were going in the right direction with the original series.
