Summary: Excellent learning video
Review: I am an interpreting student at a college for the Deaf, and I recently took on the task of teaching my hearing, two-year-old niece how to sign. Since I am not able to be around all of the time, I decided to purchase some videos to reinforce and enhance her aquisition of the language during my absence. This video, which is geared toward hearing children, has definitely been the best purchase in many respects. Most importantly, it does an excellent job of capturing, and holding, her attention. It also does a wonderful job of establishing the connection between words/concepts and their corresponding signs. The video is also great in regard to viewer participation. Signs are not presented strung together in confusing songs that are impossible for a child to imitate, as in many other children's signing videos. The signs are simply presented and then visually reinforced by other children in a way that encourages the child to follow along.

Summary: Educational and Entertaining! Great gift for any child!
Review: This is such a fun way to teach your child better communication skills and a second language. We started teaching our son some basic signs that we had seen in a baby book when he was one year old (I wish we would have started even younger). We were amazed at how much it helped us to know what our baby wanted. He could express some of his wants without crying (like to tell us he wanted more of something or that he was all done) and we didn't have to play guessing games to figure out what he wanted.

Now that we found this Signing Time video, at age 22 months, our son's signing and speaking vocabulary has expanded immensely in just a few viewings. He loves the video and asks to watch it instead of his old favorites. This video is so well done with a mix of animation, real kids and music. Our 5 and 7 year old nieces love it too and remembered many of the signs after just one viewing. It is great quality, a super educational opportunity and exceptionally entertaining (even for adults). Every baby and young child should have one and parents can feel good about teaching their child a second language and helping them develop positive communication skills.

Summary: THE BEST!!
Review: My children LOVE this video. They can't stop watching it. And after just a few viewings, they knew all the signs. We are using all the signs and just having a lot of FUN. This has to be one of the BEST baby-sign videos out there!!

Summary: THE BEST SIGNING VIDEOS OUT THERE!
Review: I purchased all three Signing Time videos when my son was 6 months old. He is almost two now and still loves the videos! He knows and practices ALL the signs from Signing Time 1,2 and 3! He signs while speaking, which is very helpful when new verbal words are spoken! Don't pass these videos up! You won't be dissapointed if you are serious about teaching your child to sign!

Summary: I love this video
Review: My 2 and 1/2 year old son has a speech delay. These video's saved us. He would grunt for everything. Now, if he wants a cookie, he uses that sign. I couldn't believe it worked. I thought there was no way, but it did. He is learning to talk but for the words he can't say, this video is the best! Plus I have learned sign language myself along with my other two children. They can understand my son and help him to remember signs. It is worth every penny! By the 3rd time he watched one of the video's he started to sign to me.

Summary: This is what I was looking for
Review: I love the baby's voices, this video in comparison to other videos catches and keeps babies attention. My son and he cousin interacted with the TV and each other and laughed and practiced through the whole video. One is 18 months and the other child is 14 months. I would recommend this to any baby past 6 months.

Summary: Elegantly simple and charming
Review: This production has a certain magic to it that is nearly indescribable. The tenderness with which it was created shines through and provides an unexpected, heartfelt swelling of joy. Well worth the price.

For those who complain about the sheer number of signs: It's kind of like saying, "Norah Jones (or other respected artist) doesn't pump out enough hits". Simply use your creativity and get a sign disctionary and present them to your children in a colorful fashion such as modeled in these productions! Problem solved. As for me, I'm voting with my dollars to encourage this type of authentic, educational creativity.

Summary: Wonderful doesn't begin to describe this video!
Review: I bought this video for my grandchildren ages 2 & 4. I couldn't believe how quickly they picked up on the signs. They remembered most of them after the first viewing. It has been a great family project with the adults also getting in on the learning.
I highly recommend this video for anyone with children or hearing impaired family members or friends.
I am ordering the remainder of the videos today. I can't wait to get them and start learning more signs with the kids.

Summary: Must Have Sign Language DVD's!!!!
Review: Like all of the other praising reviews, these DVD's are wonderful. My son is 14 months old and already has learned 5 different signs. My 5 year old enjoys using and teaching new signs to his brother. The signs are show very clearly, slowly and repeatedly, making them easy to learn. I am really looking forward to purchasing volumes 4-6.

Summary: Great results in our family. Worth every penny!
Review: My son, who has unilateral hearing loss, is 21 months old and signing: cookie (which means cookie, cracker and food to him), thirsty, water, cold, banana, hi/bye, sleep, apple, more and "thank you" all because of the Signing Time DVDs. The second we put the DVD in and he sees Rachel's familiar face, his whole face lights up and a smile spreads from ear to ear. He LOVES the DVDs. Not only is he signing the words, but he is saying them as part of a 31 word vocabulary, many of which are reinforced in Signing Time.

Most of the toddlers in his playgroup also sign (from using the same DVDs) even though they have normal hearing. My fellow playgroup parents and I have found that our children avoid many temper tantrums because they can easily tell us what they want via a sign. As children learn physical movement faster than language skills, this makes perfect sense.

The songs are very nicely done and not annoying. They have been lifesavers in themselves. Whenever my son was learning to walk and would fall down, I would sing the song about "...when you fall down, you always get back up..." and he would start smiling rather than crying.

Best of all? You are learning a new language, too!
