Summary: Great for language stimulation!
Review: My 10 month old LOVES this DVD! I have been signing with her (she is hearing) since she was an infant & she started signing "more" at around 7 1/2 months. She is absolutely glued to the TV when I put this on. The combination of signs, pictures, actions and written words is a terrific way to reinforce each vocabulary word taught. I would love to have more music, but I hear that happens in volume 2- that'll be my next purchase!

Summary: THIS IS A MUST PURCHASE
Review: It is important to get all three DVD's and the companion CD. The signs are easy to learn. My 6 yr old learned 30 in his first viewing. All three sons picked up quickly and are now teaching to my daughter. My daughter has Down syndrome and her signing vocabulary is more extensive than the verbal vocabulary of kids her age in our neighborhood. Because she got such a great start in signing, her verbal vocabulary is leaps beyond where her therapist thought she would be. The CD is great to keep in the car. My kids sign along while singing and reinforce what they learn. Using all the DVDs has really made our life easier.

Summary: Learning can be fun!!!!
Review: I bought this video to see if either of my kids would watch it. I have always been facinated with sign language, and was hoping that we could learn together. Both 20 month old Joshua and 6 month old Wesley absolutely love the video. I wish I would have bought the boxed set of three. We have had it a week and watch it almost everyday. It's not too long and my 20 mth old is already signing: want, milk, eat, mom, dad, and ball. It is amazing. I love it!

Summary: These are wonderful videos
Review: I don't let my son (who is hearing) watch TV or videos, except these. He's 14 months old and has been learning ASL for about two months now. He can sign eat, more, bird, dog, all done, airplane, cereal, banana, daddy, mommy and now, my favorite, sleepy. He loves these videos and "asks" for them all the time. I do the signs with him all the time, too, so I can't say how much he learned from the videos vs. from me, but come to think of it, he knows the sign for cat and I don't think I taught him that one. I wish the shots of Alex and Leah in the treehouse were more close up and didn't have such a busy background, but in general I think these are very high quality.

Review: I would rate this a very high four or a lowish five.
First the positive:
I like that first the written word is flashed on the screen- Ball (for example). Then you see the item on the screen in a natural setting or as a cartoon. Then you see a mother doing the signing. After that you see kids doing the sign language as you see a wide variety of examples of that item. Big balls, little balls, orange balls and green balls. Then you see more kids doing the sign for the item. And at the end of the segment, the mother doing the sign for ball again. WE were quickly able to pick up several of the signs and begin using them in our daily speaking. With a little bit watching every day, we picked up many signs that were easy to use and encorporate daily. The negative:
Very few negatives. One negative was that there was no sign taught for please and thank you. These are easy signs and should have been included in the first video I believe. The other negative for us, and my kids are a bit older and wanted to learn how to put some of those signs together. For example, it taught mother and it taught dog. They would have liked to see someone do mother dog. However, this is a starting video and I can understand why it didn't do that- it was just a negative for my children. Overall, a great video. Very educational and very helpful in learning to sign. Well worth the money. Enjoy.

Summary: My son and I love this video! He learned 40 signs in 2 mos!
Review: My son has a birth defect that causes speech delay. He had been going to speech therapy for months in which they were trying to teach him sign so he could communicate in some way until he could speak. Months and month he didnt sign one word until we bought the signing time videos, the next day he was signing and is now up to 40 signs in 2 months and still going strong! He is so happy to be communicating and he thinks it is fun! I highly recommend these videos to EVERY parent, my husband and I love to watch them to and the music is awesome!!!!

Summary: Get Signing Time AND Baby See n Sign
Review: TEACH first with "Baby See n Sign." Then REINFORCE and ENTERTAIN with "Signing Time." Both are based on American Sign Language and are designed for hearing children. (This review is also posted on the "Baby See n Sign" product page) I purchased the first volumes of these two products when my son was 14 months old. At the time, he had a signing repertoire of about 10 signs, including "eat," "milk," "more," "water," and a handful of others. As a teacher of English as a second language, I know that teaching vocabulary to beginners in any language requires clarity and repetition. I found these 2 qualities most prevalent in "Baby See n Sign" Volume 1; over 60 signs are presented one at a time in a clear, focused manner, not amidst an entire story or series of songs. Admittedly, "Signing Time" is more entertaining with lots of real and animated images, lively music, songs, and children performing signs; but there are only 18 signs on the first volume, the signs sometimes lack context, and the children do not provide the best examples of how to produce the signs. Their variations, while cute and interesting to adults, may be too distracting and confusing for a young beginner. Save "Signing Time" for an entertaining reinforcement, and start with "Baby See n Sign." However, if your child is older and verbal (say over 2 years), then the "Signing Time" format would be OK to start with; just remember there are only 18 signs. The 60+ signs on "Baby See n Sign" are divided into several categories, such as "Food," "Let's Get Dressed," and "Down on the Farm"; each category has about 8 signs. I do not recommend that a small child watch this video from beginning to end; there is too much information. What worked for my son and me was to watch one category every few days. We then practiced those signs while having a snack, getting dressed, or playing with his Fisher Price farm animals. And everyday, we watched that section of the video again for further practice and review. It took us about 3 weeks to get through all of the categories, and he now produces most of the signs, some more correctly than others. We then moved on to "Signing Time" which has been such a fun reinforcement to "Baby See n Sign." Most of the "Signing Time" Volume 1 signs had already been introduced on "Baby See n Sign" Volume 1. My son really enjoys watching the other children sign what he already knows, and he adores the songs. He's even been able pick up the few new signs from "Signing Time"; I just make sure to demonstrate the correct sign on several other occasions. We have recently acquired the remaining volumes of both products. "Baby See n Sign" Volume 2 has over 100 signs and uses the same clear format. Volumes 2 and 3 of "Signing Time" have about 60 signs total, and the entertainment value gets better with each volume-a really great song called "Magic Words" on Volume 2 highlights the use of "please" and "thank-you," and my son loves "The Silly Pizza Song" on Volume 3. "Baby See n Sign" and "Signing Time" have been instrumental in my son's progress with signing AND speaking. He is now 17 months old, and he recognizes about 80 signs; he can produce about 40 of them, and we're learning more everyday. We have so much to talk about all the time. I truly believe that using "Baby See n Sign" in the introductory phase of signing makes "Signing Time" that much more meaningful and enjoyable. GET THEM BOTH!! Another great resource for signs not included on either video is the Michigan State University's on-line ASL Browser at http://commtechlab.msu.edu/sites/aslweb/browser.htm There you'll be able to click on a word and see a live person demonstrating the sign. I've found this website invaluable for introducing signs for things my son is particularly interested in.

Summary: DISAPPOINTING!!!
Review: I received this video as a baby gift. I was disappointed because there are only 18 signs on it! I was also disappointed that there are only two songs, one during the opening and one during the credits. I really liked the beautiful mommy, kids signing, and the two songs, but wanted more signs. I also felt there was too much time spent on each sign.

Summary: Five Star quality but three star prices
Review: These videos are wonderful, and my baby loves them. The instructions are clear and accessible, showing multiethnic children doing each sign, with cute music and graphics. To see a sample, go to their website ..., where you can also directly order the videos. Their customer service staff was very prompt and helpful. These videos are very expensive @ [money] for 30 minutes and about 15-20 signs per video.

Summary: THE BEST SIGNING VIDEOS AVAILABLE!
Review: I have purchased many sign language videos most of which were not very good. There are not many fun videos available for teaching your child to sign! I was so happy to find Signing Time!
WE LOVE ALL 3 VERSIONS of SIGNING TIME! They are fun, interesting, musical, educational and cute all in one. These videos are the best purchase I have made when it comes to signing with my son. He has learned many different signs from them and never gets tired of watching his videos!
To those of you who are thinking about buying Signing Time and not sure, STOP THINKING AND BUY! I promise you'll love these videos!
