Summary: Great Series Finale
Review: This was a wonderful series finale from start to finish, jumping five years into the future to give us a glimpse of how these characters we loved so much turned out as adults.

There are all kinds of endings in these two hours, some very, very sad and some very happy. You will be moved to both laugh and cry.

It is unfortunate that those who wished to see Dawson end up with Joey cannot appreciate this series send-off for what it is, and cannot follow the story that is being told here. The character of Joey Potter "belonged" to no one but herself, and she followed her heart not only once, but twice to the same man - Pacey Witter. Anyone who has watched the show for every season, not just the first one, knows that Joey was in love with Pacey and chose him over Dawson once before, so I don't know why some are claiming this ending does not "fit" when it specifically follows everything we saw happen in Joey's relationship with Pacey on the show.

Her relationship with Dawson over the course of the series is even "made fun of" in a sly dream twist by the show's creator Kevin Williamson, which is a laugh out loud funny scene and a fine example of how this show was always able to poke fun at itself. But is was also a way for us to see why her ending up with Dawson would be so wrong, after all the misery they caused each other and how they could never make it work.

All and all, this is a worthwhile DVD for any true fan of the show and anyone who loves to see true love win out in the end.

Summary: SO SO
Review: Well, as much as I wanted Dawson & Joey to end up together, i now see that the writers had to end the show with Joey & Pacey.
If you think about it, Dawson & Joey have been soulmates from episode 1. Let's just say Joey did pick Dawson in the finale. Dawson would have gotten Joey the soulmate & Joey the lover.
That would have left Pacey with nothing. No Joey, no Andie, just himself stuck in capeside with his restaurant. He would have been left a broken man. While Dawson would have gotten all of Joey, and a successful career in Hollywood. The writers tried to do their best to let both sides be happy. So while the 'true' DC fans will always know who Joey belongs to, we also know that Pacey had to get a little something as well. There is no other way the writers could have ended the show, and satisfied the Pacey fans at the same time.

Summary: a confused mess
Review: anyone who has watched the show from the beginning should be just as confused as I am. At the end of the finale, two characters are playing Dawson & Joey on "the creek" 'Dawson' says "you and me always" Joey is sitting on the couch and says "Perfect" That scene was a throwback to the last episode from season 1 were Dawson & Joey kiss for the first time and later become boyfriend/girlfriend. So if that ending was perfect why is she with Pacey, and if it were perfect why isn't she with Dawson. Confused.
Anyway, Joey tells Jen that she has always known who she is supposed to be with. Well in #602 Joey tells Dawson "More than anything I want for us to be together" She can't just mean friends, cause they already are friends. So why would she tell Dawson that, if she has always known that she is supposed to be with Pacey.
Williamson & Stupin said they were very pleased with the Finale. Do you really think they would get on TV and say "Wow, I look at this now, and it really didn't turn out that good, we should have changed this and this.
Stupin also said he was happy with the music changes in the Season 2 DVD, and look how that turned out. Not many people like the results.
Williamson did create the show, so I guess he should be the one to ruin it, and leave us scratching our heads has to how a show could be so good, and end in such a mess.

Summary: The Perfect Ending
Review: This is the series ending two-hour finale of Dawson's Creek, which turns out to be surprisingly good in relation to the declining quality of the program in its last two seasons.

It jumps five years into the future, humorously enough bringing the actors who played these teens for so long a little bit closer to their actual ages. We get to see how everybody turned out, where life took them after high school and college.

The emphasis on Dawson, of course, is in his Hollywood career, and, of course, he is a big success in the industry. This was always his story, since the first episode of the series, so it was nice to see it come full circle for him.

Joey Potter's story, however, always seemed to be with her romantic love life as it related to her childhood insecurities, and she also ends up in a great place. Finally secure with who she is and grown up enough to get what she wants, which turns out, happily enough, to be that charming romantic hero Pacey that made us all swoon (and also made us wonder what was wrong with that girl for so long not to see it).

The show may have started about her purely innocent childhood crush on her best friend and neighbor Dawson, but thankfully - in this show that was supposed to be about growing up - they actually let the character grow up and change. There are many diehard Dawson and Joey fans out there who may feel slighted, but the truth of the matter is that more time was devoted to the romance of Pacey and Joey on this show than it ever was with her and Dawson. Season three was completely about them falling in love in a wonderfully romantic way, and almost the entire season four was devoted to their relationship. Even in season six the sparks were temporarily rekindled between Pacey and Joey, and both admitted the other had always been still in the back of their minds somewhere. But Joey expressed a lot of fears and trepidation about getting involved with Pacey again, and all those same fears were adddressed in the finale.

What Kevin Williamson's commentary will explain is that, since these characters had grown and experienced so much over the years, a Dawson and Joey ending did not make sense if you looked at the series AS A WHOLE, not just the first two seasons. There were FOUR seasons that followed, and the finale takes those seasons, as well as the Pacey and Joey relationship into consideration, as well it should. Even Williamson and the show's producer Paul Stupin agree in the DVD commentary that the true great romance of the show AS A WHOLE was Pacey and Joey. (And Williamson also carefully explains that the second hour of the show was rewritten for Pacey and Joey to end up together, so Joey's dialogue in their last scene was written for Pacey, not someone else.)

It is a very interesting commentary, to see how the creative process works, to see how a writer can let the story naturally take him where it should, rather than where he thought it was supposed to go when he sat down to write it. Williamson seems delighted with how it ended up, as did the actors who played the roles, which is nice to know. In Joey's last words: "PERFECT"

Summary: Dawson & Joey
Review: Well, after watching the show for six years, I can't believe the ending. In one word: horrible. There is no doubt that the first two season where built around Dawson & Joey, and their relationship. Season's 3-6, it was like they were so close to getting back together, but for some reason they never did. It is obvious that throughout, it was Joey running from Dawson, not Pacey. Kevin Williamson wrote two drafts for Dawson & Joey to end up together, and though he doesn't say in the commentary, the WB ordered that Joey & Pacey end up together.
If the WB want's the show a certin way, (what to wear, hair style, whom ending up with whom) the writers must do what the WB asks. So for all you Joey & Pacey fans, just remember that it was writtin twice for Dawson & Joey, and only cause of the WB it didn't happen.

Summary: People Seemed to Miss the Point
Review: This is a great buy for any fan of the series but I'm very confused as to reading over a couple of reviews here that claim there is some sort of ambiguous ending to the show.

The ending is not ambiguous at all and Joey has made clear choices between the two other triangles members of Dawson and Pacey, one as her life-long friend and the other as her life-long romantic partner. In addition, we were told Jen and Jack were soul mates for a specific purpose, so the ending scenes could be viewed in context. Very misleading to claim there was any kind of open ending here, wishful thinking on some people's part and the audio commentary states very clearly that a choice was made by Joey in the end. So we SEE it as well as hear about it.

Please don't buy this DVD with any misconceptions, the famous DC triangle is most definitely put to rest.

And to my great relief, Joey finally made the right choice.

Summary: Abiguous ending not great, but good storyline, acting
Review: Ahhh Dawson's Creek! Over the span of five and a half years we watched the four interesting teenagers grow into predictable college sophomores. Don't get me wrong the sixth season was okay (I would buy it if there was a DVD), but we soon grew tired of hearing about Dawson's cheap horror movie and that girl Natasha, Joey's "relationship" (and I use the term loosely) with that guy named Eddie, Pacey's stock broker job, and Jen's storyline about becoming a peer counselor. All of the actors deserved more interesting bits. In this finale they got them. All of the cast handled this difficult material relistically and deserve praise for their work. The ending was not great, however. The Dawson-Joey-Pacey love triangle was put to a very unclimatic end and if you listen to the audio commentary on this set you'll find out why. You can tell that the dialogue between Joey and her final choice in the kitchen scene at the end (if you've seen this you'll know what i'm talking about; if you haven't seen this one, but have watched an early episode before, you can point it out) are written for someone else, but the people have been interchanged. And the ending shown onscreen just doesn't fit with the rest of the series. But the ending is left very open for you to choose your own ending if you want to. The core storyline redeems this ending though (and convinced me to go with a five-star rating). One of the main characters faces death head on and the actress does a fine job of playing that out onscreen. Definately pick this one up.

What You Didn't See (or Hear) on TV
*Andie makes an appearance
*Scenes relating to Joey's job
*Joey stumbles upon a ring in her current boyfriend's sock drawer
*Joey and Dawson's first meeting in five years
*Scenes from the pilot that were reshot after the series was picked up
*The Audio Commentary (definately worth a listen)

Summary: Pacey needs his own spin off now
Review: I am so sad that DC is over. And I cry every last single solitary time I watch this DVD. It's as painful as when I saw it on TV when it aired for the first time. I miss it so much, but it's wonderful that I can own it on DVD now. It might have died, but it won't be forgotten. It will live on forever on Digital Versitile Disc. I actually just started getting teary eyed as I was writting this. I truely miss this show and love it, like a friend that passed away. This DVD is like the pictures you have left of them. Pacey, Joey, Dawson, Meg, Ellen, Samantha, Bruce, Chuck, you will live on forever in my heart.

Summary: Why didn't they offer...
Review: Why didn't they offer two full versions of the finale ending?

the original ending and the D/J one...not something extra to click on but to where you could watch either one all the way through with your chosen ending.

That D/J ending could still be filmed today...in the future of both of them.

Summary: Dawson creek saga
Review: The dvd is clear and crisp. The extended version offered on DVD is great! More footage and more enjoyable, seeing all the characters portrayed are on this last dvd. All original cast memebers are back to say one last goodbye. Story line for the end of series was great.

I enjoyed the series from beginning to end. Cliffhanger lasted all the way to the end. In my own feelings, this series came full circle! A lot of series do not end full circle, I am glad to see the writers did so. If anyone watches Dawsons Creek, I would definitely recommend watching the dvd's version of the end of series. Characters and relationship among these characters were portrayed perfectly towards this video. Brings you to think, friendship, though drama and hardship come along, true friendship never really dies.
