Summary: 1981?
Review: ....well if it were made then then I wouldn't have been able to see it so it might just be a bit more recent than that. Alex Kingston is superb as fiesty, earthy Moll a wily woman-of-the-world who is determined to get a secure and revered place in 19th century London society after having been born in Newgate prison to a convict and then having endured an impoverished an insecure childhood. She brings warmth, charm and a very real sense of tragedy and likeabilty to the part and makes it very much her own. Despite being an opportunist, thief, bigamist (and an incestuous one at that) and liar who abandons all six of her children, you can't help but root for her and follow her journey through life with interest and sympathy. And she gets terrific support from a good cast who certainly get into the spirit of this bawdy romp. It is a bit ITV-ish so there is a sense of brashness and commercialism which spoils it a bit (on the whole it comes across has having an air of tackiness about it) but overall it is good fun and nicely done with some interesting interpretations which fit in surprisingly well.

Based on a true story.

ITV is an independent British television channel.

Summary: Better than Hollywood!!!
Review: ...I respect a non-hollywood film that can be true to itself. Without films like this, we will all end up watching the current trend of "made-for-PG-13" films...I want to watch a film that is not the result of a marketing machine. Please.
I think this is that type of film. Not only is it true to the book, but it is true to itself. I only wish that film making like this was the trend.

Summary: A gripping story of a girl's quest for what she wants
Review: Alex Kingston brings strength and integrity to the role of Moll Flanders. In this adaptation, Moll is seen not only as a character, but as a living, breathing person. As the story progresses, you get to see what's going on inside Moll's head when she turns to the camera and talks directly to the audience. This type of perspective is usally only found in books, and then only the best of books. What a refressing change to be included in the story line and not be just a spectator. As for the story, it's a heart-tearing tale of a girl born in a jail, raised by a mayor as "almost" one of his own. The story line follows with Moll first finding then losing, then finding her fortune. This is one of the greatest versions yet. Thanks, Alex.

Summary: Moll Flanders
Review: Based on the classic book by Daniel Defoe, this adaptation of "Moll Flanders" is quite good. The main character is played by Alex Kingston who is good at her role. The whole cast is good as well...
It's a compelling story, and sometimes funny.Moll even interacts with the viewer! it differs in some ways from the book, but not like the Robin Wright Penn movie version,it's so diferent you don't even recognize! This version-let me forewarn you with you're going to watch with your family!-,has a LOT of sex scenes, and i just thought that they used that a bit too much. But don't get me wrong, this movie is good, and is worth watching...
*** 1/2

Summary: Hello Again!
Review: Hi. I know I've already reviewed, but that was my first very own, public displayed review and I didn't like the way I explained this movie. I really agree with that review where it says, "As the story progresses, you get to see what's going on inside Moll's head." That review was very detailed and the author was probably a top student in writing when he/she was in school. Now... ...I first saw this movie on television in 1996 on PBS.WNED. And most people that know me, all know that I love these kind of movies where they take place back in the 1700's and 1800's. I started to watch this luckily just after Pat Russell finishes his very discriptive (and kind of story spoiling) introduction. I thought that Alex Kingston was very good as Britain's most wanted woman. The other cast acted well too. Moll is a woman who is born in Newgate Prison: a place for the people who don't have any sense to what they're doing. Moll starts out as a poor, stressfull servant girl to shy to stand up for her problems. To a thief in London (in which turns into a gay sort of affair with a female friend!!). Her story involves many different feelings. Moll can make you shed a tear or two (as when her FEMALE FRIEND is hanged). She can make you laugh your head off (like when her 5th husband, Mr John Bland, dies from shock and she takes away the money she lays upon his eyes). She can also make you suspensed (she doesn't hand you a clue about what she is about to do with Mary Edwards, that child that lives on St. Jude's street). Andrew Davies writes a splendid adapation of Daniel Defoe's book. It's close to the book and is very faithful to it. I think it will be a classic in time, like GONE WITH THE WIND (1939) and A NIGHT TO REMEMBER (1940 something). I hope it will be a classic. This is my favorite adapation of this tale and my favorite movie of all time!

Summary: sorry to all of the fans
Review: I didn't find that this movie was all it was said to be. It was not that great and I found that the nudity was COMPLETELY unnessesary. I feel that the directors could have at least covered the people up. Hi Caleb!
