Summary: The film of historic accurancy.
Review: "Escape from Sobibor" is a grim turn inspirational film about the prisoners who, after careful planning, managed to escape from Sobibor. 300 died during the escape whereas the other 300 managed to live during and after the escape. The actors, especially Alan Arkin, Rutger Hauer, and Hartmut Becker, gave memorable & magnificant performances. Becker was telling & excellent in portraying one of the chief SS men in charge of the camp, sargeant Wagner. The actresses, especially Joanna Pacula, also played with upmost effectiveness & familiarity with the history behind Sobibor. The film is historically as accurate as it can be, with scenes so telling of the torture of the prisoners hated due to dangerous & distorted ideologies. The picture, not as masterful as "Schindler's List", is well done nevertheless with artistry & sophistication. The acting measures up to the acting in "Schindler's List." My only hope is that this video recording is not abridged, for the complete film is two hours & thirty minutes. If the video has the complete version of the film, my recommendation exists very strongly. If the abridged version exist, hesitations should occupy your mind. Ask questions.

Summary: That is quite a movie
Review: "It's amazing how they put 3 unknown people(until now) and actually had them portray 3 real people in a movie about a true story that really took place. I thought this movie was not just action packed, but also had a great cast, powerful tone, great ending, and exciting climax. In other words this is one of my all time favorites! I give it 4 stars!

Summary: Reduces a complex historical phenomenon...
Review: ...into simplistic, good vs. evil, TV-movie blandness. Not an intellectual stimulant by any means, it also fails to reedem itself by eliciting any kind of emotional response because of poor quality acting and a TV movie budget. It's not quite so bad as to make it worth watching just to make fun of it, and the topic is far too serious to add any camp factor. As such, I simply cannot find any reason to watch. (In my case, I was half asleep and could not find the remote control to change the channel).

Summary: IT WAS A VERY GOOD BETRAYL OF THE WORL WAR 2 SCENE
Review: ALAN ARKIN WAS A VERY GOOD ACTOR. HE DID THE IMPOSSIBLE TO BREAK BOUNDRIES BETWEEN THE JEWS AND THE GERMANS. WHEN I FIRST SAW THIS COMPELLING MOVIE IT WAS IN MY HISTORY CLASS. IT HAD ME ON THE EDGE OF MY SEAT THE WHOLE TIME. I COULDN'T WAIT TO SEE THE REST AS THE DAYS SURPASSED.OH I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO MY HISTORY TEACHER COACH HALLMARK AT STOCKBRIDGE HIGH SCHOOL AND LAST BUT DEFENTLY NOT LEAST MY FOLK VONN REPRESENTING THE CLASSYNESS THAT ALOT OF THEM GIRLS AT STOCKBRIDGE NEED

Summary: A Chance To Really Feel World War II As A Prisoner.
Review: Apart from VOYAGE OF THE DAMNED and recently SCHINDLER'S LIST. ESCAPE FROM SOBIBOR has a real feel to it! As it is derived from real occurances; there is nothing more revealing and captivating then what one would read from a text book. To really get an insight of Nazi Death Camps, this movie will open your eyes and open your mind. The movie will make you think of the war in a different manner. Never again will doubt enter your mind. These prisoners had nothing to lose! Lose your life just waiting or lose your life trying to be free. Many did manage to escape into the surrounding woods to freedom. A must see for all!!!!

Summary: This is great movie, can be used for education in schools
Review: As a child of one of the survivors of the escape depicted in this film and an attendee at the war crimes trial of one of the surviving german officers, I can tell you that I believe this to be a realistic and accurate portrayal of the actual events. I have spoken with many of survivors and it puts together the pieces I heard growing up. I've seen it many times and always am amazed how it moves me. It has been shown to 1000's of school children (ages 12-18) as part of their education about the Holocaust and my mother has literally hundreds of letters from them telling how they were moved by this film

Summary: Wow it is Amazing
Review: At first I thought that this movie was just going to be a waste of time. I read the book which i also recomend, but this movie follows the exact steps that the book does. It will make you open your eyes and see what cruel acts we have done in our past history. Hopefully we will not make the same mistakes. Well i recommend this to any one who enjous history and wants to learn more.

Review: Based on Richard Rashke's account of the only successful organised Jewish uprising against Nazis from within death-camp barbed wire, "Escape from Sobibor" is an admirable effort adapted for film. Despite its often melodramatic made-for-TV overtones (something cliche'd and rather inappropriate for such a weighty and sombering event in human history), the film captures the painful struggles, defiance against the ugliest of tyranny, and ultimate triumph of the Jewish prisoners over their oppressors. Unlike "Schindler's List," which unfortunately represented its Jewish characters in a one-dimensional and consistently passive light, this film presents us with strong, well-developed characters, from numerous backgrounds and levels of experience, who are justifiably angry and rebellious against the Nazis. The characters are well-acted, with all the passion, heart, spirit, and SOUL it undoubtedly must take to play such demanding and emotionally draining role! s. I recommend this movie fully; it will touch viewers with the spirit of sorrow amid triumph, and vice versa. END
