Date: 2002 Imagine that were a regular, small-town girl, trying to be a mother figure to your wild younger sister. At the same time trying to be a pro surfer in the tough competition that is going off of the beaches in Hawaii. This is the life of Anne-Marie, the main character in the movie, Blue Crush. I really liked this movie a lot. I like it for a few different reasons. The first reason why I liked Blue Crush is because a girl was trying to do what guys mostly do. This is important because all the guys are making fun of her and they do not think that she can do it. Another thing I liked about Blue Crush is that it is a surfing movie. This is because I have always wanted to learn how to surf and it looks really fun from watching this movie. Another reason why I liked this movie is because even know that she is surfing a lot to win she still makes time to take care of her younger sister. I think that shows that she is responsible. The last reason why I like this movie is because at the end she became a pro surfer. This is important because she proved to all the guys that she was going to become a pro surfer.
Again, I really liked Blue Crush a lot. I thought it was a really awesome movie that shows when you really want to do something, all you have to do is work very hard and you will probably get it. I would recommend Blue Crush to everyone, but I think that teenagers would like it the best. This is because younger people I would say they could understand how the people in this movie feel and what they are going through. Blue crush helps you believe that hard work can get you anything.

Review: to receive this DVD that I ordered...the sound affects are SPECTACULAR if you have surround sound in your home. I love the laid back Hawaii feeling when I watch this movie - Kate is just too cute!

Review: "Blue Crush" tells the story of an extremely talented female surfer and her quest to overcome her fear of drowning, being the best female surfer out there, raising her little sister, making rent, and finding love on the beautiful shores of Hawaii. I was neither disappointed, nor enthralled with this movie. What was most interesting were the surfing scenes and learning about a sport I knew nothing about. The overall storyline is okay, but it lacked something. There seemed to be some holes in the plot. We never really understand why Kate Bosworth's character's mother disappeared other than she found a new boyfriend. I know it happens often, but it just seemed far-fetched that her mom just up and left and nothing is really said about it. If you're interested in surfing, watch this movie. If you're a guy who likes to look at women in bikinis, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. All others could probably find something else to watch that will interest them more.

Summary: Delightful Movie
Review: I admit it. I bought this DVD solely to see Michelle Rodriguez in a swimsuit. I had absolutely no knowledge of or interest in surfing. I ended up loving this film. It's a story about friendship, overcoming fear, and triumph. If that sounds like this movie is predictable, I'm telling you now that it isn't. Neither is it a "typical teen romance flick". Yes, there is romance, but it isn't mushy. The actors are great in their roles. A lot of them are local Hawaiian natives who have never acted before, but this is a nice change from an all-star cast, and they do well. The director often allowed the actors to ad-lib their own dialogue and talk over each other. This makes the conversations seem more natural. The surf footage is impressive (hardly any CGI involved), and all of the surfing stunts are real. A lot of real professional surfers make cameo appearances in the movie. The scenery is gorgeous, and there are next-to-zero spots on the picture. The sound is great, too. There are two feature-length audio commentaries. They are invaluable sources of information and entertaining. There are also numerous video documentaries on the film as well as some deleted scenes. Unfortunately, not all of the deleted scenes were included, but, given the amount of footage that they shot, it would have been impossible to include them all. They're not presented in chronological order, but I won't take off a star for that. You don't have to be a surfer or a surf fan to enjoy this movie. The DVD is great and will give you many hours of enjoyment.

Review: I first saw Blue Crush when I was bored and there was little else to see on TV. Boy, after seeing this movie, I got online and ordered the DVD. It was a great movie! While I am not a real fan of chick-flicks, I thought the movie was great - everyone should see this film. The acting was good, the surfing footage was great! Kate Bosworth plays a great character (Ann Marie)who has had some hesitancy to rejoin the competitive surf crowd after a near drowning. Now taking care of her little sister Penny, she has to balance work with surfing - along with being a surrogate mother as well. She is responsible, playful, and well balanced. While on vacation, an NFL quarterback stays at the hotel that Ann marie works at and the magic begins. The director/writers made this new relationship seem more plausable than the normal fantasy lovers of most other movies. Matt Davis plays the football player and he is very supportive of Ann Marie and her goal to win the Ladies PipeMaster competition. Along the way, he learns to surf and enjoy a great vacation in Hawaii. Ann Marie does not win, but she wins in ways that are far more valuable. She overcomes her fears, she has the love and support of her friends and sister, along with the respect of her new NFL guy.... The movie tells us about struggles in life and that if we want something badly enough, we simply must take risks and pursue what brings us happiness. Along the way, we sometimes can find unexpected things that enrich our lives without even knowing they existed.

Review: The above named movie I am to critique "Blue Crush" directed by John Stockwell. "Blue Crush" was produced in a Universal studio in 2002. The stars in "Blue Crush" are Kate Boswell, Michelle Rodriguez, and Matthew Davis.
"Blue Crush" took place one the beaches of Maui, Hawaii in modern day time. The star Ann Marie, played by Kate Boswell, is a young women tring to succeed in the surfing world, and raise her younger sister by herself. Ann Marie and her two friends work in a fancy hotel to make money to pay the bills and put her sister through school. After Ann Marie and her friends are fired from there job, the meet a pro football player that was staying in the hotel. The pro football player, played by Matthew Davis, wants to learn how to surf and offers to pay the girls $150 a day for lessons. Ann Marie soon falls in love with him and begins to drift away from the pipe compition. All of Ann Marie's friends believe in her but she has a fear, due to the near drowning incident that happened three years earlier at this same location. If Ann Marie could pull off the compition she could gain exposure to the pro surf world, and make enough money to pay for her little sisters college. During the competition she begins to lose her train of thought until her boyfriend arrives.
"Blue Crush" is a Drama/Romantic Comedey in a Color production. A sound track by Lenny Kravitz has DTS surround sound 5.1 in English.
I rated this film a 3. I based my rating on the fact the movie didn't have much momentum until the final scene at the pipe competition.

Summary: i love the movie Blue Crush
Review: Okay well i am 14 but felt like using the kids way cause it was much easier, haha. Anyway i love Blue Crush. I watch it all the time. The plot is awesome! This summer i am going to learn how to surf because the movie made it look like so much fun! I also am in love with the Eden boards and some of there clothing that isn't just in ordinary surf shops. This is one of my favorite movies, but i have seen some of your others and i like those too. Keep up the good work... i can't wait to see your next movie!

Review: Blue Crush (2002) Kate Boswell, Matthew Davis, Michelle Rodiguez, Sanoe Lake, Mika Boorem, Chris Taloa, Kala Alexander, Ruben Tejada, D: John Stockwell. Susan Orlean's magazine article, Surf Girls of Maui is stretched into a feature-length chick flick that does catch some credibility from the girls' blue-collar jobs as hotel maids and their bonding. Hard-hitting surfer Boswell bunks with her fourteen-year-old sister and childhood buddies (Rodriguez, Lake) in an island shack and being the best of the three, she takes a risk by entering a contest among the hotshots to surf the world's biggest wave, the Pike Master, with the danger of colliding against the reef; Davis plays her NFL-football crush whom she gives surfing lessons and could affect her chances to win. Remains conventional and equivalent to any teen movie with not enough substance to last longer than its article basis. Not a total wipeout from good wave footage filmed in Oahu, Hawaii. Running Time: 104 minutes and rated PG-13 for sexual content, teen partying, language, and a fight.

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I thought this film would have alot more surfing than it did. I mean, it did have surfing, of course, the entire plot was centered around surfing, I just figured it would ONLY be about surfing. Thinking back, I realize that probably would have made for a pretty boring and repetative two hours. This film was pretty good I suppose, but not something I would see again. The plot wasn't bad, but it seemed just a little strange to me. It seemed odd that Anne Marie (the main character) was invited to compete in Pipeline when she didn't seem to be a very good surfer. Also, if getting a surfing sponsorship and winning Pipeline had been a dream of hers for so long, why would she let a guy she just met stand in her way? The end was a bit too far-fetched for me as well, but that was expected. Anyway, if you're looking for a real "girl power" movie, this probably isn't it. Seriously, 'Charlie's Angels' or 'Lara Croft - Tomb Raider' would be better choices for that. If you're looking for soemthing that's just plain surfing, you might want to check out some sort of documentary or something. If you're bored and just want something to watch, I would probably recommend renting this film, not buying it though.

Summary: You Go Girl......
Review: An attractive cast, led by the charming Miss Bosworth, does the best they can with the dopey old "poor girl striving to become a star" storyline that has been a staple of the movies from the silent era through A Star Is Born, Flashdance, etc.; and reappears in some form or another just about every summer. So what? This one is done with a sense of fun and is ably boosted by the terrific surfing footage shot over, under, around and through the big waves of Hawaii. Beautiful girls, handsome guys, gorgeous Hawiian beaches and terrific surfing. Summer entertainment to my mind, done very well. 3-1/2 stars.
