Summary: Not as good as the critics are saying.
Review: Still pretty good. A bit overhyped, but good. Tobey Maguire is a very talented actor, so I think he'll have a future. See the movie if you like films based on true stories.

Summary: Simply the Best!
Review: One the best movies Hollywood has produced in years. We need more movies about real winners in life and less about the losers. I think the whole cast did a wonderful job portraying their respective roles, very believable. I was completely drawn into the storyline, and found myself cheering in the end. Great movie Hollywood!

Summary: Unbelievable Story, Unforgettable Film!
Review: Seabiscuit was the best sports movie that I have seen in a long, long time. The story is about a group of underdogs in the Depression who came out of nowhere and beat the odds to win. This movie had everything you would want, with great acting by Bridges (the owner), Cooper (the trainer), Maguire (as jockey Red Pollard), and Bill Macy (as the hilarious racetrack announcer). The awesome racing scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat and are a nice compliment to the great screenplay. I guarantee you'll have tears in your eyes by the end of this remarkable, emotional drama about an undersized racehorse who made history.

Summary: Best Movie and Book in XXX Years
Review: SEABISCUIT, AN AMERICAN LEGEND by Laura Hillenbrand, is the best book I have read in many years. And the movie with Jeff Bridges captures the essence of the book. I have seen the movie now twice and would go to see it again; and I am awaiting the release of either a VHS tape or DVD. Not only is this a true story of a horse's accomplishment in the racing arena, it highlights the relationship between the horse, the trainer, the jockey and the owner. During the time of the Great Depression in America, the accomplishments of this team captures the heart of the many "little" men and women of America and gives them hope in a time of great despair. Laura Hillenbrand has blessed us with a memorable writing.

Summary: A Front Runner
Review: Sea Biscuit is definitely a memorable movie. Its so much more than just a movie about a horse. It shows how horse racing fits in with the changes over time. In addition, the movie depicted the relationships between the horse and the trainer, jockeys, and owner. Many serious moments but plenty of good humor. I loved it when they tried to give Sea Biscuit a goat as a companion and one minute later you hear a loud whinny and the goat is flying out of the stable. When owner, Jeff Bridges finally brings along another hrose, the scene is oh so memorable especially when the barnyard dog is hanging out with the lovestruck horses.

Anyway, Jeff Bridges fits in very well as the owner as he comes across both charming and prominent. However, Bill Macy steals the show as the racetrack announcer with his soap opera like antics.

A little long at 2 1/2 hours. The middle part can drag just a little. However, the overall impression is definitely a good one.

Summary: Awesome movie!
Review: This is the best movie I've seen all year! Great acting and picture. Had me on the edge of my seat with suspense. I love horses but even a person who doesn't like horses would love this movie! This is a must see!

Summary: Each life is very special if you put love and attention to
Review: If you like to read the books with the long story and some narration - this is the movie for you. So many good actors came to tell the story and the film has some very convincing and touching moments in it that holds you on the verge of tears.
I found the film a little bit long but interesting because it was so many dramatic turns to the worse and got better again. I am the true believer that you can improve your life and someone's life but it cost you an efforts and a lot of patience with the loving tenderness... I recommend the movie because I like the stories that have the humanity and romantic optimism, it does not matter how cheesy it looks.......

Summary: A Triple Crown Winner
Review: Writer/director Gary Ross has made a triumphant film out of Laura Hillenbrand's beloved bestseller. Like the original author, Ross gathers the strands of his story slowly, showing how the lives of three initially unrelated people - an owner, a trainer and a jockey - converge at a single point, the racehorse phenomenon known as Seabiscuit.

Both Hillenbrand and Ross have conceived of Seabiscuit as a metaphor for his time, a beacon of hope and inspiration for a despairing, Depression-ravaged nation. He is certainly that and more for the three troubled men whose lives he touches, providing each with the opportunity to overcome immense odds, achieve some form of redemption, and put some meaning back into his life.

Given its "inspirational" subject matter, "Seabiscuit" could easily have dissolved into little more than a sappy "feel-good" movie. Luckily for us, the low-keyed approach Ross has taken towards the material purges it of sentimentality. The movie is upbeat and heartwarming, yet we rarely feel as if the film is pushing our buttons in any obviously manipulative way. Much of the credit goes to Jeff Bridges, Chris Cooper and Tobey Maguire, three superb actors who know how to underplay their parts to achieve maximum effect. William H. Macy provides a wonderful comic turn as the hilariously overwrought and corny racetrack announcer who reflects the gee-whiz tone of a nation captivated by this amazing animal.

Visually, the film is superb, thanks to John Schwarztman's lovely cinematography, which imbues the bucolic 1930's setting with a kind of nostalgic glow, as well as to the handsome art direction and costume design that perfectly capture the look of the era. The horserace sequences have been masterfully staged and edited and rank with the best ever put on film.

"Seabiscuit," clearly one of the best mainstream movies of 2003, is a true first place finisher.
