Rating: Summary: Hard To Top! Review: Even though this was the first gay interest movies I have seen, I know that it will be a hard one to beat. The story line will slowly draw you in, and just make you feel the love in your heart. The love between the two young men is something I will only dream of finding.
Rating: Summary: Lilies Review: Well acted story of how the green eyed monster of jelousy can cause such grief and heartache, and how one lie destoys the life of two people in love. It's a story that will keep you rivited as they flash back and forth to when the main characters were young and to the telling of the story
Rating: Summary: Entrancing and wonderful! Review: Lilies is an astonishing, emotional, and surprising story of two gay men's intertwined lives. The director has artfully woven scenes from the past (1912) into the present (1952). Suprisingly, characters from the present who are unrelated to the story of the past are used to portray the characters in the flashback scenes. The two men's lives are irrevocably changed by the events of the past. Forty years of anger cause one of the men to exact revenge upon the other. The form of revenge, however, is far from typical. It is an emotional, rather than physical, assault upon the antagonist. Lilies could be categorized as a tragedy. In the end, however, it is also a life-affirming film that will take you for an unforgettable journey.
Rating: Summary: Review Review: I saw this when it was out in the theaters. The drama was the most riveting I've felt in years. It has the feel of a community theater play, which is very unique for a film. Assuming it wasn't edited out, the film is definitely worth every minute of the nude bathtub lovemaking between the two young men! I couldn't believe my eyes!
Rating: Summary: Incredible Movie! Review: One of the best movies I've seen in years. The acting is great, the scenery stunning. If you're tired of cookie cutter movie plots, give this a try.
Rating: Summary: Amazing as story and art Review: We watched this movie with joy and astonishment. Rarely have we seen a piece of work combining story, flashbacks and choreography so synergetically. 5 *'s well deserved. Watch it !
Rating: Summary: This is a movie? Review: This is just about the worst film I have ever watched. The opening scenes were so slowly paced, it was as if the director was attempting to fill space on the DVD. As to the performances? I've seen better acting from kids in middle schools. The actors delivered their lines as if they didn't listen to one another. Flat, boring delivery from almost everyone in the cast, or else they were way over the top and totally unbelievable. The story line did have some promise, but the finished product failed to deliver. There have been some wonderful films introduced during the Gay and Lesbian film festivals, but this sure didn't ring any bells for me.
Rating: Summary: A masterfully woven tale Review: Lilies is without a doubt one of the best movies that weaves the past and present with creative cinematography. Even when the flashback scenes are being performed in the present, you feel the presence of the past. Definately destined to become a classic.
Rating: Summary: Magical, lyrical Review: This amazingly emotional film is beutiful to watch unfold. The cast as a whole puts out a wonderful effort and the story is gripping and tense throughout. This film will not disappoint the lover of film as an art form.
Rating: Summary: i have found divination Review: Take the essences of performance, cinematography, poetic prose, and golden skin, gracefully lash them together and you get the brilliance of "Lilies." It is poignant, ironic, inspiring, and thought-provoking. Each of the characters shine in their own element especially Simon, the beauteous anti-hero and Vallier, the honest son. Rich in innovations, including a stage-play flashback and the 'Shakespearian' practice of casting all female roles with men, this movie seeks to challenge hypocrisy on a hundred different levels.
