Summary: The story's main message, "Love God"
Review: Very inspiring - The movie and the book are different but in special way's. It is as if the director was trying to add more to the movie than just the one book has in it's story. The director did keep some details out, to make it less confusing and not hurt anybody.

Not having read the books first, is of no matter. I purchased the movie purly on the talented actors involved, and was plesantly suprised. I was very glad I made the purchase. It made me want to read the book. While searching for the book I found that this was a whole series. Written by a gifted writer Joseph Girzone. His fresh new Ideas have brought me closer to the lord.

This is a hopeful, joyous movie, book, series!

Summary: An excellant film that deserved more exposure
Review: I fully support the new Christian films making a run into the mainstream Hollywood market. It's a great way to reach out to people and 'Joshua' had such a deep and moving story. The actors/actresses were extremely great and the writing/story was very good. This film should have done so much better; but like many independent films lack the budget up front. Hopefully films such at this and others will continue to get better and better..so far we're having a great start.

Summary: The book is always better.
Review: First, let me say that I've read "Joshua" at least 4 times, that's how much I love that story. When I found out that it was being made into a movie, I couldn't wait to see it. Unfortunately, it has yet to play in my area, so when I learned that it was out on VHS/DVD, I ordered it immediatly. I hoped that it would be very close to the book, unfortunately, it is not. For example, Father Pat, one of the main supporting characters, was portrayed as a bafoon; he is definately not so in the book. Major parts of the story have been totally left out. Other major parts de-emphasized. Still other parts never even appeared in the book. However, I will have to admit that the spirit of the story is still there. Fankly, if I had seen it first in a theater, I would not have bought the DVD. Buy the book, rent the movie.

Summary: Joshua is a special movie.
Review: In the Joshua series of books and now the movie author Joe Girzone in simple terms presents some profound thoughts. Principally that the Secret of Life is "not how much wealth we each accumulate over our lifetime but how we each use the unique skills and talents that God has given us to help others along the way". The Joshua movie with the help of a terrific cast shows us in an entertaining way the importance of using "love" instead of "hate" in our daily lives.

This movie is a must-see for people of all ages in particularly for the youth of today some of whom could use help as far as establishing values and using role models. If you know a child that is taking any type of religious instruction, the Joshua movie would be a perfect gift.

The DVD also contains cast interviews and background that put a personal touch on the special theme of this movie.

Summary: A beatiful movie
Review: This movie is truly uplifting and just makes you wanna cry, sing, and hug the person next to you! It reminds us of the love our Lord has for us! Perfect for all family and even non-Christian friends. I always tried to figure out what my favorite movie in the whole world was until I saw this movie...and now I know!!

Summary: Touching, inspiring and just beautiful
Review: After thoroughly enjoying the book, I couldn't wait to see the movie. The movie was just as good, if not better, than the book. The character of Joshua was a great example of what Christ might be like if he were alive today. The movie had a simple message and a simple story line. Those hoping for the action of a Star Wars or Matrix will be disappointed. Those looking for an enjoyable movie that will leave you with the warm feeling of God's love inside will love it. Catholics, Protestants, and other Christian faiths should all enjoy it.

Summary: Wonderful, beautiful, faithful
Review: I had to get out of my "English teacher" mode while reading the book first and realize that Christ's beauty comes in a plethora of forms. And then came the film! Some may say the story is simple---so is Jesus' (Joshua's) message. Case in point: Joshua refers to the Bible as "a love letter from God!" Others may criticize the dramatic changes in the citizens of Auburn---but that is what happens when one is confronted with the ultimate power of the Savior. Add to that some truly fine acting (particularly that of Tony Goldwyn and the actor portraying Father Pat) and you have a film good for and relevant to anyone. Please see it. You will be forever renewed! (PS: for details about the plot, see other fine reviews on this site)

Summary: A Light in the Darkness
Review: I read the book and loved it and this movie does the book justice. My teenagers loved the movie too. It reminded me of how much God loves us and how we can love one another. I hope that this movie is a great success and that many more like it are made.

Summary: A message of hope!
Review: This movie is for everyone! It is a movie that will give us hope in humanity and hope in our lives. I was able to attend a screening, and I can't wait for it to come out so I can see it again. Tony Goldwyn is amazing. I would have never, ever believed a human could do the character he plays justice. This movie is a tremendous example of how we can walk the walk and not just talk the talk. I can't recommend it enough!

Summary: Great Family Fun!
Review: Joshua is an extremely entertaining movie about a strange man who shows up in a small town. He starts to help people. He then preforms a few miricales. A preist in the town thinks he is a false prophet, so he makes Jousha see the pope. You'll have to see the movie to find out what happens next!
