Rating: Summary: Gods Love Review: People who are labeling this movie as bad because it doesn't stricly follow biblical teachings I think miss the point. I saw the basic plot of the movie to be so simple and not complex at all, which is the way I see the Bible also. God loves us. End of story. If the Bible were written in one sentence, that I think would be the basic idea. Some may consider this blasphemy and for that I appologize since its not my intent. Yes the Bible contains laws and order, but it also contains a lot of messages of love. If we remember one thing, I think thats important because whether your a Christian or not, that is a message the world needs to learn. Love your neighbor. As many have, I have had situations in my life which led me to the Bible. During my studies I found time and again a book from a father telling his children rules not because he is mean or just because he can set rules, but that he knows these rules will help us live a happier life and if we don't follow the rules we will probably get hurt. I didnt see the movie as pro any specific religion, and yes the Catholic and Baptist denominations are different in many ways. I am a Baptist, and I have studied catholisism and other religions because I wanted to know what and why others believe what they do. In the end all Christian religions teach one thing I hope. Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins and was resurrected. Are we all that different? Unfortunately the answer is probably yes. In the movie Joshua rebuilt the Baptist church, visited the Pope in Rome. I think this is saying we are all brothers and Christ and need to start acting like it. Dont just preach the Bible, live it. If I offend anyone Im sorry. Obviously Im not a good writer and definaly not a preacher, just someone trying my hardest in the world to live a good life. I fail many times, but I will never stop trying because I know Jesus will always be one step behind me to pick me up again and point my back down the correct path.
Rating: Summary: Surprizing that such a movie could come out of Hollywood Review: Joshua is not a very complex movie but somehow is a very powerful movie. I can't help but think that perhaps God blessed the author's film rendation of his work (Can God bless works of film?). Without exception, every 'Christian' movie concerning Christ has fallen flat in many regards. Joshua does not fall flat. In fact, as the movie progresses, it really pulls you in. The message that Joshua leaves in the very end of the movie, and the way that message is portrayed, is simply powerful - overwhelmingly so (for me). I rented the movie because its set in the author's hometown of Auburn, NY which is just up the road from me. I wasn't expecting what I got - a transforming and inspirational experience. So, anyway - yes - good movie.

Rating: Summary: JOSHUA Shines! Review: I found this movie by accident. The main titles were out and I was just browsing. The cover looked interesting so I thought I'd give it a try. What a wonderful choice! This movie highlights everything lovely and decent and leaves you with a "feel good" emotional high. This is definitely a must-see story for everyone regardless of your political, racial, gender, or age categories. It is awesome and I wish more people could hear about it and have the opportunity to experience it! It reinforces the belief that the world can be a better place and we all need that, now more than ever.
Rating: Summary: Best Family DVD Everyone Can Enjoy Review: One of the best DVD's I have rented and then purchased in a long time. I love it and have made several people watch it because I think it is the type of movie society needs more now than ever. I even purchased the book and normally you either like the movie or the book but I am encouraging everyone to read the book also. It is different than the movie but just as wonderful.
Rating: Summary: See love expressed!!!! Review: Beautiful dramatization of a modern-day visit from our Savior. No blasphemy, just pure love. My family & I watch it over & over & over & recommend it to others. Enjoy!!
Rating: Summary: Very powerful message in this movie Review: This movie is a movie about GOD. It also tells how the ego is always in the way of a mans mind. Joshua was humble and very powerful. It really showed the world how priest act.
Rating: Summary: Hope still prevails........ Review: I read some of the reviews on this "Great" movie. And I have to say that some people are so consumed on dissecting life that they forget to sit back and listen to the message that is unfolding in front of them. I found inspiration in this movie, especially with what we are dealing with in these days and times. We should all open our hearts a little more often and maybe life would be a little kinder.......
Rating: Summary: Excellent film, Exellent message Review: This is an excellent film and inspired. You will leave this movie feeling fantastic if you accept it for the message it sends and the spirit it is made in. Tears are not uncommon, but these are tears of joy and a feeling of hope. Each will find what they need to in this film, if they leave themselves open to it. " Seek and ye shall find" WOW!!!!!
Rating: Summary: shallow and offensive Review: I heard this was a Christian movie, so I was interested. But when the film was over, I was angry and offended. Joshua, who is supposed to be Jesus Christ in modern-day America, is a meek and shallow good guy who likes Christian rock, making crafts, and the Baptist church. And he doesn't appear to be Jewish. Apparently our Lord and Savior, the creator of the universe, would like to come back and set the Pope straight and tell people their cooking [is bad]. He'd be a mysterious hunk who asks people to work on building projects, but doesn't really call people to worship and obey him. This movie merely makes a parody of the Christian sub-culture in America. Would Jesus, who died by crucifixion, and his apostles, who suffered persecution and martyrdom for their faith, really think of Christianity as doing safe, comfortable, fun things?
