Summary: Correction about Animation Method
Review: I am most pleased that the reviews have been positive but "Miracle Maker", DID NOT use Clay Animation. I work in the special effects field. Miracle Maker used miniature puppets with foam rubber skins that were about 12 inches tall and had miniature steel jointed skeletons, that allowed the animator to pose and incremently move the puppets, one film frame at a time. The puppets are similar to the size of small dolls (like GI Joe or Barbie). The PUPPET animation technique is the same method used in the old classic, King Kong movie and the more well know (& more recent), The Nightmare Before Christmas movie.

Summary: Wonderful animation and retelling of the life of Jesus
Review: I bought this film after seeing the end of it on ABC one Easter Sunday. I must say it is one of my favorite films and brings me to tears on many occasion. The animation is superb, blending claymation and drawn animation to tell a wonderful story. I also liked the portrayal of the characters with tanned skin, although the British accents were funny and off putting at times, especially their casting of Peter as an Irishman always about to blow his top. Yet, I loved the complexity of the characters, especially Judas and the way they set the story in the historical and political situation of the times. It tries to portray some of the possible motivations for people following Jesus or rejecting him, reasons that are political, spiritual and sometimes class based. This brings the Bible to life for young people as well as old. I'd recommend it to anyone.

Summary: Imagainative and fresh, yet faithful and reverent
Review: I can't believe the Amazon reviewer found this joyless -- I found it wonderful, with both joy and pain at the appropriate parts. I love it when Jesus tells the fishermen to push their boat out and Peter rolls his eyes -- a marvelous little touch, and a symbol of just how good this clay animation is. The movie shifts to traditional "cel" animation whenever we are hearing something second-hand -- for example, Jesus' parables -- or to dramatize fears or temptations. Fiennes' authoritative reading as Jesus' may be too sharp for those who like a milquetoast Jesus, but it's very much in keeping with the Biblical account.

The use of Jairus' daughter as the viewpoint character, and the convenient use of Jairus as one of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, are the closest the movie gets to creative license -- and even here, there's nothing that out-and-out conflicts with the Biblical account. The use of Jairus' daughter is a wonderful way to bring children into the story.

Summary: Astonishing!
Review: I don't write reviews very often, but this dvd is really worth the effort. You have kids and would like them to catch how great Jesus is, what He did and said, you need this movie!
It's interesting for parents too, for you will be needed there to explain a few stuff and, beleive you-me, you will learn too.
Buy it and let us know about it...

Summary: A Real Treasure
Review: I find this to be the second best film on the life of Jesus that has been made (the first is the incredibly moving "Jesus of Nazareth"/1977). Not only did I find the animation almost life-like, but it was completely accurate. Sadly, alot of Hollywood's versions can not say this. Because so much is left out of the bible about Jesus' everyday life (from 12-30), a lot of movie-makers feel the need to improvise. This one took from the Scriptures and blended a beautiful and fitting movie about the Son of God, even down to the crucifixion. I would highly recommend this movie over many of the other efforts made.

Summary: Brilliant and inspiring
Review: I first saw this puppet animation technique in a BBC production called 'Ruth' from the 'TESTAMENT' series, and was very impressed with the overall quality.
'The Miracle Maker' is no Hollywood production, but in fact was made in Russia. They have surpassed themselves in using this very difficult medium to tell the life of Jesus. I was particularly impressed with the sets they made of Palestine in the first century A.D., to me, it was more real than real! Other reviewers have given it 5 stars, and I agree, it should be an essential video or DVD to have in a Christian home. May this production be a blessing to all who view it.

Summary: I loved the movie it was great
Review: I got this movie to watch with my kids and found myself so engrossed in it, I am a member of the Church Of Christ and we baptize and I was so happy for once to see the emersion in a film. This movie was the closest thing I have seen to the Bible in a long time. I laughed with Jesus, I cried with Jesus, I felt Jesus pain when the people mocked him. It showed the pain he went through, and the betrayals. My whole family cried when he was crucified, I think we all need to see this and come to realize how much he truly loves us.

Summary: "Unless you become as little children..." Matt 18:3
Review: I have been a Christian for nearly 20 years and have studied the scriptures thoroughly. It was with great delight that I watched this claymation. I affirm what the other reviewers have written and would add that it is rare to find such an endearing and therefore, what I consider, accurate portrayal of our Lord. I just happened upon watching it and was so drawn in I did not consider it a children's movie until reading the listing in the newspaper to find the title. It would do the Christian world well to adapt this child-like perspective of Jesus and I therefore recommend it to all audiences.

Summary: There May Be No Better Movie of the Greatest Story
Review: I have seen a LOT of movies based on the gospels, and was not expecting to be so touched by one that was done with puppets. There's something about the animations, vocal performances, music, and selections that makes the characters, including our Lord, seem more like real people than in other versions. I don't understand it; but it's remarkable. My kids loved it, too. This is the movie version of the gospel that I sent to all my nieces and nephews.

Summary: Awesome; very powerful; a must have
Review: I have seen many different videos betraying the life of Jesus and this claymation by far surpasses them all. The Miracle Maker not only showed the deity of Jesus, but also revealed the humanity of Jesus through His dealings with the command people. I found myself identifying with many of the disciples' struggles as they dealt with Jesus. My heart was moved as I saw the attention to detail towards the Bible. I believe this video will become a very powerful tool used by young and old to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
