Rating: Summary: Great For Catholic Schools Review: The Miracle Maker is a fantastic video for school age children inparticular the lower grade levels. My children were so attentive and interested in this video! I would suggest that Catholic School teachers purchase this video it beautifully depicts the story of Jesus in such a creative way.
Rating: Summary: As it is written there are none righteous, no not one. Review: There was a part in this movie when one of the disciples asked Jesus what a person must do to be saved. If I remember right Jesus answered to believe in Him and to love thier neighbor. This is not Biblical. Yes the Bible says to love your neighbor, but that is not what will save you. Only faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross can save you and ensure eternal life.
Rating: Summary: Good Start--But Review: It's a reverant interpretation of the story of Jesus and it started out good. The puppet animation was cool, nicely done and I thought it was an original way in which to tell the story of Christ. But why the shift to the cartoon sequences? That ruined it for me. It seemed like they ran out of time or money and went for the [inexpensive] approach. I was really disappointed. Kids might like it.
Rating: Summary: I am thankful for this wonderful blessing! Review: The Miracle Maker - The Story of Jesus is well crafted and is entitled to many industry awards. It has edified me. No, it has changed me! I believe God has made me the recipient of this and several other recent blessings I am forever thankful of. I can share this video and so much more of my life now to people whom I have needed and who have needed me.
Rating: Summary: Imagainative and fresh, yet faithful and reverent Review: I can't believe the Amazon reviewer found this joyless -- I found it wonderful, with both joy and pain at the appropriate parts. I love it when Jesus tells the fishermen to push their boat out and Peter rolls his eyes -- a marvelous little touch, and a symbol of just how good this clay animation is. The movie shifts to traditional "cel" animation whenever we are hearing something second-hand -- for example, Jesus' parables -- or to dramatize fears or temptations. Fiennes' authoritative reading as Jesus' may be too sharp for those who like a milquetoast Jesus, but it's very much in keeping with the Biblical account. The use of Jairus' daughter as the viewpoint character, and the convenient use of Jairus as one of the disciples on the road to Emmaus, are the closest the movie gets to creative license -- and even here, there's nothing that out-and-out conflicts with the Biblical account. The use of Jairus' daughter is a wonderful way to bring children into the story.
Rating: Summary: EXTRAORDINARY! A refreshing accurate story in claymation. Review: The Miracle Maker is in one word EXTRAORDINARY! For those of you tired of Hollywood and others mocking, humilating, and exagerrating the truth of the Biblical account of Jesus life, then you will be most blessed by this work in claymation. The accuracy to the truth and beautiful art production are first rate. Children will be delighted in the uniqueness of the presentation. Any true Christian will sense the presence of God in this work. Enjoy it over and over again!
Rating: Summary: One of the best life of Christ films Review: Some viewers have called this a "claymation" film, it is not. The characters in this wonderful film are foam and plastic stop motion puppets. There is a vast difference in the somewhat crude and clumsy claymation characters and these refined and detailed figures. One of the reasons this film works so wonderfully is that since they are puppets, the viewer is able to accept them as the characters much easier than having Christ done by a human actor. The viewer doesn't have the persona of the actor constantly in the back of his or her mind. Also these figures are really true to the actual racial types than actors in make up and wigs can be. The stop motion animation is wonderfully fluid and realistic. This is a "Family" film, but that should not put off an adult viewer. The 2 and 3 D animation makes this a wonderfully moving telling of the age old story of Christ. Using 2D animation for the parables and flash backs is a stroke of genius in keeping them in a different perspective than the "actual" story. This is a brilliantly done recreation of one of the greatest stories ever told (in fact it is much better than the over blown film using that phrase as a title - no Hollywood "names" to distract from the story in this version). No adult should be put off because it is done with "puppets" and animation. It is a beautiful, serious and wonderful telling of the story of Christ.
Rating: Summary: A Real Treasure Review: I find this to be the second best film on the life of Jesus that has been made (the first is the incredibly moving "Jesus of Nazareth"/1977). Not only did I find the animation almost life-like, but it was completely accurate. Sadly, alot of Hollywood's versions can not say this. Because so much is left out of the bible about Jesus' everyday life (from 12-30), a lot of movie-makers feel the need to improvise. This one took from the Scriptures and blended a beautiful and fitting movie about the Son of God, even down to the crucifixion. I would highly recommend this movie over many of the other efforts made.
Rating: Summary: I loved the movie it was great Review: I got this movie to watch with my kids and found myself so engrossed in it, I am a member of the Church Of Christ and we baptize and I was so happy for once to see the emersion in a film. This movie was the closest thing I have seen to the Bible in a long time. I laughed with Jesus, I cried with Jesus, I felt Jesus pain when the people mocked him. It showed the pain he went through, and the betrayals. My whole family cried when he was crucified, I think we all need to see this and come to realize how much he truly loves us.
Rating: Summary: Correction about Animation Method Review: I am most pleased that the reviews have been positive but "Miracle Maker", DID NOT use Clay Animation. I work in the special effects field. Miracle Maker used miniature puppets with foam rubber skins that were about 12 inches tall and had miniature steel jointed skeletons, that allowed the animator to pose and incremently move the puppets, one film frame at a time. The puppets are similar to the size of small dolls (like GI Joe or Barbie). The PUPPET animation technique is the same method used in the old classic, King Kong movie and the more well know (& more recent), The Nightmare Before Christmas movie.
