Summary: The Mission is a tale of the struggle for freedom.
Review: The Mission, yet another movie from the wonderful screenwriter Robert Bolt (A Man For All Seasons), is an inspiring tale of the struggle for freedom. The various characters in the movie all attempt to find happiness within themselves. Rodrigo, for example, wants to be free of his guilt. Father Gabriel was to be free of violence, and the natives just want to be free. This film is an excellent depiction of what South America was like as the Europeans invaded in the 18th century. You will feel the characters pain while cheering the "good guys" and booing the "bad guys." Happy viewing.

Summary: A WELL ACTED FILM!
Review: I thought this film showed a lot of different aspects of people. It showed how one man lived his life in violence and then turned to the Jesuits and committed his life to them. He fought for what he followed. Very well acted! Kept my interest throughout the whole movie.

Summary: Robert Bolt Strikes Again!
Review: Okay, DawsonPacy is back again to review another video dealing with the issue of morality. Last time I commented on my morality teachers ability to brain wash us into focusing on the pure genius of Robert Bolt movies. (i.e.: A Man For All Seasons.) This time, I give you proof! "Robert Bolt, the screenwriter for The Mission, was famous for his wonderful movie A Man For All Seasons, certainly the best film ever made..." I rest my case. Anyway, on to the topic at hand. I enjoyed this movie. It demonstrated a lot of issues that can be applied to our every day lives. Plus, it had some really good acting it in by some really gifted actors such as Robert DeNiro, Jeremy Irons and Liam Neison. I was really surprised at the great lengths the soldiers went to to put an end to the spread of Christianity among the natives. Overall it was a good movie with a good moral theme.

Summary: A fantastic piece that shows human character
Review: I thought this movie was extremely well done. It showed how one man can change after a devistating tragedy. Rodrigo killed his brother in a raged filled duel and regreted it had ever happened. To repent for his wrong doings he became a jesuit to help those who he once hunted, the indians. Its a classic battle of good and evil, and it shows how peoples moral differ in so many ways.

Summary: "The Mission" is a masterful and spirtual work of art!"
Review: the character Rodrigo plays a great example for self redemption. Although he was in an immoral way, he later faced the truth and went to a Jesuit life. He couldn't allow his sins to overcome him and the only people who cold take away his sins were those he sinned upon. The movie was very symbolic and inspirational.

Summary: A greta movie!!!
Review: A truly inspiring movie. It shows how one man can stick by his people even though they are not his people in reality. How much one person can care for another. Also, it showed tremendous dedication to God.

Summary: A tremendous depiction of 17th century Spanish conquest!!!
Review: This movie creativly shows how one man changed his life around. It shows us how people can be extremely cruel and disrespctful to society. It also shows us the energy of the youth and their ability to forgive. Everyone should go rent this movie!

Summary: Cinematic triumph!
Review: This film is worth sitting through just to see the spectacular cinematography and to hear the breathtaking musical score. However, it is far more than that. A powerful story about a Jesuit priest who has the courage to show solidarity with a poor, native tribe in South America, despite the militant attempts by his fellow Europeans to enslave the natives. Stunning performances by Jeremy Irons and Robert DeNiro. A tribute to Christian missionaries everywhere, who work powerfully to spread the love of Christ around the world.

Summary: Very few movies as good as this one.
Review: Excellent scenery, beautifull music. This movie shows a perfect balance of will and faith. The message stays with you. Whenever there is an opportunity, I give this movie as a present.

Summary: A Movie That Goes Right For The Soul!
Review: When I first saw the movie, I thought that it would be great, but it ended up more than great. I think that Siskel and Ebert should have given it 2 thumbs up because this movie was one of the best I had ever seen until I saw Lawrence of Arabia. Still, The Mission is one of my most favorite movies of all time!
