Summary: Good movie but better read a book
Review: The movie lost the EXACT plot of original novel dealing with anti-war and anti-Western colonialism.Kip exposed his angry when Hiroshima was bombed and he blamed so-called civilized nations for doing the same silly thing in war. Then Almasy took his life ,not for Katharine, but for reason that cruel and deceptive world not worth living for.You find this scene in movie? No.And never.Read the book if you want to appreciate real value of classic literature.Maybe you'll come back here and delete rating-stars.

Summary: Characters unclearly defined & a waste of talent of Fiennes
Review: I understand that the book was worthreading because of the "poetry" in the method of writing. However, the film seemed chopped up, and the many characters lacked careful defining. Although beautifully shot some scenes seemed to be thrown IN or OUT without reason. However, the worst error was the decision to literally mask Ralph Fiennes face with make-up when he appeared as the burned patient. It would have been possible to let the facial scaring be to one side of the face so that we could see the emotions and better hear this talented method actor. I believe, had this been done, the Academy award would have been his!

Summary: THIS MOVIE SUCKED
Review: THIS HAD TO BE THE WORST MOVIE OF ALL TIME. iT WAS UNBAREBLY SLOW AND BORING AND HAD NO REAL SUSPENSE SO IN SIMPLER TERMS IT SUCKED.

Summary: one of my all-time favorites!!
Review: This is a movie that requires a bit of patient to feel the full impact. Not until the end does everything come together for an awesome epic. Unfortunately, many people can't get pass the initial slow opening. Definitely one of those movies that gets better with repeat viewing. Simply a beautifully acted and filmed movie. And Ralph Fiennes is ultra fine looking in every scene (^_*) I also recommend Last of the Mohicans.

Review: There are not enough words to describe my feelings for this movie......

Summary: A romance for fans of Terminator 2
Review: I am made to watch all my wifes romances on TV and video, usually they bore my arse off. The English Patiant is differant. You are slowly drawn into the story, intially it confuses, but as it unfolds, you are by turn, lifted and dumped by the shear brilliance of the plot. The end is stunning. If you can hold back the tears your central nervous system has been removed! Awesome film

Summary: The most tragic love story of our time
Review: The English Patient is a movie that will touch your soul and cause you to dream of a love riddled with the intense passion portrayed by Ralph Feinnes and Kristen Scott Thomas. The acting is stunning and the story is captivating to those who have the courage to understand and confront love.

Summary: Deserves a place on the list of classic films.
Review: I somewhat reluctantly saw this film with my wife. It would have been a missed opportunity if I hadn't. Great photography (sans excessive special effects). Despite arguments with the morality of the characters, it is empathy provoking.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A movie for those that appreciate movies!
Review: All the actors in this epic war drama are at the top of their game! What makes the movie so powerful is that it actually gets you to sypathize with two adulters, while making you feel like you actually have one foot in Europe and another in Africa. This one definitly needs to be seen more than once to be fully appreciated.
