Rating: Summary: GLITTER SPARKLES AND MARIAH IS FANTASTIC Review: i'm sure alot of you are thinking right now (is she crazy?)yes i am crazy about glitter. alot of people told me not to watch it cause it's awful and not worth it well i couldn't help it when i saw the cover it attracted me so i bought it and i didn't regret it cause i loved the movie and mariah is not bad at all like most critics described her and i'm looking forward to her future movie roles.if this movie was really released in the 80's i'm sure it would have done better at the box office besides the 80's rule!!
Rating: Summary: A good movie debut by Mariah! Review: Honestly, I didn't know what to expect because of all the scathing reviews many people have given Mariah Carey for her first movie debut. Although the script could've been written a little better, I thought it was a nice, even cute film. The only downfall to the film is that it doesn't give much of an introduction to Billie Frank's (Mariah Carey) life, and therefore you have to guess what she did in between those years she lost in touch with her mother. Keep in mind this is Mariah's first movie. Ignore the bad reviews, and watch the movie yourself.
Rating: Summary: At first and now... Review: I love Mariah Carey and when I first saw Glitter I was expecting this amazing movie that wouldn't even compare to any other movie. After I saw it that first time I wasn't impressed. I thought that it was ok but could use improvement. Then I saw it again recently and I have to be honest, I really really liked it. I guess Glitter is the kind of movie that you have to let grow on you. I absolutely love the movie now. I laughed, I cired, and I sang along with it. Mariah Carey did a great job and, well, Max Beesly added that sexy look that the movie needed. ;)
Rating: Summary: A Place in Time Belongs to Us... Review: There are people who come into your life to show you the beauty inside yourself. When they arrive, you feel you have just been born and awaken to your potential. You can then pursue and realize your dream. The simple magic of a mother and daughter singing is not meant to last. Billie Frank's mother falls asleep while smoking and their home catches on fire. Since her mother can no longer support her, she is forced to find a new home. With a few belongings and her cat, Billie closes one door to her life and follows her heart to a path of success. When she meets Dice, he opens up a whole new world to her. The tragic and romantic nature of this story won't let your heart go. Oh, baby, you are going to cry if you watch this movie! Mariah Carey can act. I don't understand why people gave this beautifully romantic movie such horrid reviews. Sure, the first half is a bit much at times, but the second half is very sensitive and there is one scene where Billie is so happy she seems to burst into glitter which was quite creative. "Though we can never be I'll keep you close to me." Tragic Romance. Makes a girl just want to go listen to Mariah Carey's Greatest Hits. Her voice is so amazing.
Rating: Summary: "Glitter" is a charming movie. Review: It may not ever be known as a masterpiece, but GLITTER actually delivers! It's charming and in some ways, clever. It is about this young girl named Billie with a troubled past. She used to sing, but not anymore. When Billie grows up and becomes and adult, she meets this bad boy club DJ named Dice who discovers that she is a very talented singer and tries to get her a record deal--he also ends up falling in love with her. Kind of predictable, but what Hollywood-based movie isn't these days? Mariah Carey is actually a talented actress, and I'm not just saying this because I'm a fan. I'm saying this because she truly is a talented actress. I found GLITTER to be a very underrated film, and was put down by a lot of people and critics because it's Mariah's first. It is a crowd-pleasing film, and Max Beesley who plays Dice is also talented and is quite a fine-looking guy, which never hurts. The DVD is a nice touching finish to the project, and it includes the music videos for "Loverboy" and "Never Too Far" both performed by Mariah Carey. It also gives us a commentary by the director, Vondie Curtis-Hall, and theatrical trailers. This DVD comes in both widescreen and full frame formats, which is nice because you don't have to go out and buy two separate DVDs. But really though, this is a film that only true Mariah Carey fans can appreciate, because everyone else who sees it would just bash it and find it to be bad. I didn't think GLITTER was all that bad because trust me, I've seen worse movies. For Mariah Carey fans, this film is highly recommended. And if you enjoyed this DVD, then I also recommend the soundtrack for GLITTER, which features brand-new songs from Mariah Carey.
Rating: Summary: Bad plot, bad acting; Mariah Carey brings infectious charm Review: Despite it's bad rap given by the critics audiencesit's low box-office potential, and most notably, it's release date (9/11/01), "Glitter" brings life and vivid color to an otherwise dull and contrived plot, helped by pop queen Mariah Carey. As it is, the story is based on a rags-to-riches story about an aspiring diva in the '80s (Carey), which is marred by obstacles and contrived subplots. There's enough bad acting and scripting to give this movie 1 star, but Carey plays out her character with confidence and simple, infectious charm. Fans of Mariah will be well-pleased and impartial, nondemanding people who rent this on VHS/DVD will be surprised on how simple the plot is, helped by Mariah's beauty and her maturing acting ability. Give "Glitter" a look, it's not as bad as the others say it is.
Rating: Summary: 3 Stars is really being too kind!! Review: I am not surprised that this movie wasn't a masterpiece, come on....Mariah Carey an actress. I have definitely seen worse, but I am glad that I work in a video store so, I got to see it for free, but if I had to pay to see it. I would ultimately say...."Save your money because this is no classic".
Rating: Summary: Average 2&half Review: this Film wasn't the Worst Film I've ever seen not by a Long shot.I look at this film from the fact it's a Musician Film.when Singers are in Film it's different than Actors&Actress's.if you do away with the Many Story lines then this film ain't that Bad at all.the Mark Walberg KnockOff that Played Mariah's Producer&Love Interest is Very 3rd&4th tier as a Actor&it shows.but I applaud Mariah for that in a way because She worked with a Unknown whereas many other Musicians surround themselves with Established Actors think Whitney Houston in films with Kevin Costner&Denzel Washington.Mariah take away much of the Chessy Music&heavy-handed Story-lines She did a Respectable Job.
Rating: Summary: Totally dreadful!!!!! Review: Don't get me wrong- I like Mariah Carey. I thought the soundtrack to this movie was really good- shame the film didn't live up to it. The storyline is weakly pathetic and the acting? You'll be laughing at Mariah's dismal messy performance! It's clear that 2001 wasn't Mariah's year, let's hope she sorts her self out this year!
Rating: Summary: A Very Touching Film!! Review: Mariah and the others, they all act well and the film is very touching...don't listen to the press says, but listen to your heart.Give her a chance...see it!and you will see.
