Summary: Bitter Sweet Ride
Review: Although marketed as comedy, DRIVING MISS DAISY--in spite of considerable humor--is actually about racial tension, the nature of friendship, the tragedies of old age, and death. Oscar-winner Jessica Tandy gives a multi-layered performance as an elderly Southern Jewish woman who is more racially tolerant in theory than in fact; Morgan Freeman equals her as the uneducated but endlessly intelligent black man hired to act as her driver. Over time, their extremely combative relationship develops into one of genuine respect, and as the years--sometimes heavy with personal and political crisis--pass, Miss Daisy learns to recognize her own covert racism through the gentle eyes of the servant who slowly becomes her best friend. The supporting cast is equally fine, with expert performances from Dan Ackroyd and Patti Lupone and a particularly impressive bit of acting by Esther Roll. As the film progresses it becomes increasing dark, and those who expect a feel-good "Hollywood" ending will be disappointed, but those with an eye for a film that mixes light comedy with a serious story will be deeply affected. It's well worth the ride.

Summary: Miss Daisy Drive Me Crazy
Review: This movie is about a retired Jewish teacher who becomes friends with her black cheauffer..Miss Daisy really does not want to be friends with him, claiming she's not a racist, but there is a little racial tention between the two..The cheauffer "Hoag," just drives her around saying yes mam' through the whole movie..By the end of the film u can tell she genuinely loved Hoag as a friend.

Summary: Warm and Easy on the Eyes
Review: An excellent movie made even stronger by great performances by all the actors involved, this is one of the few absolutely flawless movies I've ever seen. Jessica Tandy is such a lady, and even though she is originally English, she has great talent at playing Southern ladies. Morgan Freeman gives a lot of personality to Hoke, the driver, which might not have been there if someone else had played him. This movie is quiet and eloquent, funny at times and serious at others. I especially like the ending. Is is sad or happy? You be the judge.

Summary: Repulsive harnaguing
Review: Jessica Tandy harangues like an orangoutang and if you ever wanted to feel the spirit of Lucifer inside you, then watch this movie. If your body flow is not quite the eternal throbbing of love, learn what Miss Daisy did, and get nasty!

Summary: This is one of my top 10 favorite movies of all time...
Review: This movie really explores an interesting relationship between a gentle, wise old black man and a white wealthy Jewish woman. I've seen this movie again and again, but I love it a little more each time I see it.

The timeline - chronicling several decades from the late 1940s - 1980s - makes for an interesting story alone. The dynamics of their relationship - the interdependent friendship - the rules of Jim Crow South - it all makes for a fascinating tapestry of an ever changing relationship.

Great, great movie.

Summary: Why no widescreen???
Review: I give this movie 5 stars (It won best picture, after all) But I give the DVD 1 star...Why isn't this movie in widescreen (letterbox) format? ALL best picture winners deserve widescreen special editions with all the extras!

Summary: Quite Simulating
Review: This is truly a quality movie where character rains supreme. Morgan Freeman, Jessica Tany, Esther Rolle, and Dan Akroyd all give worthy performances. Freeman is especially strong as he is able to make his points while maintaining a low key/easy going demeanor. A lot of us can learn from him in this movie that quiet perserverance can win over most anyone. The Southern scenery is also very pelasant to view. Certainly worth a rental for a quiet night.

Summary: why no widescreen?
Review: I just have to say that such a beautiful film deserves better treatment on DVD. It simply does not make sense to put out this DVD title in only full-screen format. If WB comes to its senses and creates a better quality widescreen Miss Daisy, I would not hesitate to buy it and give a five-star review. Until then, save your money and buy the VHS version.

Summary: Excellent movie, poor presentation
Review: great movie, very watchable... too bad it's not available in widescreen like it was on laserdisc. poor picture quality, poor sound quality -- this one's for the diehard "Miss Daisy" fan.

Summary: Morgan Freeman is great
Review: I think it is an awsome movie as well as a very good performance from Morgan Freeman. The only thing that amaze me is that Jesica Tandy won the academy award instead of Morgan Freeman. How in the world that could happen? It can only happen in HollyWood.I think if we watch closely we can clearly see that HollyWood always does discrimination against the black(I am not a black) actors and actress. I am amazed no body point out or talks about it.
