Rating: Summary: better than the original series Review: i was never able to get into the regular series with kelly martin and tyne daly. not that i don't like their acting, it just always seemed that they were not right for the roles that they were playing. i grew up reading catherine marshalls books and lauren just fit my image of what christy would have looked and acted like. and tyne daly definately was no miss alice!!!
Rating: Summary: Choices of the Heart: A New Beginning Review: In Choices Of the Heart (COTH) A New Beginning, many loose ends get tied, while some remain loose. Between Neil,David and Christy, Miss Alice and Dr. Ferrand, who again proposes, John Spencer and Bessie Colburn who want to get married and many many other things, this movie is full of drama and romance and even some comedy here and there! The movie starts out 3 months after the typhoid epidemic that hit the Cove, causing many deaths including Lundy Taylor (the school bully) and Christy's dear friend Fairlight Spencer. In COTH, Christy has accepted David Grantland's(played by James Waterston, son of Sam Waterston) proposal of marrige, and is 2 weeks away from the big day, when suddenly, Dr. Neil MacNeill (played by the wonderful and handsome Aussie Stewart Finlay-McLennan,who's Scottish accent is enough to make Mel Gibson run and hide!) returns for a visit to the Cove after leaving 3 months earlier to do research on typhoid in Baltimore,MD. Neil asks Christy to come for a ride with him. Christy accepts. While the two are gone, Neil tells Christy his true feelings for her, in hopes that she may feel the same. Christy, clearly flustered, knowing what her true feelings are but not wanting to accept them, runs away from Neil with Neil closely behind. In the mean time, John Spencer and Bessie Colburn are speaking about marrige, which has Miss Alice, Christy and David concered, since they are clearly too young for marrige. Then the biggest storm the Cove has ever witnessed hits, and Neil and Christy get stranded in the rain, and have to resort to taking shelter in an abandoned hunters cabin. While in the cabin, Christy asks Neil why he choose now to return, so close to her wedding, and doesn't understand why Neil shows nothing but contempt towards her, he kisses her and she slaps him and runs out of the cabin and into the woods. (Poor Neil) While running, Christy falls down a ravene and hurts her ankle, and Neil finds her and carries her back to the cabin, where she ends up devloping a fever that Neil can do noting about. So he goes to his last resort..... Meanwhile, back at the Mission, Alice is having a time of it! With David in El Pano, who finds out that Neil is back and decides to make the 7 mile hike up the mountain in the rain, with Dr. Ferrand who shows up at the last minute, Alice is having to deal with hordes of highlanders coming to the mission door in search for shelter. All of their cabin's are in danger of being swept away by the rising river. Finally, morning comes, and with it dawns new hopes for everyone. David and Tom McHone meet Neil, carring Christy, back to the mission, in the woods after searching for them all morning. And then, Christy makes her choice. 2 weeks later, dawns Christy's wedding day. With her chat with her mother, she walks down the isle and meets her beloved... Choices of the Heart: A New Beginning is, along with Choices of the Heart: A Change of Seasons and Return to Cutter Gap, a wonderful trilogy in the beloved Christy series. I highly recommend it to everyone. Christy is an inspiring, touching, heart warming story full of all the great aspects of good books and movies. Romance, drama, spirituality. While some of the acting may not live up to the acting of the actors in the series, it is still superb. I will agree, that on some aspects Diane Ladd was not the perfect Miss Alice, and though she is a fantastic actress, Tyne Daily sure is a hard one to beat! Though I did prefer Randall Batinkoff over James Waterston, James was wonderful for the David that he portrayed. Lauren Lee Smith to me, played a different Christy then Kellie Martin. Kellie played a younger, niave Christy, while Lauren played a more mature Christy. One ready to make the life changing decision into marriage. All in all, the movie (s) are wonderful, and I will always recommend them to everyone!!
Rating: Summary: Best of 3 Review: Of the three new Christy movies, this is definitely the best, and not just because Christy and (emitted) get married. Haha, gotcha. I can't say much for Lauren Lee Smith, other than she's really weak compared to Stewart Finlay-McLennan (Dr. MacNeill). He's great, just like in the TV series, but Christy, David, Alice, and all of the children aren't believable at all. Ah, the good old days, when the little mountain kids were unsanitary and their parents were ignorant. Can we please have some believability here? Anyway, at least it ends how it should.
Rating: Summary: Christy A New Beginning; why did I even bother... Review: Personally, I absolutly hated this movie. I am a fan of the original serries with Kellie Martin and Randall Batinkoff and at first I was excited someone was finally continuing the story of Christy and yet sad they weren't in it but because of the ending of this particular movie, I'm GLAD they weren't in it. If they were in it, I would dislike the movie even more because I wanted to see them get together. The reason I disliked this movie will give away the ending and I don't want to do that for the people who have yet to watch it but let me just say, the guy who played David is a very good actor and at the end of the movie when he was on his horse, I wanted to cry just looking at the expression on his face. It was gut wrenching. And for "Christy" to juggle the hearts of 2 men and later to "give one back" was disgusting. Women shouldn't toy with men's feelings and this movie does just the thing. I was really, really disappointed with the ending of this movie.
Rating: Summary: Ok... Review: The new "Christy" was ok. But the original cast with Kelly Martin and Tyn Daly will alway be Christy and Miss Alice. I just thought that the girl they got to play Christy was so bland and calm when the Character was actually a little more fiesty. But that wasn't even my main problem with it. My problem was that they had replaced all the character's which is fine, but if your going to do that. Then replace all that characters. Dr.Mcneil is played by that same actor that was in the telvision series. He had chemistry with Kelly Martin. You knew those two. They had no history with him and "NEW CHRISTY". It just didn't seem right to have him played by the same man and everyhting around him different. I might have enjoyed it more if they had gotten a different actor b/c then I wouldn't thought through the whole thing, NO THIS WRONG. We watched the series as him and Kelly battled and domewhat flirted and You were so upset when they left you hanging. But to add new people and then keep him. Just wasn't right...
Rating: Summary: CHRISTY's Wedding Review: This is a very good movie about the time leading up to when Christy gets married. This film aired on PAX this year (2000) and many fans have injoyed watching Christy's special wedding. She marries... Dr. McNeil! Sadly it's not David. Watch the film and find out what happens to Christy in "A New Beginning" of "Christy: Choices of The Heart" Part 2
Rating: Summary: Stewart and Lauren are great!!!!! Review: This is one of the best movies I've seen in years!!! Stewart and Lauren (Neil & Christy) did a fabulous job! It is so good I hope they do another "Christy" movie together sometime soon!!
Rating: Summary: at least she marries the right one... Review: This mini-series takes advantage of the fans' interest in the love triangle. Two different endings were shot, so that not even the actors knew who Christy would choose. Unfortunately, this decision to keep the viewer guessing until the final scene makes Christy looks like a flake. By the time this soap opera ended, I didn't care about Christy's fate; I was feeling too sorry for both the men in her life. Catherine Marshall's characters deserve better. Stewart Finlay McLennan is excellent as Neil; I wish he had an experienced actress playing Christy and a script worthy of his talent.
Rating: Summary: Christy's Wedding Review: This movie detials Christy's upcoming wedding and her choice for the right person in her life, the Doctor or the Pastor. Through many different problems, as in "A Change of Seasons"-the death of her close friend Fairlight- Christy makes her choice of her dreams and marries the Doctor. It's a really good movie, and I hope that the follow up to this will be coming soon!
Rating: Summary: One word....AWESOME! Review: When I heard that PAX TV (bless their hearts) was making a three part movie about who Christy ultimately chooses to marry, I couldn't pass it up! I wasn't dissapointed. 'Choices of the Heart' was the best of the 3 and I haven't yet gotten sick of watching it. When the series came out and ended abruptly, I was dissapointed to say the least. And thought that we would never know who she chooses...now we do. ;)
The ONLY problem I had with the movie was the actors who played David, Miss Alice, Christy and the kids. Although all three of the main characters were talented, I felt that there was alot of over and underacting, and at times it didn't seem real. The kids were too clean and the hair-dos and clothes were too nice for the time era and hardships they lived. I missed Kellie Martin as Christy. To me, she'll always be christy..she was born for the part. To be honest, if it wasn't for Stewart Finlay McLennan (who played the original character Neil in the series) I probably wouldn't have been interested in this movie at all.
Other than that, I highly reccomend all three movies. I have the videos right now but eventually I'm going to get the DVD's.
Hope you Enjoy! :)
