Summary: Very Good With Surprising You!
Review: This Moll Flanders indeed put the other with Robin Wright to shame. Yet supposedly telling the same story...they had little in common. It was like watching two different movies or stories about two different women with the same names.Yet this movie is very good with remaining on a constant pace, but full of shock. You find Moll getting out of one mess and into another. Most of them quite petrifying. A lot of plot unravels through revelation. As she tries to make it in the world she uses many hair brained schemes in order to survive. Quite fascinating ones -- very clever. Yet these things land her in the middle of appauling discoveries that would be hard for any woman to handle. It's a very moderate tempered movie and if you're an action fan this may not be what your looking for. It definitely has a smooth transition and is very much Charles Dickens type. Yet, a lot of sagas such as this usually are. I loved it, but I love movies such as these. They are the root of a classic. You truly have to be skilled to write a movie like this one or the book.

Summary: ALEX KINGSTON COULD TURN A STRAIGHT WOMAN GAY
Review: This movie is totally captivating. Alex Kingston is witty, believable and totally sexy in this story of female triumph. For some of us, it brings home some deep truths about ourselves. One of the rare movies I'v seen that I end up buying because I MUST own it. And the men in this movie... AYE CARUMBA! ;)

Summary: Excellent Performance
Review: This performance of Moll Flanders (which aired on PBS originally in 1996 not 1981 as Amazon mentions) is an excellent show. When this was released there was a theatrical release with Robin Wright playing simultaneously. This one is by far the superior. It tells the whole story. Diana Rigg is excellent as her long lost mother in later years. The DVD includes Russell Baker's commentary from the telecast which is unusual for a pre-recorded Masterpiece Theatre, but far be it from me to complain. Moreover [...] the DVD is a bargain. Grab it while you can.
