Summary: I was Okay
Review: I watched both the new and old version of this movie and I think that the old version is much, much better then the new veriosn because it tells you more info about his life in jail before you get into the movie

Summary: Where's the rest of it?
Review: I'd first like to say that this movie was not worthy of the title Les Miserables. The actors would have been wonderful in a movie that was more like the book. The truest character was Javert. The begining showed promise but the climax was disappointing. What happened to Enjolras? He was watered down to a little nothing role while Marius led the revolution! And Eponine? She was mentioned in the credits but i saw nothing of the love she had for Marius! Her absence robbed Marius of a vital subplot! What happened to the Thenardiers? They are the stories only other main villains besides Javert! And what of this romantic fling Valjean had for Fantine? He liked her sure, but in this film Valjean is almost having an affair! And Valjean's revalation to Cossette came way too soon not to mention that Valjean would NEVER have beaten Cossette!!! In short, the acting was very good, but the actors needed the entire story to act in!

Summary: Wonderful..but still missing something.
Review: I am in grade eight, and I had the chance to choose a book of any lenght last year to do a book report on and I chose Les Miserables. I love it!! There are so many sub-plots and little things to pay attention to. I like that.THe movie, also, is a wonderful piece, but the screen writers left out a very important character,Eponine. I also think if, like the others, that if a movie as cheesy as Titanic can be three hours long, surely a piece of wonderful literature could be as long or at least longer and having a better ending. But inspite of all this, I myself believe that the acting was superb and the characters all seemed to be true and real. It could have been better, but it still was a WONDERFUL movie. Beth J.

Summary: Where's Eponine?
Review: Wonderful cast, and the movie is enjoyable. But the story has a huge piece sliced out of it. Where is Eponine?

Summary: I am picky and this is the best flick ever!
Review: There is no cussing, no nudity, and more drama than movies that have both. The plot is of a man changing from his sinful ways and how a person really can change. The ending is fantastic and one you would never guess.

Summary: The best motion picture I've ever seen
Review: A great story of mercy, forgiveness and the lack thereof. My wife and I saw this film several times and we dont normally see many movies and never one more than once. The actors did a magnificiet job bringing the characters to life. I believe the writer did a wonderful job with the story by deciding which parts he would make the focus. The ending was very moving, driving home the point that striving to obey the law without seeking mercy leads to destruction. I would strongly recommend this movie to everyone. It is a shame movies like the titanic with weak story lines would do better at the box office than this classic piece of literature. The story is very moving and inspiring.

Summary: Compelling life stories that captivate from opening scene
Review: A terrific film based on the book by Victor Hugo, Les Miserable captures the human spirit of both good and evil and is exquisitely performed by this great cast. This film shows the destruction of one mans life based on his ill found prejudice for "criminals" and the liberation of another based on his kind heart and principles.

Summary: American Movie Makers Suffer From ADD
Review: This movie was by far and wide a four-and-a-half star film, right up until they ended it, three-quarters of the way into the story. The exclusion of the continuing role of the Thenardier family and, consequently, the right and proper ending, is abominable and insulting to those who know and love the story. It was heartbreaking to me that the producers and directors weren't willing to go 100% with this beautiful and intricate story, especially when they had done so well with the rest of it. The cast was spectacular and the part of the story which they did choose to present was excellently done. However, it still saddens me that movies like _Titanic_ with very run-of-the-mill storylines get to be three hours long but the amazing complexity of _Les Miserables_ is simplified to satisfy a viewing puplic who only want happy endings.

Summary: STUNNING GOOD
Review: I really like the performance of Liam Neeson as Jean. I never read the novel. But I felt impressive for the story especially the first half of the movie (about Jean character). The other half is about his adopted daugther. It is only an okay.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: If I could rate it higher than 5 stars, I would!
Review: I thought the performances were wonderful and the message ageless. Virtues such as love, mercy, honesty, integrity, and perserverance were evident in this film. I would recommend seeing it and buying it as I will....when the price comes down. As of 1/20/99 the price is a bit high but wait and enjoy it in your home forever.
